"I don't know if this is a good idea." I said as I stood in front of the mirror taking in my appearance, and I was a work of art as my mother said.

"Why not? Is the slit no high enough? That's okay I can fix it right now."

"No!" I said stopping her from grabbing the scissors for she really would have cut it higher if I had let her.

"Then what is the problem?" she asked, and I sighed looking down sadly.

"You're thinking about him again aren't you?"

"Yeah." I said softly as I lowered my head and hugged my body.

"Mija." said Marissa as she came and stood beside me raising my head for me to look at myself in the mirror, "who do you see?"

"I see me."

"Exactly, and who are you?"

"A whimp." I said, and she smacked me on the shoulder, "ow."

"Who are you?"

"I am Marianna Catalina Rodriquez." I responded.

"And what are you?"

"I am a fighter." I replied feeling my worry ease with each affirmative question.
