On Purpose

Elija was in a cabin behind the farm. his childhood home. it didn't feel welcoming. playing hide and seek was the memories that came out of that. reminding him that he was still a kid. he wasn't old enough to understand things on the other hand. he understood that uncle peter had dept sometimes. only thing about it was that he wasn't old enough to do anything about it. and that was the part of childhood where he wished he wasn't young.

the irony is that he hopes to be young at the moment.

he was staying with Fae while she recovered from her fathers death. so long he had been worried that the phone would call at a wrong moment and something bad would happen. But, it's been three days and the phone hasn't called Elija for a while. That doesn't mean it's not a threat though. During his stay at the farm Fae tried touching the phone and tried opening it before but of course Elija would take action to stop her.

She has the curiosity of a cat but the cat always ends up dead in the end. She had to stay away from this business. No, the phone had to go away. Currently about 5:34 am Elija was panicking over what he should do. Fae was no doubt asleep Elija also checked so he's in the clear.

He walked around looking for something heavy so he could get rid of the phone for good but to no avail. Until he looked by the cabin door and found a hammer. He could've sworn it wasn't there when he first came in as he locked the door but Elija was too concentrated on his mission to realize.

He puts the phone on the ground and positions himself where he can be able to hit the phone powerfully. He pulls the hammer above his head with both his hands , his shadow looked like it was ready to kill a body, and screams loudly as he brings it down to meet the phone with a loud bang.

That's it? he got rid of the phone. Or so he thought. The phone was staring back at him without a scratch on it. Suddenly Elija hears a sound coming from beside him not too far away.

"that's kinda freaky don't ya think?" a female voice said. As Elija looked at where the voice was coming from he saw Fae standing there crossing her arms. A leg on the wall and the other was standing on the ground supporting her figure.

Elija just stayed silent. Wasn't she asleep?

" I mean it's kinda freaky that you're trying to get rid of the phone in that way in the first place." she then comes closer to Elija to get a better look at the phone. "see I already knew something was wrong with that phone but I didn't wanna believe I was seeing it again."

"again, what do you mean? Do you know what this phone does." he said. He feels like a burden has been taken of his shoulder. Maybe she knows that her father died because of him though. Elija tensed in his place at that thought. there is always a downfall to each positive thought.

"well it was the whole reason to why I lost touch with you in the first place." she sat on the floor in a crouching position. "once my mum found out about it she wanted to get rid of it but couldn't. So when one of our family members died she decided to travel far so she could avoid this fate." Elija stood there questioning how she ended up telling him this information so casually.

She holds the phone in her hand. "she wanted dad to come along but dad wanted to stay and help our cousin who had the phone. They got into an argument. And since mum thought he didn't care about us she got a divorce and dragged me along with her." her grip on the phone gets tighter as she talks.

She stands up and hands Elija the phone back." the phone wouldn't tell my cousin that he was gonna kill anyone and who the phone was gonna kill or why the phone was gonna kill in the first place. But as soon as my father died I assume you had the phone after from my cousin right?" she concluded.

Elija then remembers Dalphin the last owner of the phone." was she called Dalphin?"

" no, he is called Kyle. "

" then no, I had the phone from someone else. "

" well you seem inexperienced so I'm gonna help you. but promise me something. " she says as she heads back to the farm house. she always does this. makes him do promises with her.

"what is it?"

"promise me you'd never hand the phone to anyone else. Otherwise we will go through the same circle no matter what and people we love the most will die." she knew for a fact that you couldn't escape from the phone. to prove that was the fact that it was right in front of her now even after years and years of running away from it.

"but...."

"just trust me when I say this. I'm talking from experience. Even though my cousin didn't have the phone my father died somehow. But we're gonna find answers. I know your not gonna give up. OK?" she says as she stands behind the door hiding her figure.

he stood there silent. she wanted to know the reason for her fathers death. me. its me. he wanted to say but he couldn't bring himself to it now. "fine, I promise."

"we start tomorrow. We'll discuss everything from important to useless okay?"

"okay." as soon as he says that she closes the door leaving Elija there confused. He rubs his face in frustration and stands there processing the situation for a while until he finally decided to go to sleep.

The next day Elija wakes up with water being splashed on his face. He jolts up in shock as he hears the alarm. "what was that for."

"I'm not gonna mess around Elija I know you don't wake up that easily so come on get ready and let's get out of here." Fae says as she runs away from the room hearing Elija screaming at the alarm at how he was gonna kill it one day.

Elija gets ready but doesn't find Fae anywhere in the house. he goes outside to see her on her phone waiting for him. She looks up and throws keys at him. "your driving today I don't feel like it." she heads to the garage and waits for it to open.

