Chapter Thirty-Two - Dairy Entry #7

Entry #7

September 12, 1822

Today Mother, Cecile, and I went on a picnic. Sadly, it did not go as planned. Cecile and I were kicking a ball around, after lunch. I kicked it a little too far, and it went into the woods. Cecile chased after it.

A few minutes went by and Cecile had not returned. Mother had begun to worry, when the red-eyed man we met on the road; the day we arrived, had come out of the woods carrying Cecile. The man claimed that he had fallen into the river and he had saved him. Cecile was luckily alright, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Mother invited the man to dine with us once Cecile recovers. I know that it is the polite thing to do, but I wish she hadn't. He gives me a bad feeling.
