The ship was on fire when they reached it. It was leaving the dock with its sails burning and the main mast splintered in half. Amaris and Ash ran to the edge of the docks. The place was completely empty. No one was on the port or the nearby ships.
Ash called to them yelling at the top of his lungs and waving his arms to catch their attention. Amaris did the same. And once both their throats were sore and their arms felt like they just might fall off, the ship stopped. It didn’t look like it was going to go back though, so Ash jogged across the harbor. “Come on,” He called to Amaris.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“Looking for a boat.” He stopped once he found a small wooden lifeboat. “Get in,” He said as he started untying the rope attached to it.
“Isn’t it someone else’s- ”
