Getting Sick

Nurul POV

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A sudden knocked on the door broke Nurul's reverie. She screamed 'wait' at the unwelcome guest and instantly went to her room taking her hijab and cardigan. She wore them and ran to the door as fast as she can. Not wanting to make the unwelcome guest waiting for long. She then opened the door and shock was visible on her face.

'What is he doing here?' She thought. She saw he was holding a plastic bag but shrugged it off after he started speaking.

"Assalamualaikum, Nurul" Zambri greeted her with a hesitant smile and somehow or other was on pins and needles.

'He might be tired climbing to the highest floor. Not my fault though' That was at least what she thought but does he, really?

"Waalaikummussalam, Zambri" She replied and smile back.

Um, Amanina wants me to give you this" He said and showed the plastic bag then put his hand on the back of his neck, nervous. Yet she was obviously oblivious.

"Oh, Amanina gave me this?" She meant this for herself but he answered her natheless.

"Yeah, she said she made it for you. And I don't know why suddenly she asked me to give that to you" He told with a frown on his countenance.

"Oh, thank you by the way. For sending me this... and... if you're meeting Amanina again, can you tell her I said thank you?" She nonchalantly asked.

"Most welcome. Yeah, anything for y- uh, I mean yes, I will" He stuttered. 'Bizarre. He's not like this' She thought.

"Okay, bye... and thank you again" She waved then thanked him again for the effort.

"No problem. Okay, bye-bye" He opened his mouth wants to say something but shut it for a while before bade goodbye. 'What's wrong with him today?'

'But... why Amanina made me this? Weird. I never give her anything but speak. Okay, let's see what she made for me...' She said internally while walking to the dining table after locking the door.

'Woah! Spaghetti carbonara? It smells good! Aargh! I'm hungry... gonna finish this all by myself'

Buzz! Buzz!

A message from Aifaa in 'We becoming older la can't believe it' chat group

"Let's hang out this evening guys at Prince City's playground nearby. 5 o'clock, okay?" She read.

"Okay, mummy. 5 pm it is" She typed while mouth following what she was typing.

"What for, Aifaa? You're boring... but 5 pm, will do. Sorry if I late and see yer guys this evening" She read then guffawed at Dee's silly remark. The playground was close to their apartment but Dee. It took her 15 minutes to reach their place.

5 hours flew by, Aifaa and Nurul were sitting on a long wooden pew while gossiping about what had occurred earlier with Nurul. She told Aifaa everything but her taller best friend made an assumption that he has had a crush on her. And she never saw anything wrong whenever they met. What she knows was, he became distant out of the blue. They were friends for months but then he stopped talking with her until this day. Not having any idea of what happened to him and why.

"But I can see he gawped and rubbernecked at your way whenever you walk or speak"

"That's how you made such theory, Aifaa?"

"It's real, weh! I saw it with my clear and superb optics, okay"

"Forget you not? You have a long-sighted problem, are you not mummy?

"True... but I knew what I saw. And how dare you?!! You wanna say I'm blind?" The taller said and Dee arrived not long after their banter. She took off her helmet and put it on the motorcycle's side mirror.

She walked to them then shouting "Woi!" Aifaa craned on her left and replied as well as pretending to be mad while both hands were on her waist "We got names you shorty!" Whilst Nurul just looked at her and a smile could be seen on her physiognomy.

'Hope she will forget what she said earlier' Nurul thought. But d*mn! Aifaa did share it with Dee and definitely told her nonsense theory also.

"I don't care. So, what are you guys talking about?"

"Zambri has a crush on her"

"Aifaa... I told you. You got no proof..."

"You, shut up. Believe me, I saw it with my beautiful optics, Dee"

"You sure? Got no problem with your BEAUTIFUL optics?

"Ugh! Not you too..."

"Anyway, what you wanna do after this, Nurul... and Dee?"

