Seeing she was leaving without even looking further into his home and living style, Rene was starting to feel disappointed. He had hoped for her to at least take note of the exquisite decorations, or maybe ask a question or two about the artefacts he had on display. He sighed, 'this woman is so cold' he thought disappointed by her lack of reaction.
Before she got in her car to leave, Raven stopped, turned to him like she was just remembering something.
"You have many wonderful and valuable artefacts in your home Mr. Li, if you wish to bring any to the new property I suggest you start packing. You won't be able to move too much without attracting attention, but some of your pieces are really beautiful. I have some in my collection at home."
He was stunned. She really did pay attention, and she had a collection at home… Rene was appreciating her more and more.
"I will think about it, for now, let me know the address, I will have a look at your home myself."
Raven contemplated his request, but decided it was not time yet to reveal the location. He could wait.
"We'll talk in two days Mr. Li, once everything is in place. If I don't reach out to you in the next 48 hours, you can assume I've left, and my assistant will be in touch. "
With that, she got in her car and drove off.
Rene was left feeling a bit empty by her sudden departure. He wanted to talk to her more. She said she had a meeting and he had hoped by the end of their visit to his home she would change her mind about him joining her. Alas, that was not the case. He wanted to follow her, but he couldn't attract too much attention, and being seen with her all the time could cause quite a lot of unnecessary drama.
Driving very fast, Raven was now trying to reorganise her plan. She would need to create her virtual assistant quicker, and potentially give him a body. Her plan was to recreate Dominic's AI and allow it to learn this world so she would gain more information. She was also planning on rewriting the book in this world, for Dominic 2 to be able to analyse the story line and make sure they would reach the end of it. With her eidetic memory, she would be able to write it word for word, even if it wouldn't have the same properties, the story line would be accurate.
Thinking about the story line and what had happened in the lab in the split second she was back, Raven was wondering about the possibilities in this world. She was an outsider in mind and spirit, but she very much belonged here by inhabiting Liehen's body.
Rene on the other hand, seems to have been pulled in completely, looking like himself. These two occurrences did not make sense. Why was Rene pulled in entirely when she was just an echo of herself, a projection really.
If she was a projection, then why would her body disappear from the real world? Were there more phenomena and changes she would experience going in and out of this world? Could it be that the more time she spent here the higher the likelihood of her body being fully transported as well? Who would she be in the book in that case.
Rene was written as the secondary male lead, but would she become a character as well, and how would the story be altered in that case.
Raven needed to get Dominic 2 on this as quickly as possible to investigate where the main characters of the story were and if the story line had changed. She would run the same monitoring from home as soon as she was able to go back again.
This meeting really needed to go well.
Half an hour later, Raven walked past the restaurant she had chosen for this meeting. It was relatively difficult to reach, but it was in a highly populated area to be able to blend into the crowd should she need to make a quick escape. She had considered selecting a quitter place, but both her and the people she was meeting had agreed that they would prefer an easy escape. This was the first step in building her network.
She kept her sunglasses on, pretending to be a tourist. Her undercover work in the real world was really coming in handy right now. She hacked into the nearby CCTV cameras to monitor when the other party would arrive, and get a better sense of the location and all escape routes.
Through her training, Raven was able to easily walk and look at her phone's screen without bumping into anyone on the street. If anyone with a trained eye would look closer, they could probably detect her abnormal skills; the passers-by had no idea however that amongst them was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Satisfied there were no dangers, she made her way to the restaurant she had selected. Before she went in however, she noticed out of the corner of her eye someone who looked out of place. A large man, who looked like an enforcer was hovering near the restaurant, trying to seem inconspicuous. It would be very hard to blend in given his stature, but he was doing his best. She wasn't sure if this man was with the party she was meeting, or someone else looking to interfere with their business; it was shady after all.
She quickly changed direction and entered the tea house across the street from the restaurant, closely monitoring the man and looking at the table where the two she was supposed to meet were sitting. If they were exchanging any looks with the bruiser looking man, then she could accept it was their way of protecting themselves, however, they didn't look like they were aware of him.
A strange feeling of uneasiness washed over her, and she decided not to risk it. This was Liehen's body after all. She took a picture of the man hovering by the entrance of the restaurant now, and sent it to her contacts. She watched as one of the men looked at his phone, a look of panic on his face now. He was quite young, but clearly quite qualified given that he was surviving successfully in the criminal world and could supply her with what she needed.
Since the man looked worriedly at the picture, she texted him to postpone the meeting. It was not safe since the outsider was not either of their men in this situation.
Her contact agreed and they slowly moved from the table heading for the back door of the restaurant. Closely monitoring the CCTV to ensure both of their escapes, she noticed a black sedan parked closely to the back exit of the restaurant. This was not good.
Without hesitation she called the man she had been texting.
