Under the soft embers of the morning sun a gigantic forest spread end from end. The morning hues accompanied by a delicate rich forest flavour wafted through the trees and over the undergrowth as chirping and singing resounded throughout the forest.
However, during this tranquil moment a fierce confrontation took place between two ginormous soul beats. On one side stood a majestic Lion, Its golden mane dancing in the wind. In stark contrast to its prideful stature its eyes held no kindness and compassion. Just the gaze of a hungry predator looking for prey. Its three eyes fiercely locked on to its foe darting around inspecting for weakness in its enemy's body.
Compared to the magnificent Three Eyed Golden Lion, a dull black creature stood sturdy and unmoving on the opposite side. Its body covered with thick chitinous plates both extremely heavy and durable. Under this impressive Armor a small head protruded which held three sharp horns that stretch one metre of its head. This soul beast was an insect soul beast also known as the Armoured war Ant.
Don't let the insect part fool you as it was anything but small. It stood 3 metres of the ground. Its large body and tanky frame represented perfect defence whilst its sturdy legs represented explosive power. A true charging catastrophe.
The Lion on the other hand stood unwavering as if declaring it territorial rule even though it was slightly smaller in height. The lion opened its maw revealing vicious flesh tearing teeth before roaring into the sky. The sheer volume and power shook the land and the noisy forest seemed to gain a pin drop silence.
The Lion seized its chance and bolted towards the Ant fully expecting its victory.
Whilst this glorious battle between 2 oppositely specialised soul beasts took place, Shane stood 300 metres away under the dense forest canopy keenly observing the battle. His new soul concealment was far more powerful and he had full confidence that he could stand next to the soul beats and still not be discovered.
Shane observed the two soul beasts battle it out. The 3 eyed Golden Lion seemed to be the same one from all those years ago. The memory had faded through time but Shane would never forget that roar. It still sent fear within his very soul.
The Lion seemed to have evolved and was now a 1000-year-old soul beast. Its opponent the Armoured War Ant was similarly impervious, but far exceeded the lion's cultivation at 6000 Year of cultivation.
Shane was able to sense their rough cultivation because as he evolved, his own spirit energy become stronger and he was able to observe cultivation ages to a rough estimate.
Shane's purpose in viewing the fight was actually to lend a hand. After Shane had finished experimenting with his new abilities on specimen, ehm willing volunteers he made a plan for the future.
First Shane new he had to find the Ice and Fire spring. A heavenly treasured which held both ultimate fire and ultimate ice and many other rare herbs and immortal plants. Shane main purpose in going there was to quickly evolve and the novel had stated that the spring massively increased plants cultivation speed.
However, there were a few major problems. First of all, Shane had no clue where he was and which direction to go to. The spring was covered by a barrier stopping Shane from being able to sense it. Due to this Shane decided to go deeper into the forest. Through expanding his senses he was able to have an idea on how to exit the forest but he purposely chose to go deeper into danger.
He did this because he had relative confidence in surviving thanks to his Soul concealment. The downside to the ability was that if used it Infront of a soul Beasts they would see him disappear and of course try exploring the phenomena. The best way was to first hide and then activate the ability making soul beasts think he escaped.
His reason for going deeper into the forest was actually to find a soul beast to minuplat, ehm make friendship with. The journey towards the ice fire well will be full of perils and he would need to find human settlements to get a rough direction for sunset forest. To do this and not become a soul ring he would need someone to do the heavy lifting.
This was also the area Shane was having the most difficulties with. Shane was unable to figure out how to solve this problem. He had already saved soul beasts that were on the losing end of fights. He added his own support turning the battle favourable for them in hopes of the soul beasts revering him as they're savour. Shane only did this with 1000-year-old soul beasts as the 100-year-old ones did not have sufficient intelligence.
The problem was Shanes new form was by far a greater delicacy then spirit grass. If the spirit grass was seen as a delicious meal, then his current form was food fit for emperors. Being a Soul Tree if he was devoured, he would instantly cause the soul beast eating him to evolve. At least that's what Shane speculated.
His soul would enrich theirs causing them to evolve into a high species, but this would only happen to similar cultivation class soul beasts as higher ones would get less effect due to the cultivation difference.
It was no joke that Shane soul was far more evolved than any soul beast in the same class or even above. This made Shane a walking heavenly treasure in the eyes of Soul beasts and for some satanic reason they were able to sense it.
After Shane saved soul beast who were losing they're fights they very quickly showed their interest in him. They had a gleam in their eyes, the one someone had when they looked at delicious food.
After recovering they very quickly made their move to devour him. Shan learnt from the first-time a tiger soul beast tried eating him. Thankfully he pre moved his roots between himself and soul beasts so if they did attack, Shane could run and then activate concealment when out of view.
Shanes worst experience was when he rescued a sub species of dragons. The mighty creatures should be grateful right, were they not grand glorious and all knowing. No, the cheap bast*ard turned around and scorched the area Shane was in to make sheesh kebab out of him. It didn't even try and recover.
After these experiences Shane learned that teaming up with a soul beast would be a difficult task. Dragons were the worst as they instantly tried devouring him, however he received the best response from insect soul beasts.
After saving a few insect soul beasts they simply nodded in his direction indicating the dead soul beast corpse was his and left. Shane tried to communicate but found the insect soul beast were too dumb to understand.
The furthest he got to have an insect understand what he meant was quickly overturned as the insect turned around and started dancing, dancing to who knows what but Shane learned that they were simply to idiotic to think of him as food.
Who would have known right?
At least it explained why a certain million-year-old soul beast in the novel was very pathetic. It was understandable he only had spirit energy but his showing was ridiculously weak, as well as the not so intelligent scorpion.
"Haaaa, idiots. I'm surrounded by idiots"
Shane looked back at the ongoing battle. The higher cultivation Ant was losing ground. Although it had caused deep injuries to the Lion, its own stamina reserves seemed to had plummeted and became a fish on the chopping block. It holed into its shell to try and stay alive.
Shane searched for a weakness to exploit from the Lion to save the Ant. Almost in response to Shanes thought the Lion leaped of the ground using an aerial landing attack and Shane fully exploited the moment, seeding his roots under the soft earth ready to spring a death trap.
