Audacity to Challenge Me

When Ainsley and Gavyn got to the outdoor pool, he saw Stuart waiting outside. Since he was only there to greet them without much emotion, Ainsley only obliged to the greeting. He walked into the roof and saw that a few lights were set up as well. However, the night view from the roof was rather breathtaking. It was akin to the aerial view of the city at night.

He ran to the protected edge and whistled. His eyes shone like the lights were reflecting on them. "Sinco, Sinco! Look! I can see the tower from here!" Their building could be seen from everywhere in the city, though. Still, Ainsley had the habit of pointing it out as if unknowingly tooting Sinclair's horn almost everywhere they went.

Sinclair was on one of the benches. He was still in his suit, but his shoes and socks were taken off. After all, it was prohibited at the rooftop. Gavyn was removing his shoes and socks at the side where a small locker for shoes was. It seemed that it was indeed reserved for goers during the morning. Only Ainsley ignored the signage at his face earlier.

The CEO had the lights on him so his skin wouldn't be receiving the moonlight despite the moon overhead. Actually, that was the reason why there were lights installed, not really a safety concern.

Upon hearing Ainsley, he only hummed. However, he just eyed Gavyn who walked towards the bench next to him. The doctor only smiled before casting his gaze at the other man who was running from one edge to the other.

Gavyn realized that the pool had lights at the base as well as if it was readied for night use. Was the CEO looking to swim later? In his suit? When his eyes wandered up, he noticed that Sinclair was watching him rather intently. He could only smile at the CEO. "Is something wrong, Mr. King?"

Now that he was noticed, Sinclair only hummed before speaking. "Do you know why Ainsley came here? What did he tell you?"

"…he said that he wanted to get to a high place to find a view in his dream. It could be connected to his mental state." Gavyn only chuckled as if a little entertained by Sinclair's strange behavior.

"You're a family doctor, right? Are you also a psychiatrist?"

At this, Gavyn only chuckled. He couldn't stay oblivious of Sinclair's hostility towards him. It didn't seem to be unfounded, but he still thought that it was quite funny. "Mr. King, that's my license, but when you do your practice in the mountains, you might have to cover everything that doesn't require any delicate surgery. Simple dream interpretation is normal for me."

Obviously, Sinclair didn't buy it. However, since the man was lying to him—or in his opinion; the CEO thought of tagging this man right now. It's just that it sounded bad as soon as Ainsley found out about it. After all, this man was his new friend.

"Ainsley, you should remove your shoes first before going around." Gavyn only laughed to break the silence. He saw the narrow glare that Sinclair had given him, but he decided not to care anymore. As long as he didn't have to care about the man, he might as well forget about Sinclair's existence.

"My shoes?" Ainsley turned to them and saw that their feet were bare, not noticing the rather tense atmosphere between the two other men. He then hurried to the spot after Gavyn's instructions. Right, he shouldn't dirty the poolside with his shoes. At the thought, he even wanted to remove his work suit. "Can we use the pool, Sinco? You don't mind if I…"

Sinclair glanced at him and chuckled. "Did you manage to do what you need to do here?"

When Ainsley remembered the matter, he twitched. Then again, he was actually doing it earlier. He just pranced to the same bench Sinclair was sitting at, driving himself to sit just around the legs so he didn't have to push the other… which would totally happen if Gavyn was not there with them.

"I was looking around earlier. It didn't fit the vision, but… I have a feeling that I'm at the right place." Ainsley only crossed his arms on his chest. "It feels so strange. It might be close, I guess."

He then looked at the distance, at the night sky that he could see over the bright lights of the city. "I'm at the right place. Maybe tonight… the vision will change. Hopefully, it gives me more clues. I really want to find it." He said 'it' because he fibbed to Gavyn. He just couldn't tell the doctor—a man of science—the truth about the dragon heart.

Those eyes were seen by the two other men. Sinclair only sighed before glancing at the doctor who was watching Ainsley with amusement. He really wanted to pluck the doctor's eyes out as if they bothered him. Distracting himself with the bag on the floor next to him, he reached out for it and handed it to Ainsley. "It would be strange if we asked for the pool, and our hair isn't even wet."

"What does that mean?" Ainsley then opened the designer paper bag and saw swimwear inside. His eyes then glittered, and he looked around for a place to change. He then turned to Sinclair with a wide grin. In the end, he just didn't do anything since someone else was with them. He just asked, "Where should we change?"

"There's a restroom just past the bar area. Go change. I have mine on already." Sinclair shooed the other person, and Ainsley reverted into a little child that received his first toy train. He invited Gavyn to the restroom with a very delighted smile.

At that, Gavyn only nodded and followed the almost prancing adult child. He then turned to take a look at Sinclair who eyed the doctor as well. However, at that very moment, Sinclair gave a proud smirk as if saying: 'I'm the only one capable of making him smile like that.'

It was actually entertaining, but the smugness made Gavyn glare. He then turned away and followed Ainsley. Under his breath, he spoke through his gritted teeth. "You even had the audacity to challenge me? I'm not really that interested, but alright…"

He smiled to himself. "Let's play."
