Chapter 11 - Shocking the Crowd 1

Xin Jin didn't know wether to laugh or cry when he saw Han Yi's response to his question. Instead of embarrassing her, he chose to hold in his laughter and simply stood up and went to the door to speak to the attendant outside.

After speaking a few words to the person outside, they politely bowed and said "Certainly, Young Master Xin." After which they left to go speak to someone about the sword

Xin Jin then shut the door before going back to the couch.

...

Elsewhere in the auction hall, directly across from Xin Jin and the others private booth was the private box of non other than Young Master Huo.

Huo Shaoyang, The son of Holy Dragon Fire Sects Master, Huo Yang, was very displeased.

Not only did he have to come to this backwater city to attend an auction as ordered by his father, He even ran into some handsome bastard with a beauty on each arm. On top of that, even Gu Ling guided that young man herself.

As a practitioner of Fire Element Qi at Level 6 Spirit Master, Huo Shaoyangs personality was obviously very volatile, often landing him in hot water.

However, with the Holy Dragon Fire Sect being one of the top 3 on the continent, there wasn't anything a single organization could do to him. But if that Xin Jin had more than one group supporting him, it might be a tough bone to chew.

While he was mulling over his thoughts, what little of them he had, he noticed the white sword on stage that seemed to be formed from ice.

Even though he was a Fire user, He still sat up. As it happened, he recognized the sword as the Level 3 Spirit Weapon 'Everwinter Sword', one of the top 10 frost/snow based swords at tier 3.

And it just so happened that he was here with a few fellows from the Northwind Ice Sect, Including their head female deciple who he has had his eye on for years. He thought that maybe if he got the sword for her, she might have a good impression of him.

Currently, the bid was at 130,000 gold or 130 Spirit Stones since a good portion of the people present were cultivators.

Huo Shaoyang was just about to call out a bid when the hostess suddenly spoke "Apologies, but it seems that this sword has caught the eye of our guest of honor. Please understand."

After saying this, the sword was handed to the attendant who briskly left.

Huo Shaoyang was furious, nearly crushing the cup in his hand.

He signaled for his best guard to come over.

"Find out who it was, and which booth they are in. Offer them any price for the Everwinter Sword." He barked

His guard simply acknowledged the order before leaving.

.....

A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door.

"Enter." Said Xin Jin moderately, after which the attendant came in.

The attendant walked over and smoothly unwrapped the silk that covered the hilt of the sword.

"Please, Sir." He said as he indicated for Xin Jin to draw it out.

-shing-

The sound of the blade sliding out of its scabbard nearly sent a chill down Xin Jin's spine as it was cool and sharp.

"Thank you." He said with a smile as he bade the aide goodbye.

Once the door was closed, Xin Jin gave it a once over. He looked at the sharpness of the blade and nodded his approval.

"I will let you hold on to it for now, but I don't want you playing with it. I will teach you how to properly use it once we are home." He told the young girl with a stern expression.

"I understand. Han Yi will be good." Han Yi nodded in understanding.

"Good." He said with a smile

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door again.

With a sigh, Xin Jin got up again before seeing who it was.

When he opened the door, Xin Jin was a little confused. Standing in front of him was a bulky looking cultivator whom he recognized as a guard of that annoying guy from earlier.

"What?" He asked impatiently

The awkward smile on the man's face instantly vanished with Xin Jin's obvious attitude towards him.

He spoke with a harsh and overbearing tone "Hand over the Everwinter Sword, if you know what's good-"

Before he even finished speaking, the door slammed in his face.

Stunned momentarily, he once again pounded on the door, this time like he intended to break it down.

However, as his fist was about to connect again, the door swung open, catching him off guard. Before he could react and catch his balance, A lightning fast fist connected with his face, sending him flying.

"Please remove this barking animal for me. It's awfully loud." Xin Jin said to the attendant

"Certainly." they replied before dragging the unconscious bodyguard away.

After returning to his seat, Xin Jin and the girls continued to watch the items being auctioned with increasing interest.

Eventually, one of the highlights of the night finally appeared on stage.

And just like the hostess said, there were audible gasps when the cover was removed from the item.

What was revealed was a dress made of sine silver silk and embroidered with clouds, Spirit Cranes, and flowers.

However, This wasn't just any normal attire but an almost never seen defensive treasure in the form of clothing. Defensive Treasures were usual made in the form of armor, rings, crowns, bracelets, etc. The reason clothing is almost never used is because when the Spirit Energy the item contains runs out, it is always destroyed.

So in the case of a womens dress being a defensive treasure, it could be understood how it might be awkward for a lady to lose its effects mid battle.

However, It wasn't the beauty of the dress that shocked people, but it's aura.

"This is a Defensive Treasure made from the silk of an Nine Demon Eye Spider that was passed to us by a certain families ancestor after they retrieved it in a Inheritance Tomb." The hostess introduced first

"I'm sure by now, most, if not all of you have sensed the power of this item.

What you are all suspicious of is in fact, true. This is indeed a Level 5 Spirit Artifact that somehow ended up here from the next realm." She concluded with a wide smile from watching the people's reaction.
