Shane could see his plant body evolve from 3rd person. The whole experience felt rather strange after all he was a 50 cm tall grass that could think, it wasn't exactly normal. Looking at the Blue grey grass, he saw the grey become deeper and more prevalent across the whole body, the stem also become slightly thicker an longer reaching 1m in height.
As the breakthrough reached a critical junction in his mind space he could see a soft white circle began to form however it was translucent and held no power. The white circle seemed to form over a small soft glowing white orb. Its shape was more like a jewel.
Upon closer inspection Shane knew this was his soul, finally they met again. Focusing back on the circle driven by instinct Shane new he had to add a skill or technique to the ring to truly become a 10-year-old beast. Of course, he decided to choose his life saving skill cloaking. Concentrating on the steps taken to form the ability Shane sent it towards the whit circle. Upon receiving the skill, the white circle became a glowing white halo no longer looking dull and translucent.
As the final stage were reached his mind space became dimmer and dimmer the soul core as he now called it disappeared with no trace. Knowing the process would be complete Shane still had extra spirit energy remaining within his body and he diverted it towards his roots. One of the main issues he faced was being unable to move, maybe by strengthening his roots he could once more gain mobility, after all you build a house from the foundation up.
Using the spirit energy and nutrients he had previously prepared he began to grow and thicken his roots making them stronger. The roots spread like spider webs twisting and turning under the earth as they were filled with power. His mind space once more became completely dark and the evolution and growth stopped.
Emerging form his mid space Shane released a might roar to defy the heavens, he released his presence casting a domineering aura for the Heavens and land to shake in his glory. Then he came back to reality and realized he was 1 m tall grass; a man or plant could dream after all.
It wasn't his fault he was reincarnated as grass, maybe a powerful beast or ancient bloodline like a dragon but he became grass. It was quite humorous to be honest.
Sighing he observed his new body whilst going over the process to see if he could learn anything for future evolutions. He felt the process rather lacklustre bedsides growing a few cm and strengthening his roots there was no major difference. Although feeling slightly stronger, that was all, hopefully the evolution in the future could be more dramatic.
Shane tried using the white ring present in his mind space. The place he called his mind space was actually where he had come at the start. It was within himself and most likely he could get there because he was plant. In the novel only high level cultivators or those gifted could enter their inner world and being a plant with no brain seemed to help him have access to his mind space.
First, he explored the white soul ring. Being within himself and part of him he felt no restriction in entering and analysing the ring. He found it acted like a circuit similar to a computer. Unlike before where he actively though about the process to cloak now he simply needs to supply spirit energy and bam, he would become invisible. It was quite fascinating as it would mean every new evolution such as 100, 1000 etc would add an extra circuit into the ring. He did wonder why soul masters were only able to gain one skill but he could leave that though for the future.
Drawing in spirit energy he found his body able to hold far more and he could now bend the spirit energy for other techniques whilst the cloaking was active. He no longer needed to focus on activating the ability he just needed to give the ring a bit of spirit energy.
Shane though about the plans for the future. With his 10x cultivation speed which was now 12x as he made a set path to absorb sprit energy working from within the roots and finishing at the tip of the grass blade his speed to grow would be faster than other beasts. Thinking over this Shane knew it would take him close to 10 years to become a 100-year-old beast. Unlike when he was human Shane felt less effected by the passing of time and for some reason didn't really mind being alone, the feeling of being surrounded by nature helped soothe him, but it did not stop Shane from feeling bored and slightly lonely.
He didn't want to wait 10 years to evolve, so he thought about ways to speed up the process. If he remembered correctly in the 2nd novel there was a character who had evil blue silver grass and could absorb the cultivation from others. Of course the method of draining life from living organism would be harsh and evil but he was already imitating it on other plants.
The plants simply didn't give a big enough return anymore. If he tried to absorb more he would need to use more spirit energy and thus the returns were not worth the effort. Shane would never dare trying to steal life from plants with higher cultivation as they could easily kill him. But what if he used dead beast corpses. Maybe he could gain more from them and increase his growth speed.
With this thought Shanes mind began to spun and ideas emerged on how to kill soul beasts. He was incapable to fight them let alone kill them. The strength of the 3 eyed Lion and Bull was still deeply etched in his mind making him shudder in thought of fighting them.
But, what if he used human methods though?
From that thought various different traps and weapon seemed to flash through Shane's mind. Many felt hazy and foggy a clear example of his lost memories acting up. He felt he did some research in traps at high school as he studied history but all that knowledge was gone. In the end Shane settled for pit traps and put his plan to action. He would first need to make his roots stronger in order to remove earth of sufficient depth and find wood to use as spears.
After this a long audacious task of strengthening roots and clearing dirt occupied Shanes mind and he became lost in the action.