Elija doesn't say anything he just follows her tall form looking for the car he was gonna have to drive. He hates it when people boss him around but he got her into this mess so he's not gonna complain.

As he looks at the garage he doesn't find a car. He looks at her for explanation . "wow, you really forgot. See that motorbike over there. That's my ride. Didn't I tell you I've always wanted one when I was little."

"well not everyone knows how to ride a motorbike so don't get so cocky about it." he says throwing car keys at the floor.

She glares daggers at him and turns around. "pick up your attitude and let's go. We're taking the bus then." she said referring to the keys.

Elija at first kicks the keys her way as she walks but when she doesn't do anything about it he looks around to see if no one's watching and then picks it up and marches to throw it at her chest.

She chuckles as they make their way to the bus stop in silence. As soon as the buss comes to view and opens in front of them Elija hurriedly gets in the bus as Fae takes her time.

They sit next to each other as Fae start a conversation. "so, what have you been doing while I was gone?" she asks looking at the view from the window on Elija's side.

"you know, being stuck at the office and being attacked by a phone, the usual." he says as he avoids looking at her.

"oh, I've never seen what that phone can do but I've heard of it." she said as she looked at his trembling hands that was in his jacket pocket. he was scared it might ring at a time like this, but he was trying to hide it.

"no, you have actually. When my back hurt it was from the phone call." he explained thinking she would have figured it out by know.

"so that wasn't your shoulder problem. I had no idea the phone could do such a terrible thing Elija. I'm sorry I didn't help you back there........... Actually, no I'm not you where rude to me."

Elija chuckles at the change of heart. "well, it can do much worse from my experience." after that they stay silent as they reach their destination.

They walk in front of the door to where her supposed cousin Kyle lived according to what she told him when they got off the bus. They knock and waited for him to open the door. Someone finally opens the door for a tall man with blond messy hair and reading glasses and a flannel shirt stands squinting his eyes to see clearly who is standing there.

"good morning. Can I help you?" the guys asks.

"Kyle it's me Fae!" she says as she waves at him sweetly.

"Fae! It's been a while let me change and I'll come greet you guys. Come in, come in." as they look at the house they see pizza boxes and unclean laundry everywhere.

"your house is dirty I think ill stay outside." Elija says randomly.

"agreed, we'll meet you at the nearby park." Fae says as she pulls Elija out of the messy hallway.

At the park they wait for the lovely cousin to arrive but he takes his time to appear. "I haven't seen your cousin at the funeral Fae." Elija comments.

"that's because he wasn't there." she kicks a petal out of the way.

"hey guys I'm here." Kyle says as he embraces his cousin in a hug and shakes Elija's hands awkwardly.

Elija leans in to whisper in Fae's ears. "he smells like cigarettes."

"so guys, what did you wanna see me for?" Kyle says getting straight to the point taking a cigarette out of his pocket as if he was reading Elija's mind.

"nothing much just want to uncover what you know about this phone." Elija says casually taking out the phone from his pocket.

Kyle's mood changed 360 degrees. He went from being chill to looking like he's about to go insane. He drops the cigarettes and stands behind a can of trash.

" get that thing away from me I'm not gonna speak while it's here." he says. he was shacking all around. his ragged shoes looked like they were about to come off from when he started to step back out of fear. his nose was running and his hands were sweaty.

"but Kyle." Fae approaches him.

"no, get out." he says.

"this is a park you idiot." Elija says swaying the phone around to show him what he means.

"oh yeah? Your not getting out? I am then." Kyle says as he starts running away from them yelling in a way that his voice would not function after.

Elija immediately sprints after him as Fae sighs. "this is not how you start a conversation with someone Kyle." she walks casually leaving the mission to Elija.

Elija on the other hand was running in a way he's never ran before. He doesn't like exercising so when he runs like that it fells like he's dying slowly.

Kyle looks behind him to see Elija and gasps. "just give it up please. I don't want to have another meeting with this phone. I already lost it. Don't bring me into this."

"I just wanna know what happened to you when you had it." Elija says trying to reach him. To be honest he didn't know if he could hear him or not but he had to try.

Elija looks ahead and sees red light ahead and smirks at Kyle who's ahead of him ,staring at him. Kyle gets confused at first and looks ahead too only to look back at Elija and smirk in return. Elija gets confused but his confusion soon disappears as soon as he sees a car hit Kyle and Kyle's dead bleeding body on the floor.

he stays silent as people gather up the the scene and Fae catches up to Elija after a while. "Elija what happened?" she asks catching her breath. as soon as she supports herself to stand up by grabbing his shoulder, she gasps at the scene in front of her.

Elija stays staring at the scene in horror until he speaks. "what could've happened to him when he had the phone, that he threw himself on purpose in front of that car?" he had a feeling he didn't wanna know the answer.
