BECOMING NEW

She really didn't feel like staying for the feast, so she quickly left. She snuck out so carefully that nobody noticed. When she got to her room, she realized how inconvenient long hair was. So she grabbed a pair of scissors from the bathroom and cut her hair short. Snip by snip. She was attentive to keep the line even. each snip changing her appearance. It felt like rejuvenating herself. Her lost energy came back to her. She had changed her name, might as well change her appearance too. She felt odd. Like by the simple act of cutting her hair she was becoming a real goddess. She was Flosi now. She was now longer Crysanthe. Careful snip by careful snip. Soon her hair became short. She looked in the mirror and decided she liked it. Flosi realized she should probably take a shower to get the tangles out and to get and cut hair that remained clinging onto her hair. She took the shower and noticed how the shampoo had changed scent. It was a sweet smell. It also smelled like the rain. It was light, you would hardly notice the smell in her hair. The body wash had the same smell. She watched the cut hairs go down the drain. Steam filled the bathroom. She then turned off the shower and dried herself with a towel. She found a simple pale green nightgown in the closet to wear. It was made of thin fabric so she wouldn't get too hot in bet, after all, spring was approaching. She brushed her teeth, using a toothpaste that also smelled slightly sweet and of rain. She cleaned her teeth well that night, determined to wash her soul. It would do her good. She was starting a new chapter of life, and that always required a soul cleansing. So when she finished brushing her teeth, she decided to let her hair dry naturally, knowing that it would curl more that way. Then she jumped down from the window and opened her wings to let her gentled float down. When her feet touched the still icy ground, It felt nice. They were bare, but it felt nice because she welcomed the cold. The chill of ice felt nice. She didn't understand why, but it did. Her nightgown was so thin, so she felt that even if she hadn't worn clothes she wouldn't have been any colder. She walked for quite some time, remembering her first venture to Endless Road. She continued to walk until she reached it. Then she took a sharp turn back to the forest. she walked until she reached the lake, then followed it to where she knew the glacier lay. She walked on and on, enjoying the cold. Her hair had dried by now, but she still felt wet. It might be some drops of water that got onto her clothes she thought. When she reached the glacier, she felt a new level of calmness. She hopped from rock to rock, then hopped onto the glacier. She knew it would start to melt soon, so she felt she must enjoy this. The glacier wasn't the tallest, so she hoisted herself onto the top within a few minutes. She sat at the top. The cold wind blew up, forcing her nightgown to lift slightly. She knew she could've flew up here instead of risking falling into the freezing water, but for some reason she hadn't flew. Perhaps it was because she wished to feel human once more. The strong current rocked the glacier slightly. She stared up, the sun had almost finished to set, and the sky was a painting of pinks, purples, oranges, and reds. A flock of birds flew across the perfect sunset, making it more perfect. She glanced down to see a fish leap out of the water. And on that cold night, Flosi fell asleep. A new person.