"Go back home and cook dinner of course"

"HAHAHAHAHA!!! I didn't mean THAT, Nurul. I mean the FUTURE. What you wanna do... working or pursue your studies?"

"Hahaha, Nurul, Nurul..."

"Ah... my bad, sorry. But of course, I wanna pursue my studies"

"I wanna work while waiting for the offer to pursue my studies. What bout you, pretty optics?"

"Same goes to me..." The taller answered while nodding her head. She then quickly added and changed the topic "Do you know about our classmate, Ain?"

"What's with her?" Nurul asked while Dee looked at her waiting for her to carry on.

"She squinted her eyes at you, Dee. Whenever she saw you, she'll be like... goody-goody or such. I can see the way she treated you and how she treated others... like us" The taller uttered with a lour front.

"Ah... I don't know what's wrong with her" Dee said with a lukewarm tone.

"Yeah, I could see it at times" Nurul agreed with Aifaa as she saw Ain did it behind Dee's back sometimes.

"I saw she intentionally bumped into you last week when we were queuing for the exam" The taller told Dee. Dee somewhat finds it internally amusing as she could discover now why Ain behave like that towards her.

"Oh, I thought she really accidentally bumped into me..." Dee curiously said.

"She doesn't like you just because you are a tomboy?" Nurul found Dee's thought and answer albeit she really did not know what Dee had thought just now as she could connect the curious questions as well as the taller's divulgence.

5 minutes later, the taller's phone vibrated as messages were sent by her new boyfriend, Qarraish. Yet her mother messaged her after.

"Guys, I have to go now. My mum commanded me to go home"

"It's not 7 yet"

"I'm sorry guys. We continue in the group chat, okay? Take care! Be safe! Bye!"

"She's the one who invited us to hang out yet now she's the one disappear first"

"Yeah, nice..."

The two of them then proceed with any topics that they could come out with.

______________________________________________________

Nurul was done with cooking dinner. And now she brings a bowl with her to the dining table and set it down in the middle while sitting. Her father began reciting meal prayer as she nearly standing rushing to the kitchen but even so forced herself to stop on her track thus raised her hands while praying together at once.

After her father finished with the prayer, she moved as she wants to wash her hands but accidentally pushed the bowl pretty hard once she spun her upper body. Not to mention, it flew and broke on the floor to boot.

She loudly coughed twice as her throat felt itchy so sudden. "Did someone mention my name, perhaps?" She mumbled. Thankfully no one heard what she said as she was mumbling to herself.

She went to the kitchen later in a trice and brought a broom and a dustpan to clean the mess. She wrapped it all with newspaper before tied it with plastic and threw it in the dustbin. She then washed her hands and started eating with her family.

Once finished eating, she cleared the table and washed everything in the sink. She then went to her room and sat on her chair while scrolling her Twitter. "Aw, Zhang you're cute" She murmured while looking at an idol's picture she followed and coughing again. But this time, it was non-stop even just a light cough.

Abrupt neuralgia caused her to break off from scrolling. She feels a wave of qualms and nausea engulfed her. Her stomach felt like burning and almost regurgitated on her phone. She promptly went to the bog and pulled up the loo's bowl. The gut threw up everything she ate earlier while shutting her eyeballs. Icky. Unbeknownst to her, it was attached with something else too. She embarked stretching out her eyelids and nearly flushed the puke but she was confounded the moment she looked inside the loo.

"Red colour... B-blood??? Bu-but..." It made her stupefied.

"I should go to the clinic tomorrow" She whispered.

She flushed then cleaned her mouth in slow motion. Her energy drained and felt sick after the vomit moment. She trod to her bed and slowly settled into it yet ashen-faced was prominent and shivering was perceptible as well. She was worried but dozed off in a matter of minutes.

On the other hand, Aifaa was helping her mother folding clothes while watching the news on the television after doing house chores together with cooking to boot. Suddenly, the television switched off by itself. 'What's wrong with the tv? Tch! You kidding me?'
