Past Is Still Hunting

Apollo held Ave's wrist to check her pulse. Then he posed a finger on her neck to check if her heart was still beating.

"What's wrong?" Jack, who was sitting on the bed beside Aveline, asked.

"Your majesty, she should be ok. It's probably the poison's reaction on her body... I've found an antidote that can cure the poison but it can't... heal the damage caused." The brown-haired man said with an apologetic tone as he stared at the ground.

"Do everything needed to heal her, damn it!" He shouted angrily.

"Also, your majesty... The p-poison..." he mumbled.

"What about it?"

"Umm... it caused so much damage that... she can't get pregnant anymore..." He hesitantly spoke.

Jack's eyes widen as he parted his lips to speak, Aveline opened her eyes.

Her beautiful jade-like eyes shone as she saw Jack in front of her. She grinned softly.

"What are you doing here? You were yelling so much. My ears were about to bleed. She sarcastically spoke while laughing.

"Avi. Stop scaring me." Jack sighed in relief that she finally woke up as he caressed her soft hair.

"Well then. I'll get going." Apollo spoke feeling his lips heavy. His heart stung as he saw how happy they were together and almost wished he was the one next to her. 'Oh my god, I'm going crazy! Get a hold of yourself!' He yelled at himself as he bowed down and exited the queen's bed-chamber.

"Ok." Jack allowed his physician to leave the room as he enjoyed his wife's company.

As the doctor left the room, Jack jumped next to Aveline, surprising her.

"What are you doing?!" She yelled with an embarrassed look on her face as she glanced at the maids. Their faces were getting flushed as well.

Jack chuckled and wrapped his arms around her. "Loving my wife." He spoke with a soft and gentle tone, melting away Ave again.

She almost forgot the nightmare she had a while ago...

"Jack, go out. I need to get changed." Ave slowly separated herself from him.

"Alright. I'll tell them to make breakfast. Also, my eyes came back to normal." He smiled softly as his lips pressed against her forehead before leaving the chamber.

"Sigh." Aveline sighed in relief as she looked towards Hana who was smirking at her.

Hana stepped towards her queen with a sneer on her lips. "Don't tell me you got close like this so quickly. You didn't even meet for two months! This is love, isn't it?!" She started fangirling on the couple.

"Stop fangirling." Ave pouted cutely.

"Huh? Fangirling? What's that, your highness?" Her lady in waiting asked, confused.

"N-nothing. Prepare my dress." She quickly spoke nervously, fearing that Hana might suspect something is off with her.

"Alright."

Thankfully, Hanna just let it slide and went to prepare Ave's dress.

***

"Boss, wait right there." A man's deep and husky voice yelled while Ave was running faster than ever. Her life depended on it! If she made the mistake to stop even for a half-second, her life would be gone.

"Hah... hah..." She panted running out of breath.

"BOSS!" A man from the shadow was running behind her with a large dagger that looked very sharp.

Ave turned around and saw the dragger almost stab her!

***

"...majesty?"

"Your majesty??" Hana tilted her head to the side wondering that's wrong with the queen.

"Ah." Ave came back to her senses. "Yeah?"

"Are you okay?" The maid asked with a worried look on her face.

Aveline's face had turned pale and some sweat was visible, making Hana order what's on her mistress' mind.

"I'm fine. Let's get going." The queen spoke with her usual elegant tone and expression.

'I wonder why I keep having nightmares about my past life although I'm dead. Is it what people all trauma?' The queen wondered.

The maid felt relieved and followed her.

The guards in front of the dining y'all bowed as they saw the queen heading their way.

"Good morning, your highness."

"Good morning." Ave took the effort to say all the way.

'Damn it! It would be easier to just say morning like in modern days but that's too suspicious. Oh well, it's a good thing I don't need to bow to people. I still don't know how that works. Should I study?" Ave thought while heading towards the dining room.

Ave entered the room wearing a comfortable light pink dress. Not too extravagant or cheap looking. She had her hair braided on both sides. Each side had a beautiful hairpin in form of a heart.

Well, she was the queen and had her dignity to uphold. She couldn't possibly appear looking messy. It might be a disgrace for the whole royal family as well.

'Jack might as well cut my head.' Ave thought while taking a deep breath.

"Avi!" Jack weaved at her with a bright smile.

Aveline grinned and went beside the king. She sat on his right side while a servant pulled the chair for her.

"Let's eat," Jack spoke as he grabbed his breakfast on the plate.

Aveline nodded and started eating as well.

After a few minutes, the couple had finished eating and the maid got rid of the plates on the tables. Jack and Ave were still sitting at the table.

"Jack. Don't you think I need to..." Ave almost said she needed to learn more about this world. Thankfully, she bite her tongue before.

"To what?" Jack asked her confused about what's going on in her mind.

"Learn some etiquettes now that I'm a queen?" Ave continued her sentence although her tongue was painful.

Jack who noticed her pain frowned and extended his hand towards her.

Ave closed her eyes tightly as she thought he was going to do something weird...

to her surprised, he lifted her chin with little strength and gazed into her eyes.

"W-what?" She asked looking around, feeling her heart beating at an immense speed.

"Nothing. Be careful when you speak." He smiled at her with a warm gaze.

"So can I?" Ave asked again.

Jack chuckled. "Of course, my queen. Everything on this land is yours. I'll just go get a good tutor for you."

Ave was delighted and excited to get to finally learn more about this country and its history!

"You'd be such a good student," Jack mumbled with a low voice Ave failed to hear.

"Hm? You said something?" She titled her head to the side, which made her look even cuter in his eyes.

"Nothing." Jack turned his head to hide his flushed face and quickly stood up. "I'm going to train the knights. You should rest more. Your body is still weak." Jack said with his back turned as he walked outside of the hall.

"Sigh!" Aveline stood up and was about to leave the room. She glanced behind as she felt someone approaching from behind.

"Huh? No one?.." She was shocked to find that no one was behind her. She scratched her head and turned to continue her way thinking she misheard the noise earlier. "So weird. It sounded like someone was there behind, for sure... Oh well, I'm probably imagining things."

What she failed to see was a woman's silhouette in the shadow that was standing in the corner of the door. She was giving her deadly glares. Only a part of her grey hair was visible.
