FIGHTING MEIXIU

"Director Yang, last night I was actually worried about you. Remember that one time that we actually got stuck in the elevator and all the lights turned down?"

"Yes, I do remember. What about it?"

"Last night... The blackout, did it scare you? I planned to come over your house last night Director Yang. Then I remembered I don't have any idea about your address."

"It's fine. I was with someone last night."

"With someone? It might be her husband.", Meiying is talking to herself. She's trying to find a way to know her address. If she's living with her mother, Yang Sora would never call her just to say she misses her. For her to say that, she must be distant with her daughter, or Meixiu could be sleeping somewhere else.

It is possible that since Meixiu is now married according to Jianguo, she must be living with her husband. And that hypothesis of Meiying makes sense whenever she get to see Meixiu reporting to her office the next day with some sever bruises on her body. If what Jianguo said was true, if Meixiu's husband hurts and abuses her, then it must be happening at night at that she must be living with him, whoever he is.

"Meixiu!"

Both the Director of the Yang Emerald Enterprises and her assistant looked at the door, to where the direction of the voice is coming from. Meiying is amazed of what she's seeing right now but Meixiu felt nothing for the woman who just made her grand entrance through the door. "She's up to something. Is this about last night?", Meixiu thought before she looked at Meiying.

"Leave us."

Suyin raised her voice, kicking Meiying out of the room. So Meixiu's assistant had no choice but to leave them. Meixiu on the other hand is trying to hold her temper. Even if Suyin is her twin sister, the woman who's standing firmly and intimidating in front of her has no right to scold her employees like that. Clearly, this Suyin is having a bad temper, a woman who has no professionalism in her brain.

"Suyin, I didn't expect you'd come but it's alright. I actually have something to tell you."

"Which is?"

"I would be so proud to give you some money so you could buy either a solar or a chargeable lamp or flashlight. I don't know, something to help you depend on yourself rather than depending on someone else's husband."

"Shut up! He just did that so no one would blame him if something happened to you!"

"Does it even matter? Whatever the reason is, he clearly chose me over you. If he chose you last night, would you be bothered if he said it is just because of his sense of responsibility for you?"

It seems like Suyin made the wrong decision in invading her territory. Her twin sister's becoming bolder whenever she's here. And she was made stronger by the fact that Chaoxiang stayed with her last night. That made her think it is somehow worth it to fight for her rights as Chaoxiang's one and only legal wife.

"Well I came here because I want to know your reaction when I revealed I kissed your husband. Does it hurt so bad?", Suyin diverted the topic, trying to make a conversation where she could win over her younger sister.

"Haha!"

And because Meixiu is wearing her favorite white pants, she managed to place her legs on top of the table, reclined her chair and laughed with Suyin's question. She admits that a part of her feels disgusted and envious but she wants to make her twin sister feel that she doesn't care. In this race to Chaoxiang's heart, Meixiu knows Suyin is a light year ahead of her, but if there is something she can brag about is that she is now Mrs. Zhao Chaoxiang.

"You kissed him?"

"Yes and he didn't resist."

"I think you would be embarrassed of yourself once you found out Chaoxiang actually kissed me last night, like most couples would do."

"Did he actually do that?", Suyin asked herself. Meixiu saw the sudden change in her expression, as if she has nothing to brag about now. That kiss, that's her alas. If Suyin wants her to describe how it feels like to be kissed by her ex boyfriend, Meixiu would explain it thoroughly.

That kiss is different from their first. He wasn't trying to be aggressive nor did he try to scare her. That certain kiss, given to her at the time she isn't expecting the most, at the time she badly needs some comfort was the best thing Chaoxiang ever gave to her. It took all her worries away and that certain gesture of affection made her come home once again.

"Why is he calling right now?", Meixiu thought after seeing Chaoxiang's incoming call. She took a couple of deep breaths before she grabbed her phone from her desk and answered the call from her husband.

"I want you to let your staffs have a break next week, Friday.", he demanded.

"What? Why?", her voice raised and she saw Suyin wondering.

"Just do it. I don't need to explain it to you. I'll pay each one of them, call it a holiday pay."

"That's not a holiday."

"Again, just do it. Are we clear?"

"I can't promise you that. The company needs to cope up and cover its inconsistencies."

"Say what you want to say, I still want them to have fun next week. Maybe they can come to my fan signing event. But if you're not quite diplomatic then I'm dropping the call."

"Chaoxiang..."

And she felt her tongue tied into a knot after she mentioned his name. Meixiu knows, he is waiting for her to say something. And Suyin is also looking at her. The latter looked shocked the moment she found out it was Chaoxiang who called Meixiu. "Meixiu, you need to have courage. You need to humiliate this woman and show her your position. You are Zhao Chaoxiang's wife.", Meixiu encouraged herself to continue what she's about to say.

"I love you..."

She never stammered in saying those words. And for some reasons, Chaoxiang on the other line felt she was sincere. But there is a part of him saying that she only did that maybe because her mother is around. And if that is the case, he should say the same words to her, if that would make Meixiu's mother feel at ease.

"Is your mom there? Coz if she is, I will say something romantic for you."

And Meixiu smirked while looking at Suyin. Something romantic? What would it be? What if Suyin hears it? Will it make her even more furious? Could it make her feel miserable? Would it make her realize that she is nothing but just and ex.

"Well yes.", she answered confidently.

"Turn your loudspeaker on please."

And so she did. And the next they both heard is...

"Come home for dinner and let's eat together. Keep safe and I love you too."

Even though Chaoxiang just said that for Meixiu's mom to be impressed, Meixiu felt her heart's beating faster. That sent her an indefinable smile on her face, she's in aglow. Her mood lighten up a bit and Suyin's reaction made her boost her energy. The next thing they both noticed is that Chaoxiang already ended the call.

"You really know how to make me mad huh."

"Go on and summon the demons in your side. I will fight square and fair."

"I will make you bleed to death. By all means, I will make you suffer. Chaoxiang will never ever be yours."

And so, the loser left the room. She just can't defeat Meixiu like that. Meixiu knows she isn't strong however she knows she is the legal wife of Chaoxiang. Between her and Suyin, she should be the one who has more courage to represent herself. She should feel privileged of the title given to her, even if they didn't marry because of love.
