It's Your Birthday 2.0

Part 02

Mark's POV*

A familiar voice greeted my ears as soon as I got off the bike, giving me a gentle smile. "Hello my son, did school finish early today?"

As she pats my head, the helmet that once I held is now in her arms, "Come, I have made some lunch for you." She pauses before I even replied, noticing I have brought a company, "You must be one of Mark's classmates, nice to meet you, I'm his mother."

Keiysy who had been looking around the yard immediately shook her outstretched hand, introduced herself. Without realizing it, the two women had entered the house, leaving me alone. It didn't take long, they seemed to be familiar with each other. As we had known each other for a long time, I thought she would be angry if I brought her home without her permission.

Lunch is now served on the dining table, simple but very delicious. Somehow I prefer mom's food to have than buy it at expensive restaurants out there, they will come out in the same shape anyway. I showed Keiysy the guest room, before returning to talk with Mother who previously asked me to explain the whole thing.

She looked confused, but still continued to nod along at the same time, "She's a new teacher there, she needs time to adjust herself. Just like you, if you still insist that something's wrong, maybe you could watch her from afar, and see if there's really one or two-point that you think it's not right, okay sweetheart?"

"I know that, it's just my heart won't stop beating, it beats too fast. Whenever she walks past or even when I took a quick glance at her."

Mother quietly gasped, covering her roundly shaped mouth with her slender fingers, "You like her, do you? Oh My Gosh, Mark Jourell how could you?"

"Mother, it's not like that. How can I even like a creepy teacher like that? I have my sense too, it's not that my heart beats like how it used to beat fast when I'm in love. It's this peculiar beats, that keeps messing around with me." I continued, "It's burning me from the inside, yet it makes me feel like I'm drowning. I feel like there's something fishy about her as if she's hiding behind her mask."

As soon I finished talking, she stood up smoothing her wrinkled dress, heading to the front door which was repeatedly knocked on, "I'm sure you're just overthinking, but if you still insist, then you might have to be careful at school. Mommy's going to check the door, okay? Go to her room, ask her if she needs anything."

As soon as I arrived in front of the bedroom door, a familiar voice reached my ears, it seemed that it was someone who had been knocking on the door. The feelings that I told Mother before, the one that makes my heart beats go crazy, in a not-falling in love way. I have to make sure Keiysy doesn't come out of the room, but the door handle was already twisted open from the inside, revealing the girl who confusedly staring at me.

The voice called, "Here you are, Mr. Jourell. I have been looking for you, and the young lady behind you."

"Nice to see you again, Ms."

A hint of smugness is seen behind her small smile, as she sits on the sofa, Alin sits beside her as well. She chimed, "I believe we have an unfinished business, are we?"

"I don't think so, it's just a misunderstanding, you don't have to bother coming here," I speak once again, putting my hands in my pockets, as I put a flat face. "You may go home."

The new teacher was now putting on a forced smile, her eyes were as big as dates, not agreeing with what I was saying. She was incredibly calm, I wonder will she stay calm, if I mess with her a bit. I turned my head towards Keiysy's, closing in, whispering under my breath to her soft ears.

"I bet 2 trays of pizzas, she will furiously leave any second now."

Keiysy who heard that was surprised, she threw a small smack on my arm, not long after she lifted her right palm. "Make it five trays."

"Deal."

She smiled, "Deal."

"Well, aren't you leaving Katherine? I hope you will, cause I bet 5 trays of pizzas to her."

As I expected, she got up hurriedly, "Excuse me?"

"Ah, it will be so much better if you got angry by now."

When the tray containing the 2 cups of white tea my mother brought was just placed, she raise her voice almost immediately, "This matter will continue in my office, and you will come. This is an order, and you have no right to refuse, even if you two still have the guts to run away, know that I won't hold back anymore."

My two honored guests stepped out of the house, finally. I spread my hands, giving both Keiysy and Mother a proud look. "Ladies, that's what I called entertainment, so what do you think?"

Keiysy seemed a bit confused though, she asked, "How do you even know her name?"

"Name tags exist for a reason."

As she gave me a nod of approval, Mother let out a deep sigh, shaking slowly her head as she sits down. I found her fingers gently massaging her temples, "If you got into detention once again, and your father knows. You do know how he will react? He will send you off to that all-boys school again, you really want that?"

The chubby-cheeked girl put her hands on my mother's, calming her down. "Don't worry, Mrs. Jourell he won't be in any trouble anymore, I can assure you."

"Huh, and where did you find this sudden confident?"

She explained, "Well, first off I don't know exactly what kind of person you are, or like how you live your life, but there's one thing I know. That one thing is, I've put in this trouble, while you're just a transfer student, new students shouldn't go into detention on the first week unless that person is Arga. So, after this matter is over, it would be better if we weren't friends."

She mentioned once more, "Also, my friends told me that I kinda bring bad luck, so yeah..."

"First of all shortie, I appreciate your offer of friendship, but unfortunately I'm not interested. Second, I don't want to be your friend, and Third, maybe your friends were right."

A smack landed on my back, it was Mother who hit me, "Ouch."

Mother lifted one of the glasses of white tea that she had brought earlier, then offered it to the girl, "I'm sure I have nothing to worry about, thanks to you sweetie."

It was already late afternoon, our books and bags were still at school, we couldn't help but have to pick them up because someone really insisted on going to pick them up today. The school building looks still crowded, ah I couldn't skip class today. As soon as we entered the classroom, the other students immediately surrounded us, asking all kinds of questions and shouting that made our ears hurt incessantly.

But, luckily they all didn't stand still like before, it was really terrible. Katherin, re-entered the classroom calling my name and also Keiysy's, as I thought we had to clean up some classes before we were allowed to go home. Bad luck indeed.

Keiysy shouted, "Hey, Mark. You still owe me 5 trays of pizzas."

I shouted back, feeling annoyed, "If I owe you 5, then how many you owe me?"

She gasped, "What? Clearly, it was you that put a bet on 5."

"Well, I've given you a ride, some meal, a room, and brought you back here. Oh, and also you put me into this mess, still got something to say?"

She said, not wanting to lose, childish. "I didn't ask you to do so, it was you who was pulling me everywhere..."

"Well, then you should have refused, why are you so easy to trick? I could've been a bad guy, kidnap you or something, why did you trust me that easy?"

Keiysy cried, she left the room at that moment, "I DON'T KNOW, I AM SORRY OKAY, WHO WANTS TO GET INTO THIS MESS ANYWAY."

Out of anger, I threw the broom handle in half, "Dang it, Lesham."

Out of nowhere, Alin punched me without warning, "Stay the fuck out of her, you hurt her enough."

"Great, now prince charming came to the rescue. You're late, by the way."
