Chapter Eighteen

Amaris didn’t move as she stared at ombretta. The latter’s forearm was digging into her collarbone. “Why were you following me?” she gritted out.

Amaris looked her in the eyes. “Where were you going?”

“To get the weapons your second in command asked for.”

“Then why did you sneak out?”

Ombretta laughed, stepping back and throwing her arm towards the way they came. “You think that was sneaking out? You forget, darling. If I didn’t want you to see me you wouldn’t have.”

Amaris’ cheeks turned red. “I still don’t trust you.” she snapped.

Ombretta’s smile turned bitter. “Thank your spirits that Ash trusts you.” she sheathed her withdrawn dagger. You can come with me if you want. Just stay out of the way.”

Amaris’ eyebrows drew. “You’re serious?”

“I don’t joke. Least of all to strangers i don’t like.” Ombretta started walking.

Amaris followed.
