#1.1 Disruption

Twenty years ago, people started getting powers. People with strong powers started revolting, made clans and groups. Some nations had no choice but to concede some of their areas. Amongst all this chaos, the BARP showed up and released information on the powers and how they worked.

Some people were beyond anybody's control. They could take on armies by themselves and come out unscathed. Most of them were given their areas and were called the behemoths. There are more beings as powerful as them hidden among us.

My name is rain and I was born a year after the anomaly. Although the world wasn't stable back then, I was taken in by an orphanage and was raised in a normal environment. I finished schooling and college. I did everything right and ended up in a newly formed unstable nation serving the border service? How?

Once I was done with my education, I chose to travel across nations and explore the world. It was all good until I went to Arania. A coup d'etat took place during my stay there and everybody was forcibly asked to commit to being their citizen. People who didn't were put into camps. So here I am stuck in the new nation Jahania named after the leader Jahan, so creative. After that, they asked all the youth to serve in the border service regardless of experience or field of work. We knew what would happen if we rejected it. I never really cared for not having awakened my abilities until now. Because we were split up into two batches based on our awakening.

Awakeneds were people who could use their ability and unawakeneds were people who couldn't. The awakeneds were put in the A-force while all the unawakeneds were put in the B-force The BARP declared that every individual had powers and the time of awakening varied for individuals.

Will the behemoths act? Those lazy bastards wouldn't do shit unless it's super important or concerning them. Will this nation get recognized or crushed? I mean I don't know, I have never been in a coup d'etat.

As a member of the B-force, I never had a normal day. Being forced to wake up without notice and being monitored so we don't skip our tasks. I had to detain people running away from the nation and coming into the nation. Although the only thing that came out of it was me getting fitter which doesn't compare to the torture I was being put through.

While the B-force was going through hardships. The A-force were allotted to guard the city where nothing ever happened. They even dared to look down on us. We always suffered casualties as we were the first line of defence.

I thought today was going to be a regular day detaining people and with watch duty. Only if I knew an intrusion was about to occur, I would not have shown up. 600 people invaded with awakeneds. We had to hold them off until the A-force showed up.

A-force showed up very late. Our border force went down by half by the time they arrived. If they showed up earlier we would not have had to suffer all those casualties. I wimped out and hid but that was self-protection, I never signed up for this.

Only a few thoughts ran through my head:

"Why do I have to put up with this mess of a nation? Maybe things would have been different if I didn't move into this nation. I am fighting for my life, Will I ever see Mira and X again"

The A-force arrived and pushed back the attack. They even blamed us for not handling it properly. I was pissed when they showed off their powers and told us to handle the attack group with awakeneds. I was pissed at the management when they put all the Unawakened in the B-force. I don't know what the higher-ups were thinking when they put all the unawakened into the border force, that would just be killing potential. It'd be far better if he were to put awakeneds in the border force who were better equipped to handle intruders.

I just wanted peace, I didn't want to put my life on the line every second. After a chaotic 3 months of putting up with all the prejudice and increased worktimes (because our border force went down by half), My power finally awoke.
