Why did you want to kill him?

Aram, David, Ksyu, Reia, Alex, Kano, and Zen took a long time upstairs to the 13th floor to Chief William's office.

"Knock-knock?" said Aram, knocking on the door.

"Ahaha," Ksyu laughed.

"Chief William, are you there?" Aram asked. But nobody answered.

"Can we come in?" asked Ksyu.

"Wouldn't it be better to wait here?" Reia said.

"Better wait here," Zen agreed.

"Come on guys. Let's go in," David said.

"Are you sure? Won't we get nothing for this?" Alex said.

At that moment, Aram had already opened the door.

"Ahem ahem," everyone heard a voice behind them and almost jumped in place from fright. They were Chief William and Felix.

"We are …" Alex began to stutter.

"We thought you were inside," Kano said calmly.

"I see," said Chief William. "In any case, come in, have a seat."

The director's office was a completely dark and gloomy room. Photos, maps, plans, diagrams hung everywhere. There was not a single "living space" on the walls. A huge dartboard could be seen on the left, with darts stuck into the center of the target. On the right were a huge mirror and a coat rack. There was an absolute mess on the table: papers, books, folders and notebooks, a huge amount of pens and pencils. Somewhere lay a figurine of an incomprehensible creature, a couple of darts, bags of coffee, and even a magnifying glass. But this mess was absolutely stylish and atmospheric. But the strangest thing was the number of doors leaving the room. There were three.

"Have a seat," Chief William said.

There were chairs everywhere in the room and even a huge black sofa. Nevertheless, the guys decided to bring the chairs to Chef William's table and sit in a more formal setting than on the sofa. It was embarrassing. At that moment Felix sat down on the edge of the director's desk and smiled.

"He definitely does it on purpose," thought Ksyu. "But he doesn't get any less hot," she said to herself, and her heart began to beat faster.

"Why is he so handsome, huh?" thought David.

"I wish I had such a boyfriend," Reia thought.

As Felix sat on the table, his smile grew wider and wider.

"Such nice students we have... Yes, William?" he asked, turning to his bosom friend.

"What is it with you all of a sudden?" William said in bewilderment but quickly scored on Felix. He was already used to his sometimes strange behavior. When students sat around the table, he continued. "And so guys, I want you to tell in detail what happened before and during when you realized that there is a real person inside the hologram."

"This all happened thanks to the abilities of Ksyu and Aram," said David.

"And what are your abilities?" Chief William asked.

"I'll tell you how everything was in the right order," answered Ksyu. "My passive ability is that I can talk to spirits. To do this, I need to concentrate enough. But sometimes it happens that the spirits themselves contact me. This doesn't happen very often because the spirits are generally not the friendliest guys. In our case, this is exactly what happened. The guy's spirit tried to contact me. I concentrated and saw him. His face was haggard and he was mooing."

"Mooing?" Felix asked.

"Yes," Reia replied. "This is because he most likely did not die completely, so to speak. He had not yet adapted to the afterlife and there was something that held him back in the real world. Therefore, he could not speak normally. But from his tortured face and the sounds he made, I guessed that he was asking us to save him. But then my strength ran out, and I lost touch with him. While I was coming to my senses, Aram approached him and activated his superpower. He screamed terribly, but…."

"She wanted to stop him," Kano said, "but we didn't let her."

"And what did you do, Aram?" Chief William asked with a serious look.

"My ability is that by touching the corpse of a person, I can feel how he was dying."

Felix's expression changed. He looked at William but then turned back to Aram.

"Go on," Chief William said.

"I activated my ability on him and realized that something was choking him, destroying all the air around him. And then his heart suddenly stopped."

"Oh, it probably hurts?" said Felix.

"Yes, there is such a negative outcome," said Aram. "Of course, I do not feel 100% pain that a person does, but if, say, he is cut down, and the pain exists at that moment, I still feel it."

"It's not easy for you," Chief William said. "What happened next?"

"Then, Reia gave him a heart massage and was about to give artificial respiration when he woke up. You know the rest."

"Have you noticed anything strange during your investigation?" Chief William asked.

"It seems not," said Aram.

"Did you know the guy who was lying on the floor in a room on the third floor before?" Chief William asked, looking intently at Aram.

"No," they all answered together.

"And one more thing: where were you when we presented the third task?" Felix asked.

"We stood towards the end of the hall and listened intently to you," Reia said absolutely calmly.

"Okay. I understood," said Chief William. "If no one else has anything to tell us, you can disperse."

The guys got up from the chairs and started walking towards the exit.

"Except you, Aram," continued Chief William.

Everyone turned and looked at Aram in bewilderment.

"Did he do something wrong?" Reia asked suspiciously.

"Don't worry guys, everything is okay," Felix said. "We just wanted to talk to him about something," he continued with a smile.

"Is it because of his ability?" Zen thought.

"You are upsetting me, handsome boy," thought Ksyu.

"Everything is okay," said Aram. "Go, I'll catch up with you."

"I wonder why they decided to detain me here?" thought Aram. " Maybe it is really because of my superpowers?"

The door slammed shut behind Aram.

"And so Aram, sit down again, please," said Chief William. "And tell me please, why did you want to kill Rosen?"

"What? Aram asked, stunned. "Are you talking about the guy we saved?"

"Yes, his name is Rosen. Didn't you know?" Chief William asked.

"I saw him for the first time in my life," Aram said in surprise.

"Why did you call him to the toilet?" Chief William asked.

"I did not invite him there."

"Tell me where were you when we announced the third test?" Chief William asked inquisitively.

Aram froze.

"I was in the toilet..." Aram said. "But, but, wait! I didn't invite anyone there!"

