Joshua inspiring the twin brothers to be soldiers.

Maggy and Sandy arrived home well Sarah very happy to see them bearing in mind her worries of about the custody of the boys Sandy and Maggy were surprised to see how Sarah reacted.

"My daughters you are welcome I thought you will not come back soon hope everything went well" Sarah said.

"We are doing well we were handing over the duty to other nurses who were transferred to the hospital" Maggy said

"That is good news but I am sad you are going far away from home its not going to be easy for you t come and say hi to me" Sarah said.

"Don't worry Kisumu and Nakuru is not far from here we will be checking on you especially over the weekend" Sandy said.

"How about my boys show will they get time to see me?" Sarah asked.

"Every month the first week of the month we shall visit you with the boys" Sandy assured.

"You sandy you are just like my daughter I don't know why but I am so fond of you very much" Sarah said.

"Yes I know I am coming from Londiani you are just like my mother I wish you knew my family but soon you will come to know the day our boys are graduating" Sandy said.

"Maggy is just like my sister and I am fond of her too I am so sad that we are parting but unfortunately there is nothing we can do" Sandy said.

"They say life is ever a series if parting and also life is unfair" Sandy said.

"We have to get used to the law of nature we cannot go against it you are in or out that is survival for the fittest in science" Sandy said

"That is very inspiring you made me to be optimistic thank you so much" Sarah said optimistically.

"In our work we see people suffering others dying others with horrible medical condition, everyday we need hope to face the next day especially when we encounter a young kid dying" Maggy said.

"What is making me live for tomorrow is my boy Robin he is an inspiration to me he gives me reason to live for tomorrow" Sandy said.

"Me too David is everything for me he is the one who give me hope for tomorrow, at time I feel like losing hope but he talks to me as my son and I find myself having great hope" Maggy said.

At the homestead the initiates were outside, Joshua lit the fire the smoke hovering around the homestead, the initiates sat around the fire to keep themselves from the evening coldness, Joshua sat.

"My children I am happy to see you that you are now recovering your wounds are healing that is how life is" Joshua said.

"When I was as young as you I had much expectations I dreamt of being a soldier though in our time you didn't need to study for you to become a soldier but in your time you must have qualification to be a soldier" Joshua added.

The initiates listened to Joshua's story Robin and David carefully followed as the story unfolds.

"When the colonial government recruited the soldiers I was the first one to go to the recruitment place, the colonial officers came with the land rover it was the first time for the villagers to to see a vehicle" Joshua said.

The initiates laughed as the fire burned letting sparks of fire to the sky as Ezekiel lit his cigarette on the fire and moved and sat beside Joshua.

"The colonial government officers ordered all the young men to stand on a straight line if not you will get a beating you've never had before" Joshua said emotionally.

Joshua coughed and cleared his throat for him to continue to narrate the story.

After standing in a straight line the recruiting soldiers went round to check on healthy recruits, they gave instruction.

"If a recruiting soldier touches you you step forward two steps" The recruiting soldiers ordered.

"I was the first one to be touched and I moved quickly forward two steps" Joshua said.

"Then other men followed suit, after that the military truck came it was really threatened experience I had never seen such a huge military truck other recruits ran away in fear also the onlookers disappeared into the thin air" Joshua said.

The initiates laughed they were amused to hear how the people then fears vehicles and lorries.

"Those who were brave enough dared the monster and that was the threatening look of the military truck we were nervous but we had to put up with it" Joshua narrated emotionally.

"The major ordered that we board on the vehicle and we were whipped it was a very painful experience but we had to endure" Joshua added.

"After we were taken to Nanyuki for rigorous training, I encountered several friends but the best friend I encountered whom I lost him in the battle was Paul he was a real man unfortunately he stepped on the landmine and he was lifted up by the bomb and teared into pieces blood spread all over the place" Joshua narrated sadly.

He shed tears of sadness the initiates were very emotional and sympathized with him and Paul.

"To be a soldier you need subject your brain to work, you don't need only your physical strength but you need to use the five common sense" Joshua advised.

"In Nanyuki it is a semi arid land or semi desert we used to wake up early for training running for forty two kilometres carrying heavy guns the military truck used to follow us from behind and if you were unable to run you were canned" Joshua added.

There was a time we were trained how to use guns but other recruits were very afraid of the gun sound others frightened to an extent of being unconscious we used to run to be the first one for us to get time for resting as the truck approach we started running again past the others" Joshua narrated.

"After running forty two kilometres we were taken to the gun training bay, the instructor used to show us how to dislocate a gun and fix it again, that was the most interesting thing to do to me and Paul we became the best shooters in our battalion" Joshua described.

How did you manage to learn how to use guns I really fear guns?" Robin asked.

Joshua laughed and cleared his throat in order to explain well.

"We had instructors who are in shooting and how to handle guns they thought us how to shoot that is why we became the sharp shooters in our time" Joshua said.

"How about bombs how did you learn how to use them?" David asked.

"We were taken to the jungle for us to be trained how to use the bombs though they were very risky we had to learn through our instructors" Joshua said.

The evening sun set as Joshua narrated his experience in the army during the second world war, Sarah Maggy and Sandy were done cooking for the initiates Joshua stood after finishing narrating stories to initiates to go and bring evening meals.

Maggy saw Joshua approaching they had prepared the meals and parked for him to take for the initiates.

"My daughter, are you back I thought you will take much time even a week to return as your mother Sarah said to me" Joshua said.

"We were going to hand over hospital belonging to the hospital before embarking on our work here to take care of our boys" Maggy said.

Sandy smiled when he heard Joshua he likes the old man very much he has advises that is why he let Robin to be initiated there.

"How are the boys doing" Maggy asked.

Sandy moved closer to hear what Joshua was to say.

"I like your boys they like soldiering story bear in mind that we have three soldiers in my house" Joshua said.

Maggy and Sandy didn't recollect what Joshua said Sarah laughed Maggy and Sandy were surprised in what Joshua said

"I didn't get you please elaborate in what you said" Sandy said smiling.

"I sad I Robin and David are soldiers in this house me being a commander" Joshua said.

Sandy and Maggy laughed they expected to see real soldiers,

I see you are laughing you don't know what I mean they say like father like son or like mother like daughter wait and see in six years time I will proof you wrong or right or I proof me wrong or right " Joshua assured.

"If the two boys decides to join military please don't discourage them let them be" Joshua said.

"I have only one son I cannot allow that to happen its too risky for them" Maggy said.

"We are here to experience, I will be there in eight years coming I will personally go for their pass out I promise you" Joshua said.

"Its going to be me is is going to organize how we are going to go for the ceremony, I have twenty bulls, I will sell four of them for all of us to go to the pass out ceremony" Joshua assured.

Maggy and Sandy looked at each other in surprise as Sarah smiled at Joshua.
