Trouble came knocking

For three days now, Salen has been trying to get the attention of the devil's incarnate, but so far, he hasn't been successful at all. It seems like the more he tries to get Mar's attention, the more Mar avoids him.

And each time, I'm always the buffer Mar wedges Salen's attention with.

Presently, I'm more like the devil incarnate in Salen's eyes. Should you see the way he looks at me, you will pity my poor soul.

He acts as if I've stolen the male he wants, for myself. While the truth of the matter is this, the boss wants absolutely nothing to do with the male who doesn't know the difference between rejection and acceptance.

He thinks the boss loves him, but couldn't do so because of me.

*Scoffs*

Love?

Just the thought of that makes me want to rotate on the floor as I laugh my heart out at the stupid assumption.

Does he like the devil's incarnate?

That doesn't mean everyone loves that Devil.

Flashback to what happened a day ago.

I whistled as I prepared to go. Today I'm in an excellent mood as the boss just told me we don't have an after-work project work today.

That's why I'm so happy. To the point I might reach the skies should I so much as I care to go there.

The door to my office opened as I was dancing and jubilating.

"Good evening, Mr Salen." I greet the unexpected guest, "Mr Mar is in his office."

I immediately redirected him to the place he was supposed to be, as I don't see any reason why he should be there.

"I didn't come for Mar, I came to see you." He said you as if it were something equivalent to faeces in his language.

"Oh," I straighten as I automatically took a professional pose, "is it about your work? Mar didn't give that to me. He had Dozzy do that."

You should have seen how I begged the boss not to give the work to me. And thankfully, he didn't give the said work to me. He must have known I wouldn't do the work should it be allocated to me.

"That's not why I am here." Salen walked closer to me, and expertly closed the gap between us.

"What did I do?" I swallow a lump as I tried to think of the reason he singled me out of everyone in the entire building.

But I can't think of any.

Aside from the fact I happened to be in Mar's office on how first day here, I see no evident relationship between us.

"I know you love Mar. I can see it in your eye....."

I scoff at his words.

"Me? Love Mar?" I laughed at those words, "wonders shall never cease."

When I thought I'd heard everything, turned out I haven't heard half of it.

Who in their right senses will think I have the hots for Mar?

"You can deny it all you want, but I see it in your face." He points at me, "I'll advise you, Osy or whatever it is you call yourself. Don't cross me, else you'll regret ever being born. I'm a cobra, when I strike, I take casualties with me."

" Wait a minute, Mr Salen. We are in a civilized environment, and we need to act in a civilized manner.

The boss you are talking about is nothing but my boss. And I don't like him. If you have the hots for him, you can tell him yourself.

Stop relying on petty threats on his workers. This isn't the way a grown-up acts."

I must confess that Salen though he's older than I am, presents himself in a way I never can.

He makes himself not only presentable, but desirable to those who might like someone as sassy as he is.

"I don't care how much you deny it, Osy. All I know is you should steer clear of Mar should you not want me to misinterpret the relationship between the two of you."

"Then you need to tell the boss to stop calling me for the project *I'll love it if he gets the boss to let me out of the hook for the project* Tell him to remove me from it, and never call me up."

Should Salen be able to do that, I'll forever be grateful to him for getting me released from the mouth of the tiger, and giving me the victory I so deserve.

"And you think I will do that for you?" He scoffed, "I don't care how you do your work, Osy, but know this. I'll deal with you should I find out you are still going to my Mar's office."

He's not going to help me out, and he's still ranting?

I scoff.

"Are you through?" I purse my lips.

"Through with what?" He blinked in surprise.

"If you are through with your rants, you can see yourself out of the door. I have better things to do than listen to you." I gesture to the door," It's still open."

" How…." He fumed in anger. " I'll deal with you."

" And I'll be waiting.*

End of flashback

*

I hurried into the building when I noticed how much time I wasted at the coffee shop, trying to buy coffee for my insufferable boss who doesn't appreciate the amount of work I put in to be a good worker.

I can hear the whispers from the workers as I walked past them, towards the elevator.

Unlike the normal days, none of the females endeavored to call my attention to them. They are seemingly more engrossed in whatever is on their phones to give me a look.

"Who knows the latest gossip in town?" I shrug at that thought as I hurried to the elevator.

Presently, I have far more pressing things to take care of that don't include listening to them gossiping all the way.

As the elevator went up, the females who were engrossed in their phones all looked up at me as they said something inaudible.

What's it now?
