Let's Book a Room

Ainsley didn't care about the other person that Gavyn was speaking to. After all, it wasn't his business. He only took a glance and then jogged at Gavyn who moved away from the other person as if taking away Ainsley's eyeshot with him. "Hey, I thought I wouldn't see you again."

"I'm going to be around for a while longer." With a chuckle, he watched the smiling man approach him. "The doctors just got breakthroughs about the disease. I want to stay until they're done… perhaps until they developed a cure."

"Perfect! Let me treat you to dinner!" Ainsley set aside his earlier plans. "You already declined me paying for your medical expenses. Don't decline me again, please!"

"Alright, I will oblige this time." Gavyn only sighed with a resigned smile. He then gestured for Ainsley to lead the way, and the man started to speak while he was leading Gavyn around to get to that family restaurant that he was thinking of. The gleam in his eyes was filled with amusement as if finding so much entertainment in Ainsley's company.

"High place?" Gavyn's brows lifted. He then hummed as he thought of it. For some reason, he chuckled. "My hotel has thirty-eight floors. I think we can get to the roof in the guise of going to the outdoor pool. Will that do?"

"W-wow, thirty-eight floors…" Ainsley said so, but he had seen the skyline from the fifty-fifth floor of the King Industries Tower. Then again, since he couldn't see the same skyline that fit the vision, he figured he needed to go another place. "Sure! Let's go there!"

Gavyn hid a smile as he looked down, forking a slice of his steak. He then hummed. "But there's a little problem. The outdoor pool is only open during the day. I might have to negotiate with the management. Either that… or that we could try to find a way to break into it."

However, Ainsley then chuckled like an evil man. He then took out his phone, intending to call Sinclair to make miracles for him. After all, that was an outdoor pool. "Don't worry, I can make calls if it's just negotiating with the management. Leave this to me!"

Gavyn's brows lifted again. He only surrendered with a chuckle. "Alright, if you have ways, then I will listen to you, Ainsley."

"Great! Just wait for me here. I'll make the call!"

Ainsley hurried to leave his seat and walked to a place he could beg Sinclair even if the man was in the middle of a meeting. After all, he was just going to text Sinclair instead. He couldn't call deliberately now that he knew Sinclair was in a meeting. However, before he could send the text, Sinclair called him instead.

The friend almost dropped his phone in surprise. He then hurriedly answered as if he was caught red-handed even if he wasn't doing anything strange in particular. "Hey, Sinco! I was just thinking of calling you! Is your meeting done?"

"Why?" Sinclair was distracted, but then he just dropped it. In a whisper, he spoke again as if he was concealing his voice, "Cheese pizza."

"Sinco, oh, my God! You need to help me! I'm getting attacked by this dog!" Ainsley ran to the restroom to not alarm the people. He then saw that no one was inside, and so he could fake the hysteria as much as he wanted. It's just that a staff member came to his aid when he ran and started screaming like a maniac.

"Alright. I'll be there." Sinclair feigned his alarm from the other end as well. He then swept his eyes at the board as he got out of the meeting room. He cued the secretary to dismiss the meeting because of the 'emergency' that happened.

What a rather embarrassing safe word. Still, it did wonders. Sinclair didn't want to deal with those old people anymore; they even imposed on his free time. Just because he openly called them out, they wanted to discuss it with him like he had butchered a million-dollar deal.

As soon as he got to the staircase to climb up three floors to get to his office, he then chuckled as he listened to the sounds of Ainsley explaining to a staff member. After Ainsley offered for him to speak with Sinclair King over the phone, the staff grew frightened. It was because he switched to a loudspeaker and had Sinclair say something.

"Gosh, give me a few minutes next time." Ainsley sighed as the staff left.

"You didn't have to rush." Sinclair laughed as he opened the door of his office. He walked into the inner office and packed up. "You said you were thinking of calling me?"

"Yeah, do you remember Gavyn?" As if forgetting what happened seconds earlier, Ainsley excitedly narrated the matter. Even if he received a snort from Sinclair, he still waited for a good answer.

Sinclair opened his mouth to assent, and then he just saw Stuart enter the office for some more reports as if reminding him of the urgent things for tomorrow. He then spoke while he was still on the phone with Ainsley. "Stuart, book me a room…"

After a few minutes, Sinclair had arrived at the hotel that Gavyn stayed. Ainsley had gone there with the doctor, and Sinclair felt very strange about it. He really didn't want Ainsley to come with people he just met, but Sinclair didn't want to infringe on his friend's other relationships. He could only come here to make sure Ainsley was safe.

Moreover, he wanted to keep an eye on this Gavyn guy. His guts had never told him to be cautious because of his strength, but he had tagged that man for something he couldn't explain.

"The outdoor pool is open for you, Master." Stuart reminded the dragon as if he found Sinclair distracted again. "Should I inform Mr. Leneghan and Mr. Hawke that you have arrived?"

"Yes. I'll meet them there." He just wanted to get things done as soon as possible. He was tired from thinking about so many things, and yet none of them had been solved over the day. With a whim, he then cleared his throat and gave an order. "Get something for us to use as well."
