Prologue : The one I crave

Life is full of wants and needs, desires and wishes, yearning and longing.

For some things these feelings just exceed the limits because sometimes you want something so much you’d do anything to get it.

But how far will you go for it?

Will you cross the lines for it?

If it’s something you really want, you have to be careful too, right? You don’t want to lose it permanently.

That something, or someone.

It’s been seventeen years.

Seventeen long yet fast years since I started living with Quincy.

Now, I’m twenty years old and a college student.

I chose fine arts as my major in college, but it’s not because I have any ambitions or a very noble goal. I’m just accumulating means that will give me what I want.

I took a deep breath as I sat in the cafeteria thinking about what to do.

“Hey~” Someone whispered in my ear and I looked back. It was Chris, a business major and one of the most handsome guys in the college. He was blonde with blue eyes, tall with a great figure. Someone who was the target of many girls.

“Hey.” I replied to him and he came and sat in front of me. I smiled at him.

He’s the target of many women yet he spends his time with me.

Now, I don’t mean to brag or anything but I’m quite pretty myself. I have long silky dark hair, light brown big eyes, plump lips, fair skin and the perfect height and body.

Although I won’t deny I had to work on most of that.

I grew out my hair, exercised for my body and took a lot of care of my skin.

It was all in order to achieve what I want.

“Yo~!” Another voice made me and Chris look at the person waving at us as he jogged towards us. Nathan, he was a sports major, in the swimming team. His skin was tan, he had jet black hair with a nice build. What everyone loved about him was his jolly and adorable personality.

He came over and sat next to me, “Hey guys. Where’s Sam?” He looked around looking for the person who was always late.

“Sam’s late,” I answered, “As always.”

“I’m not.” The three of us heard a voice and turned our faces to see Sam, “Not this time.” Sam too was a business major and from a very rich family. Anyone could tell that from the way he dresses, the cars he drives and well, the crappy attitude he has is included in it too.

“You’re the last one here Sam.” Chris spoke, “Where the hell did you even go? We left class together.”

“That’s none of your business.” He folded his arms and sat down in front of me.

Now how are we all friends?

We were together in highschool. In 12th grade, unexpectedly a friendship blossomed between us due to a certain incident and we became friends even though we had even talked to each other before.

“So?” Nathan slurped his slurpee, “Are we going to start doing it?”

They all looked at me and I grinned, “Of course.” I licked my lower lip in excitement, “We can’t back down now.”

“Are you sure about this Nena?” Chris asked.

“10000%, I’m so sure it could transcend the universe.” I clenched my fists, “So,” I looked at the three of them, “Which one of you will do it with me first?”

I looked at them one by one and the three handsome men exchanged glances.

“You-” Sam looked at me, “No-” He stood up, “Right to the point is wrong.”

I stood up too, “Why? You can’t sleep with me?”

He shook his head, “Your approach is all wrong!” He glared at me and I glared back.

Then after a few seconds I looked at the other two, “It’s wrong?”

They both nodded.

“We’re ready to do it with you Nena.” Nathan said, “Why wouldn’t we? There’s nothing to lose but-” He nodded lightly, “You’re going too fast.”

I sat back down and closed my eyes as I calmed myself down, “You’re right.” I said and Sam sat back down as well, “Let’s take it slow.”

Chris smiled, “You’ve been patient so far.” I nodded.

“Hey,” Sam said, “I’ll sleep with you when the time comes.” He grinned, “But you need to be patient.”

“Yeah.” I took a deep breath, “I just got a little impatient there.” I smiled, “I can’t ruin this here.”

Nathan finished his slurpee, “Yea! When it’s the right time I’ll go second!”

“Or we can have a threesome.” Chris added.

“Not bad.” Sam nodded.

I cleared my throat, “You all literally just said I need to wait till that part.”

“You do!” The three of them said together and I looked at them in bewilderment.

“Come on.” Sam stood up, “I’ll drop you off.” He winked at me and I stood up immediately.

“Okay!”

“Sheesh girl!” Chrish shook his head, “Keep your excitement at bay.”

I looked at him, “Oh I will.” I gulped, “I’m an expert at that after all.”

Sam dropped me off at my house. I got off his Audi just when Quincy was coming home from his jog but I pretended not to notice him and started making my way to the house.

“Nena.” I heard Sam call me and looked back at him, “See you tomorrow?” He winked at me.

I snickered, “Yea.” I waved a good-bye to him and went in while he sat back in his car and drove away.

Quincy was watching all that, his breaths were heavy because of exercise but I paid him no heed and went straight to the kitchen.

“Your boyfriend?” He came in and opened up his tracksuit zip revealing his perfectly toned abs as he placed the groceries he had bought on the way back.

He shops himself since he’s awfully peculiar about his food and the quality of it as a vampire.

Yes,

Quincy is a vampire. His real name is Quincelet but I don’t know his surname and how old he really is since he said he stopped counting near two hundred.

“No.” I filled the glass with water, “Just a friend.”

His reply didn’t come immediately, “I see.” Yet his answer was short.

What do I make of that?

I tapped my fingers on the counter, “Why ask?”

“Just curious.” He neatly arranged the things on the shelves, “First time a boy came to drop you off.”

“Well, it’s not the first time.” His movement paused for a split second but I noticed, “I am a grown up now.” I looked at him but he kept his eyes on things he had just bought, “And-” I started but then stopped.

“And?”

“Nothing.” I answered and he finally looked at me but I looked away, “I’m going to my room.” I said and quickly walked out of there and went to my room on the second floor.

Shit!

Seems like he’s not affected at all! Does it really not bother him that a handsome guy dropped me off home at night?

I took out my phone and typed something in the group chat.

Then, as I waited for a reply I stared at the wall.

There’s something I want, very badly.

Something I crave with all my heart.

I looked at the door while my mind was thinking about someone far beyond it.

Quincelet

And I will get it, no matter what.
