CHAPTER ONE:THE STORM PORTAL
Crysanthe stared down at the sea. Waves crashed against the sides of her ship. Her twin older brother Cypress was driving the boat. It was a small boat, definitely not meant to be in the middle of a storm. But here she was. The storm had suddenly appeared. She wasn't quite sure what to do. She pulled her eyes away from the water and started helping. First she tied her brother and her together. The rope was roughly 15 meters long. It was long enough for her to help around the ship without disturbing her brother. She grabbed a bucket and started to pour the water out of the boat. Waves crashed, lightning struck, and thunder boomed. Gray clouds engulfed the sky. Night was soon to come. Then it would be hard to steer. She wondered who was creating this ginormous storm. Perhaps she had angered Lyn. She had a bad temper, and had an addiction of causing storms. That was her power. Her older brother Cypress could control ice and snow. And her? She didn't have one. Only 0.000001% of the population didn't have powers. She was part of that miniscule population. She got bullied for it. She had always wished with all her heart that she had powers. She begged Arcus every day to give her a special ability. Her response in her dreams was always, she only gave people no power if they were strong. She didn't really believe she was. She stared down at herself. She had skinny arms and legs. No muscle to be seen. She worked out but nothing ever happened.
"Crysanthe! The storm is starting to ease up!" Her brother called from the wheel.
A rainbow formed in front of them. They got closer and closer, then Crysanthe realized something weird. The air seemed to vibrate. This was quite odd. What was going on!?
"Brother! Turn around!" She hollered at the top of her lungs, but it was too late.
They entered the vibrating air. It was a portal! It sucked her up, and she started to feel like she was dead. What, she had survived the storm to get this? Why did this have to happen to her? Why not some super powerful element user, like Lyn. She was weak. Nothing about her was strong. She had zero power. Not even an ounce of it resided in her blood. She was weak. Ordinary. Unimportant. She was simply
weak. Because she was short, even a tiny drop of power would make her more powerful. One sec, lemme explain. So the shorter you are, the closer your power will be to grouped, meaning that you will use one short but very powerful burst of power. While taller people, they have their power farther apart, so they unleash long, weaker bursts. Only the super skilled can manipulate their power to do short, powerful bursts. Same goes for short people, but for long, weaker bursts. Okay, now let's resume the tale of this kid. By now she had reached the end of the portal. She found herself in a blizzard. Great, she thought. She was only wearing short sleeves and leggings. They had been on a vacation near Loputa Island. It was meant to be hot. Then the storm had hit and left her in this horrible situation. Storms pretty much never appeared near Loputa Island. It was like a once every century thing. She was so unlucky. She would freeze to death by the end of the day. She shivered. Then she looked around. Where was her brother!? Hadn't she tied herself to him. She looked at the ground. The rope was ripped in two. She untied the knot, then she started to shiver. She needed to warm up. She needed to work out. She found an old tree log. She dragged it to a spot. She gathered more logs, and she started to warm up. Then Crysanthe started to dig. She dug in the snow. She dug deeper. Farther and farther. Soon she was able to stand in the hole without her head poking out. Now she started to make it wider, not deeper. By now her hands were numb, but at least she was working out. It was getting too hard to throw the snow up so high, so she compacted the walls that she wouldn't be digging in. When she was satisfied that it was wide enough she stopped. She dug small holes in the wall, trust her, that was hard. Then Crysanthe used them to climb up. She gathered the strongest branches from the wood, and kicked them off. She realized that after lugging all those trees she had started to develop muscle. She dropped them down the hole, then jumped down after them. She angled her feet to land on the one patch of snow that wasn't covered in branches. She dug a shape in the wall, it was a ladder. It didn't go all the way up, but it would have to do. She stuck the branches in, then filled in the gaps with snow and ice. Now she had a ladder. She climbed up, testing the ladder. It worked! She then got up and stripped the bark from all the logs. She dropped it down, then decided to jump instead of using the ladder. She spent the rest of the morning lining the hole with bark, except the bottom. Wait, morning? She noticed that when she got to the blizzard it was morning. How? She must have spent more time than she realized stuck in the portal. She also observed that the blizzard had stopped a while back, but she had been too focused on her work to notice. It was almost time for bed. She grabbed branches and piled them on the bottom to use as a bed. She was so tired that she fell asleep in seconds. In her dream she felt a presence. It had a powerful aura. She knew it could potentially be dangerous, so she stepped backwards.
"Hello Crysanthe." A woman with a dreamy voice like Arcus's greeted her.
She then appeared. She had golden hair and eyes that changed color in the stream of light. Her dark skin blended in with an oak tree's bark. Well, that was definitely Arcus. Long braided golden hair, rainbow eyes, and dark skin. That was for sure Arcus. Arcus wore a long flowing green dress. A bow and arrows were strung along her back.
Crysanthe bowed to Arcus as she said, "My lady, all due respect, but why have you visited me in my dreams?"
"Oh, no need for such formalities, think of me as an old friend." Arcus responded.
"Ok, but we're not really friends, you just won't give me an ability." She replied.
"Just think of me as a sister then." Arcus said.
"Why would I think of you as a sister? You are an all powerful goddess while I'm just a weak human who can't even get a power." Crysanthe asked sadly.
"Because you're not human." Arcus answered her question.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that you are not human. You are a goddess. I cannot give you power because you are a higher ranked goddess than me, older sister." Was her claim.
"Huh?" Crysanthe said, confused.
"You are, you just haven't discovered your power yet. That storm you ran into, that wasn't natural. The supreme god, Partumas, created that storm. I made the portal. Welcome to your home." Arcus explained.
