I can't help but release a sigh of relief, I made it and by the skin of my teeth too.
As the adrenaline pumping through my veins comes to a screeching halt I feel the exhaustion hitting me in waves.
I search for a den or opening in a tree trunk to rest my fatigued body. I am lucky enough to find what looks like an animal's abandoned home in the trunk of the tree.
I shift into my human form, hearing the cracking of my bones and climbing into the tree hollow, I make myself cozy.
Laying my head down on my arms and curling myself into a tight ball, I immediately surrender to the beckoning arms of sleep.
Waking up with a stretch and a yawn, I peer out of my temporary residence noticing it is now dark out.
Estimating it to be about 10 pm, I make sure there is nothing lurking in the shadows. Using my sharp hearing, I crawl out of the safety of my tree and begin hunting.
I could literally eat a cow right now, I was that hungry.
I shift into wolf form and using my night vision I begin to stalk my prey. I quickly catch a couple of bunnies and a squirrel to satisfy my hunger and chow down. It often bothers me to eat such beautiful creatures but it's either I eat or starve and die, the latter option being less than desirable.
I hone my senses to locate a stream, my ears picking up the sound of trickling water. I run past some trees and after 5 minutes I see this babbling brook, the trickling of water rushing down the stream could almost lull me to sleep, lying down on my paws I lap at the water lazily.
I shifted back into my human form, deciding to take a bath as I took a whiff of my armpits. I flinched back almost passing out because my goddess did I smell.
I sink myself into the water. "I could kill for a bar of soap right now", I whispered to myself. Sighing deeply, I tried to clean myself to the best of my ability.
Climbing out of the water something I should have realized long before dawned on me, I did not remember to bring any clothes.
As I sat there unsure of what to do I started wondering if the moon goddess even thought about anything when creating me. I was 6'1, absolutely curvaceous, and had stellar looks. Who am I kidding, I snorted to myself. I could barely pass the height limit for the rides at amusement parks coming in at 5'3, I wasn't drop dead gorgeous but I wasn't ugly so I took that as a plus with having a slim figure and I clearly had no brains considering I left one of the most essential things at home.
Thankfully I had the good sense to have my mom attach a small bag with my phone and credit card to my waist.
Finding inspiration in my favourite movie Ocean's 8 I decided to steal some clothes, patting myself on the back for such quick thinking.
Before tonight I never imagined I would be doing this and if anybody had said this to me a week ago I would call them insane.
I begin walking north not yet shifting, passing by trees and nocturnal animals scurrying in the bushes not showing themselves as they sense my predatory nature.
There's just something about walking through the forest in the dead of night, my body getting air-dried by the wind with everything on display and knowing not a single soul could see me.
I sniff out a nearby human settlement, creeping through backyards hoping to find some clothes on a clothesline.
A few houses down I spot some fresh laundry and sprint over to it. Not even bothering to observe my surroundings, I pull the clothes off the line, studying them and checking the size like I am at a clothing rack at the mall.
I hear a gasp from behind me and I stiffen up. I slowly turn around to find a young boy and his parents sitting comfortably on their patio, probably star gazing, staring at me, their mouths agape.
The older man, who was probably in his late 30s, clearly didn't realize he was speaking aloud when he whispered, "damn what I would do to be young again." Licking his lips he seems mesmerized at my body staring at it with no shame.
He is stunned when his wife turns to him and slaps him across the face, his head turning from the impact and the sound echoing.
The man sat in shock clearly not realizing he said that out loud.
I see the woman rush inside calling her son into the house who is blatantly staring at me, his father frozen in place much like myself.
The cocking of a shot gun quickly took me out of my frozen state as I see the curly haired lady on the back porch, veins almost bursting out of her neck. Her eyes were bloodshot and almost crazed looking, the clear rage on her face was enough to scare me shitless.
I quickly bound towards the fence narrowly missing a bullet to the head. "You indecent homewrecker" was yelled at my back as I high-tailed it out of there with the clothes in hand making it back to the safety of my den. Placing the clothes beside me and looking at it thinking out loud. "This is why I don't go shopping".
