The next morning everyone wakes up bright and early to discuss our next move. Everyone sirs in silence for moment not really knowing what to say. No one thought that our values and way of life had decayed so throughly within the kingdom. My mother and father sit in the center next to the chief as he takes a deep breath to begin the meeting.
"I think we all can agree that the capital is nolonger safe for young Yue, our guiding star." Determination shines in everyone's eyes as they all nod.
"Chief, our brothers and sister outside the village might have forsaken the Moon but we will not. Besides Yue is an infant, what kind of monster forces a baby to marry someone a thousand years their senior." More nods and agreements come from the other villagers. Some even make their disgust for the thought very clear.
"That false King might as well be a human in Elven clothing. I refuse to acknowledge him!" The villager's face is twisted in disgust and anger.
"I feel the same. Chief, I know this might be unfair but I think we should name Yue as our future leader. She is the future and saving grace our true people have been waiting for." The villagers are shock but his proposition, but their shock so turn to one of deep thought.
"I agree. Chief, please don't take this wrongly but want he said is right. Yue, is the future." A woman speaks up from the back and walks forward to bow infront of the chief and then kneels to the ground infant of me.
Slowly the other villagers stand and follow the woman to bow to the chief and kneel to the ground for me. I look the chief hoping he doesn't feel hurt but their actions but instead I see great pride and joy as he stands up then walks in front of me, "Of course I agreed! Yue was always going to lead us from the beginning." He then follows the rest of the villagers to kneel infront of me.
"Everyone please get up!" My mother frantically tries to get everyone to stop kneeling. "Yue has only just been born she can't lead anyone right now."
The chief and everyone else raises their head as the chief looks my mother in the eye. "We know. We don't plan for her to take over right now. When she comes of age on her 160th birthday I will step down as chief and we will name her our queen and priestess. I vow with my life and soul. If I were the break my vow may the Moon turn its grace from me and my soul be lost to wander the void for eternity." At the end of his vow a great light a appears at the center of his forehead. After the light fades a Cresent moon remains in its place.
Joys spread from the villagers as they also make their vows. "We vow to honor and protect our future queen and priestess. We will never betray her. If we break this vow may the Moon turn its grace from us and may our souls be lost to wander the void for eternity." The same shines from the rest of the villagers as a Cresent Moon also appears on them in the same place as the chief.
The chief's smile is bright and full of prise. "The Goddess has accepted our vow. There is no going back. Please accept it on behalf of her highness." The chiefs change in addressing me makes me realize how important this vow is the everyone here as I look to my mother to see what she will do.
Her eyes are wide and she keeps opening and closes her month, unsure of what to say or do. She looks at me as I look at her. I see the panic and hesitation in her eyes. I can tell she doesn't know what to do or if accepting such a big responsibility is what's best for me. I can't help but feel my heart warm. I look at her with loving eyes as I give her my very first real smile in this world. "I trust you Mom. I will follow whatever you decide." I think in mind as I continue to smile at her.
Her eyes soften and start to glisten with tears as she smiles back to me. "On half of my daughter the moons chosen star and your future queen. I accept your vow." As my mother accepts their vow a star appears on the lower tip of the Cresent moon of all the villagers signifying that both the Moon and its star have accepted their vow.
The kneel to the ground one last time as they call out, "Thank you for accepting our vow your highness."
"I love this village." Shock runs through me as I realize how true this is. I have everything I ever hope for. Loving parents and entire people that are kind and care for me. "I won't let you down. I will protect my new home, my new family."
"Host as received the Vow of Moon and star from 68 people. Priestess system will unlocked upon first level up."
"Host has been named future queen of a small group of moonelves. Kingdom system will unlocked upon first level up."
"Host has completed several hidden quests. Large amounts of exp, skills, and status points have been rewarded. Calculating."
"Wow, really!?" I was getting excited about the future when slow claps sounded from the forest next to us.
"Wonderfull, that was a beautiful performance. Unfortunately, that future you all cling to is about to reach its end."
Everyone's head snaps to the source of the voice as a human man walks out of the Forrest with many more right behind him laughing at us. They are all heavly armed and obviously we'll trained. I look at our people, while we do have more people then them only around 10 are actually warriors and we only have leather armor and iron spears while them have metal armor and steal weapons.
"We won't will, will we?" I think to myself. I look at everyone that I've come to love so dearly, hoping they'll run but they stare at the enemy with resolution as they step infront of my mother and me with my father stand just in front of us shielding us.
The chief stands tall at the very front "We will die for her highness without regrets. Even if we lose we can buy enough time for her highness to get anyway. Stand fast, don't falter, remember the vow you have taken and show no mercy to the enemy that threatens the guiding starlight gifted to us by the Moon." The marks on their heads glow softly at their resolution gifting them greater strength and speed, but the villagers didn't care about that, they have a duty to fulfill as their eyes never left the humans infront of them.
"A fine speech and that buff is decent, but it won't be enough and we both know it. Hand the child over and walk away." The human stretches out his hand as he dismisses the resolve of the Elves.
"Maybe so, but unlike humans our words mean something. Even if we die, we will die gladly if it means her highness has a chance at escape." The chief and the human stare into each other's eyes for moment until the human lets out a sigh ad shakes his head.
"How foolish." He raises is hand and signals the those behind him. "Begin, don't spare any of the men. Take the women alive." A great roar of comes from the enemy as they begin their attack.
