Auxilium Potentia

I took a maglev train from Atlanta to Olympia. At the speed we were going it only took a few hours. I ate lunch on the train though.

I was greeted by my Chaperone. A nice lady called Ina. I hopped in her silver sedan and she started driving out of the city. After a while we diverged from the main road and traffic to an empty road. We passed through a military checkpoint soon after. Ina showed her ID and they let us through.

After another hour of driving, we had arrived to the academy. Looking around after going through the entrance of Auxilium Potentia, the campus was more low-tech than I imagined. I've seen pictures of Hero academies before, they've all been high-tech futuristic looking campuses. Hence I asked my chaperone about it.

"Ms. Ina, I mean no offense, but aren't hero academies high-tech places?", I asked.

She chuckles a bit at my question.

"Yes they are Faas. This academy was built to train supernatural teens to be heroes. Vampire, shifters, demi humans, and others of that criteria. This is why the campus looks like a big gothic castle town. The headmaster is actually a Vampira, or a female vampire. Nowadays we have regular powered and magical people, but the majority of students are still supernaturals."

"I see, hopefully they won't take a bite out of me then. I would like to think I'm quite delicious.", I joke. It gets me a lighthearted laugh.

Ina stops and turns to me, "Since you're a specially admitted student, a student council member will take over for me here and guide to your room. After that they should give you a tour."

I thank her, "Okay Ms. Ina, thank you for taking me this far."

She says her goodbye and I wait with my backpack for my guide.

An owl flies over before turning into a girl in front of me. I suppose she is an owl shifter then.

She puffs up and says energetically, "Hello! You must be Faas. I am Atmora, an owl shifter and your guide today. Let's get going."

Atmora is an uppity brown haired girl with a bounce in her step with a resting smile on her face. She then turns to start walking and I start following. She then asks, "You look a little young, how old are you Faas. Also, why the name? No offense but you don't look like a Faas."

I smile and answer, "I'm 12 right now, but I'll be 13 this September. I have Native American and Spaniard heritage, my parents loved fantasy games, books and entertainment. So they named me Faas as some weird name combination that ended up okay. So they thought Faas was fantasy-like and named me that."

She looks back a little, "Haha, they sound like fun people."

I hold onto my smile and steady my voice, "Indeed..."

We arrive at my room. It has a small kitchen, a restroom and a single bed. It doesn't look like I'll be having a roommate. Which is good. I set down my backpack that carries my modest belongings.

I go back outside for the tour. Atmora showed me where the various class building were, the cafeteria, recreational buildings/areas, and the administration building. Then she explained how all the cliques work.

"Just like any hero academy we have various students groups. We got the vampire, shifters, elves, fairies, powered, magi, sentients, demonia, angelica, and finally the Regs. You would fall into the regs group since all you got is that powerful brain of yours. All the regs are also in the hero support classes like you."

I recognized all those terms except the Sentients so I ask her what they are.

"What are sentients?"

She responds clearly, "They are supernatural beings that don't have a base humanoid form or it is too inhuman to be easily accepted, but have human intelligence and above. Beings such dragons, griffons, ghouls, goblins, and beings like that."

I was astonished a little, "I have never heard of them before. Why is that?"

She explains, "Those supernaturals like to keep a low profile and usually just come out has powered to avoid the spotlight. It also protects them from eventual discrimination because of their appearance and species. Also, most of them, especially vampire don't become heroes despite this being a hero academy. They would usually go back to their hidden communities, join the military, or go into other sectors. The vampires especially love politics. Manipulation is in their nature. Don't get me wrong though, there are good vampires in the school like the headmaster and student president. It's just that most are troublemakers and like mischief."

The tour came to an end shortly after and I thanked Atmora for her time. Now I was in my dorm room with 6 days until the classes start. When night came, Sandman came out. My dorm was a smaller dorm building for the Regs. So I popped into their dreams first.

I came upon a boy who was dreaming of being a technomancer. He was in a city manipulating futuristic tech like a wizard fighting some horde type demons. Laser cannons, plasma launchers, energy shields, he had it all. He even had a fancy nanite armor.

Needless to say I stored the dream in my book. Then I thought about something. I had never tried to give myself an ability while inside a dream. I gave it a go.

"Hell ya!", I exclaim in elation.

I realized something amazing. While in the technomancy dream, the cost of the ability was just the energy I got from the dream.

I deduce, "So if I learn the abilities while in their native dream, the cost is much less."

I facepalmed at how I've been using my book backwards the entire time. I could've just brought the dreams out from my book during a dive and save so much Ima.

I think excitedly, "Well, live and learn is life. Time to seriously boost myself now. Let's look at some other dreams."

I went to a dream where a Reg girl had telepathy, and a shifter guy could turn into a dragon. He could only turn into a large toad though in real life.

Telepathy was easy, but draconic abilities were too much for to completely fabricate with Ima. All I could were the scales. I guess I do have limits, I'll have to wait until I'm stronger before fabricating overpowered abilities.

I finished my dives early as I wanted to free explore the campus tomorrow. So I went back to my own dreamworld to play around before the sun brought the new day.
