Initiates going for hunting in the forest.

Joshua returned carrying food from Sarah, he had also milk in the traditional guard Robin salivates because he likes sow milk, Joshua placed it on the ground and the initiates sat semicircular Joshua served the food "Ugali" mixture of maize flour and water, he served vegetable and served sow milk.

"My sons you eat, I don't eat much because I don't grow anymore," Joshua said.

"I need you to eat for you to be strong enough for you to be recruited into the army just like me, I am getting younger and ladies admire me because I keep myself fit and eat well and I don't drink much alcohol," Joshua said

The initiates laughed when he said Ladies still admire him, Joshua lit the fire as usual and roasted wild meat as he monitor how initiates eat.

"At your age, our father was a no-nonsense man he used to deny us food if we disappoint him especially if we let the cattle eat our neighbor's maze plantation then that day we could not sleep in the house but received beating and slept outside in the cold" Joshua said.

The fire was lit as Joshua narrated his experience in the early age it became warmer and the initiates dozed off.

"Tomorrow I am going to take you to the forest to hunt wild animals and teach you how to set a trap for them," Joshua said.

The initiates became attentive and listened to what Joshua said that was going to be the first experience ever to go to the forest to hunt and gather wild fruits.

"Tomorrow I am going to teach you the life skills in life, you need the life skills for you to make wise decisions in life or for you as young people to make the right judgment" Joshua explained.

Robin and David wondered how hunting in the forest going to be a life skill.

"How is that going to be a life skill," Robin asked.

"Don't take it literally, forest symbolize a strange land, the wild animal being hunted is a living like seeking a job the strategy of trapping a wild animal is way how to earn a living or how to get a job, then there are lessons to be learned in the entire process" Joshua explained.

Robin and David listened carefully, they yearned for the hunting they had never been in the forest before or even hunted on a bush.

Ezekiel the old man came with wires for trapping wild rabbits Robin and David were very surprised to see the wire.

"How do they trap the wild animal," David asked.

"I don't have any idea but we shall learn tomorrow from Ezekiel he is going to teach us how to trap the animals," Robin said.

Ezekiel burned the wire inside the fire initiates were surprised.

"Why are you burning the wire?" Robin asked.

"If you use the wire which it has trapped the wild animal the animal will shy away because of a smell and you will not trap any animal" Ezekiel explains.

The initiates were very surprised the following day the initiates went into the forest with Ezekiel being led by Joshua they went into the dip part of the forest, it was not easy to use bows and arrows to hunt but Ezekiel despite being told he could shoot precisely to the target.

Robin and David gave the traditional weapons bows and arrows Joshua thought them how to shoot and they were quick enough to learn.

They had to find a clear area in the forest to practice how to shoot the target the initiates were all provided with bows and arrows, David was the one to start to shoot.

"Everyone be at your position to shoot," Ezekiel said.

The initiates assembled themselves in a straight line facing a fig tree, they made a fig tree as the target.

"The first person to shoot" Ezekiel shouted.

David shot the target and the arrow fell on here feet Joshua laughed.

"You don't shoot that way you shoot standing steel holding your bow in a vertical position then bring your arrow to the position where you can direct the arrow using your eyes and shoot" Ezekiel demonstrated.

He shot and hit precisely at the target, the initiates were very surprised at how Ezekiel managed to shoot and hit the target.

"Once again hold your bows and arrows at exactly to the position of your eyes pull the string to a certain length then shoot" Joshua instructed

They shot and most of them shot the target, the initiates were amazed at how it was very easy to use the bows and arrows to hunt wild animals.

"I see most of you have learned how to shoot, there is a very important animal who aid you to hunt and that animal is a dog, the dog can guide you to know where the wild animals are and even smell danger ahead of you" Ezekiel explained.

Today's activity was to train you also there is another way of hunting and that is trapping wild animals like wild rabbits.

Joshua removed the wire dig a small hole and put some maize grain and created an opening where the animal would enter and cut the spring and trap itself inside the hole.

"Have you seen how the wild animals are being trapped?" Joshua asked.

"Yes, The initiates responded.

"What is the purpose of the grain in the hole?" Robin asked

"It acts as a bait to attract the animal to cut the string and end up trapping itself in the hole" Ezekiel explained.

That was a very interesting class for the initiates they were amazed by the old men's skills for hunting.

"At what time do the animals come to the trapping area?" Robin asked.

"At exactly, four am in the morning is when they are looking for food in the process the grains act as a bait," Ezekiel said.

"I hope you have learned something here not only hunting but also life skills currently it is illegal to hunt wild animals but I just wanted you to know how we used to survive at our age at exactly your age," Joshua said.

"Tomorrow we will come very early in the morning to check if the wild rabbit has been trapped if we are lucky enough we are going to have a good meal wild rabbits meat is very delicious" Joshua explained.

The initiates were very happy and anxious to know how the wild rabbits are going to be trapped.
