Chapter 37: She texted him

Next order of business was a car. She checked Liehen's wallet to make sure the woman had a driver's licence. The last thing she needed was to be pulled over and arrested for driving without a licence. Satisfied that she wouldn't end up in jail, she picked up her phone to call Li Naihe. She hesitated for a second, thinking the crazy woman might still be with him, after all she was his fiancée. Instead of calling, she decided to text him.

"Mr. Li, call me when it's convenient. It's somewhat urgent, but not life and death. -R-" She felt satisfied with this message and pressed send.

On the other side of the city, Li Naihe was ready to kill someone. If he wasn't trapped in this blasted world, and didn't think he needed her, he really would've put a bullet in between the woman's eyes, the second she opened her mouth. Yes, that was the kind of man he was.

Shengua Lianhua was still sobbing on his couch demanding his attention. He was so over it, his eyes were about to roll in his head from all the fake crying this woman was doing. He absolutely had no time for her, but she wouldn't stop.

When Raven left, he saw her getting in a taxi without looking back. The reason he came down was because his top floor receptionist informed him his fiancée was causing a scene in the lobby shouting at people. He had no idea what was going on, but knowing Raven went in the same direction, he was worried about the two women meeting.

He really didn't want to clean up a murder in the lobby of his company, but hell if he wouldn't respect Raven more if she did do that.

Alas, she didn't. He walked into the lobby area just as Lianhua was making a bee line for Raven, and then saw her walking out, unaffected, without looking back.

He had to admit he was a bit disappointed, but at the same time, he was grateful she wasn't angry.

As soon as Lianhua saw him, her attitude changed completely and started running towards him crying and saying she had been bullied by Raven. He didn't know whether to laugh or to cry at how ridiculous this scene was.

The woman tried to hug him and snuggle against his chest as she was crying. He would have none of that. Keeping her at arm's length he tried to calm her down. He guessed she felt cornered, because her crying wouldn't stop and complained about Raven calling her a slut.

He knew that couldn't be true, even if Raven would somehow use such language, first she wasn't easily rattled to resort to this kind of behaviour, and second, even if she was, it would've been in French for sure.

He laughed at how observant he was of the woman his fate was now tied to. It felt like he was herding cats, trying to get rid of this annoying Lianhua. 'Man, I cannot catch a break!' he sighed and herded her towards his office, away from the prying eyes of his staff. He would send a message to reception to prevent this woman from entering the building in the future, but for now, he needed to deal with this shitstorm.

She really showed no signs of relenting with her annoying cry and sobs. He was disgusted now. Putting on his best smile he started patting her back to calm her down.

Seeing she had caused a comforting reaction in him, Shengua Lianhua was over the moon. She started moving closer and closer to him, almost clawing at his chest. This was her chance to make everyone believe she was his fiancée.

"Miss Shengua, you really cannot come to my office like this. It's not appropriate for a young lady "he cringed saying that "of your stature to show up like this."

She started crying even harder and Naihe could not figure out how to get rid of her. He needed her around, but it really felt like it wasn't worth the effort.

"B-But Naihe, I really cannot stand that woman so close to you, please you have to get rid of her" she sobbed "it breaks my heart, every time she looks at you like that."

The woman was delusional he thought. The real Liehen never looked at him in any other way but as an employee to employer. She had made one comment once that she admired his business drive and that was it. As for Raven, she did not give him the time of day, so where in the world was this woman getting her thoughts from?!

"Miss Shengua, you need to calm down. Miss Jisuanji has quit today, there is no reason to believe she has anything to do with me?"

He could see a glint of a smile on her face, as she pretended to keep crying. 'Pathetic' he thought and pretended not to notice her happiness at the information he shared. It was true, Raven had quit, but he had no intention of letting her go.

Before he could continue to try to pacify the woman his phone buzzed on the desk with a text message. He got up from Lianhua to check it. People rarely texted him. He looked at the unfamiliar number and opened the text. His smile was so broad it could light up the room. Raven had texted him, and she needed his help. He was delighted. He wanted to call her straight away but then looked at the crying mess on his couch. She was now staring at him with a murderous look on her cried out face.

Right, get rid of this mess first.

"Miss Shengua, I have a very important meeting I need to attend, you need to calm down and leave. I will not agree to you interfering with my business, irrespective of your family background." He said this in a cold tone. He was successful, she was now scared and had stopped crying.

"Naihe, I'm very sorry. I will leave now, just please get rid of that woman." She stood up from the couch, no signs of tears left, and strode towards him. 'Eh? What is she trying to do?' sensing she was about to jump him, he dodged her and headed straight for the door, opening it in one swift movement.

Seeing her plan to pounce on him had failed, Lianhua sighed and with a resigned smile she walked out of his office. He waited for her to get in the elevator before he shut the door and called Raven.
