Chapter 7

Dead? Did I finally manage to kill him? I shuddered as I remembered that Ghost had turned himself into an immortal. So that wasn't possible.

I did hear one thing though- Ghost's powers could be diminished to such a point that he wouldn't be able to do anything but live.

So did I just do that?

I gasped as I saw Ghost's head move. He slowly raised his head up. I gasped again as I saw that his eyes were now red- out of immense anger. They looked as if they were thirsty for revenge. Terrifying.

For a few seconds, I was unable to move, but I managed to gather all of my strength, and I forced my body to work against my surprised brain. I started running before Ghost could completely pull himself up. Running like I never did before. I headed towards home and reached it in just 15 seconds. 15 seconds! Quite unbelievable for a distance of 2 blocks!

But anyway, I opened the door and stepped in.

My parents, who were watching the news on the TV, jumped on the leather couch they were sitting on because of my abrupt entry.

I quickly closed the door, removed my parka, and told my parents all about what just happened. I didn't tell them anything about the gold though - yet.

They were, as I kind of expected, quite nonchalant to what I told them. I kept on insisting that it was the truth, but they just wouldn't listen or believe.

"It's ok, Mike. Calm down. I know you had a really difficult day today studying History. After all, I really hated it too." My dad said.

"But dad..."

"Myths aren't always true, Mike. You know that. And..."

"But Dad, I'm serious, I..."

"You know what? I'll let you watch your favorite show on the TV tonight. Help calm yourself down."

"Never mind, I'll just go to bed. Don't have anything to do if parents don't believe in their own kids."

"Mike..." My mom started.

"It's alright. I'm kind of tired out as well. Good night."

So off I went to bed and fell asleep surprisingly quickly, and ended up in a land of nightmares.