"Do you know where Rosen was strangled?" Chief William asked.

"In the toilet?" Aram asked. He didn't understand what was happening. His body began to tremble.

"Yes," said Chief William.

"I, I…." Aram lowered his head. "I haven't done anything wrong."

Felix noticed that Aram began to feel uneasy.

"William, that's enough. I don't think he's an accomplice," Felix said. "Aram, which toilet were you in?" he asked, turning to Aram.

Aram was embarrassed. He remembered where David had taken him and blushed even more.

"So?" William asked.

"I was in the toilet on the second floor, which is situated on the right side of the Academy" answered Aram, embarrassed.

"On the second floor… ." William thought. "Stop, this is the women's toilet!"

Felix started laughing.

"No! Do not misunderstand me. I just confused it with the guy's toilet and realized that it was female only when I heard the voices of the girls from the booth. I had to sit and wait for them all to come out, and so I was late for the test."

"The bad detectives among us," Felix said. "Forgive us, Aram. We probably scared you. But we must definitely find this killer. First, because of what he did, and second, because he attacked the wrong victim."

"What do you mean by saying the wrong one?" Aram asked in surprise. "Didn't he mean to kill Rosen?"

"No," Felix answered. "He was looking for a guy named Zen. But he confused him with Rosen. Do you happen to know a student named Zen?"

"I know," Aram said slowly. "He just left this room."

"What?" shouted William. "Fine. We need to bring him back here!" he said and jumped across his huge table. "Felix, let's run, something could happen to him right now!"

"Aram, you are with us!" shouted Felix. "Help us find him."

All three left the office. Ksyu stood at the door.

"What are you doing here? Never mind, it doesn't matter," Chief William said. "Where did the rest go?"

"Um ... to the first floor."

"Call the elevator, Felix," Chief William said.

"Zen is in danger!" said Aram. "Someone wanted to kill him, not that guy."

"What? Why?" Ksyu said, stunned.

"I do not know. And they seem to be too," said Aram, pointing at the chief William and Felix.

The lift reached the first floor.

"There they are!" Aram shouted, and pointed to the guys crowded around the sofas in the hall.

"Wait, where is Zen then? Why isn't he there?" Ksyu said frightened.

"Heck!" Chief William said. "Why on the first day everything goes wrong?"

"Where are your guys?" Felix asked William.

"Here they are," said Chief William.

Three men dressed in black approached them.

"Did you find him?" Chief William asked.

"No! Sorry! But he is nowhere to be found!" said one of the guys.

"What do you mean by saying no?! You are the Special Emergency Squad and you can't find one single guy? What's going on with you?" shouted Chief William.

Meanwhile, Ksyu and Aram approached the guys.

"Where is Zen?" Aram asked anxiously.

"Something happened?" Alex asked.

"He went to the toilet…." Reia said.

Aram and Ksyu were so shocked that it seemed as if someone had nailed them to the floor.

"Oh my God," said Aram, covering his face with his hand.

"What? What happened?" David asked.

"We need to find Zen urgently. He might be in danger," said Aram. "The killer's real target was not the guy we found in the room on the third floor. He wanted to kill Zen, but confused him with Rosen."

Alex, Kano, Reia, and David were shocked by what they heard. At that moment, Chief William and Felix approached them.

"Which one of you is Zen?" Felix asked.

"Noone," said Kano.

"He went to the toilet," Aram said in a low voice.

"What?" simultaneously shouted Felix and Chief William.

"Which one?" Chief William asked.

"When we took the elevator down, he asked us to stop on the third floor," David said.

"To the third floor, quickly!" said Felix.

"Aram, you come with us. The rest can search for him in the academy or stay here on the spot. He can suddenly return and maybe it is us dramatizing the situation. Anyway, if you find Zen, keep him close and don't let him go anywhere. When you find him, tell one of those guys in black about it. It doesn't matter whom" said Chief William.

Aram, Felix, and Chief William ran to the elevator again.

"What's going on here?" Alex said.

"I don't know, but we'd better figure it out and do something to find Zen faster," Kano said.

"Maybe someone will stay here, and the other 2 by 2 will go looking for him around the academy?" David asked.

"Fine. I... I'm ready to stay," Alex said.

Kano looked at Alex for a few seconds but then turned away. Alex's mood immediately dropped.

"I think I need to pay a visit to the guy we rescued and find out what he looked like. Maybe we can find at least one clue," Reia said.

"I'm with you then," said Ksyu.

"Then Kano and I will go look for Zen in the toilets and on the third floor," David said.

"Good luck to us!" they shouted all together and scattered on different sides, except for Alex.

Reia and Ksyu went up to the second floor. After passing along the corridor where there was a women's toilet, they turned left. There was a first-aid post.

"How can I help?" Janet asked at the entrance.

"We need a guy, whom Chief William and Felix most likely brought to you today," said Ksyu.

"And can I find out why you need it?" Janet asked.

"We have to find out something from him," answered Ksyu.

"I'm afraid I won't let you do this, because he needs rest. Come tomorrow, when it will be at least a little easier for him," said Janet, crossing her arms in front of her.

"But this is a matter of life and death!" Ksyu shouted. "Let me see him," she said and tried to walk through the door.

"What is the matter of life and death?" Janet asked incredulously. She still didn't let Ksyu pass.

"Our friend is in danger. That is the question," Reia said coldly. "And the information that only the guy behind you knows, we can get only from him. Let me go."

"How can I trust you? How can I believe you don't want to kill him?"Janet asked.

She was already getting on the nerves of both Ksyu and Reia.

"Listen here, you old nag," said Ksyu furiously. "You are a medic and you have to save lives. So do what you are told. If my friend dies because of you, I will dismember you. Understood?"
