Chapter 053

"So am I from the Sefirah Castle too?" wondered Alvin.

The dresser and the mirror, if he wasn't mistaken was the same one that ends up in the room of Miss Justice. The Beyonder next to Count Hall detected something, so he purchased it on a pretence. Later, unable to find out what it was, he would give it to his daughter, claiming it was an extraordinary item. And when Klien first entered the Sefirah Castle, he would accidentally trigger the mirror and pull Miss Justice into the Source Castle.

Alvin's feeling of familiarity with it was because he owned an item that also probably had a connection to the Sefirah Castle, like the mirror on this dresser, the globe held by the Admiral of Stars, and the glass bottle with the Hanged Man.

It was a small handheld polished mirror. He had found it among a pile of junk in the houses of one of his targets long back. He felt that it was something special, but couldn't tell what. Hence, he pocketed it to find out what it was. He never found it, and assumed he was mistaken. But since he had it, he used it for his everyday hunting purposes, mostly for seeing around corners or shine lights on certain objects to alert their presence to others in the area. The handle had a comfortable grip, hence he frequently used it.

On the night he transmigrated, he had the mirror in his pocket when he left for the town to try and get the Hunter Pathway item. When he took inventory after he transmigrated, he found that the mirror was broken. He had assumed that it was just because he banged it somewhere during the chase, but now he had another conjecture.

"Did the mirror summon me from the Sefirah Castle somehow? Is that why the mirror broke? Because the objects with Miss Justice, the Hanged Man, the Sun, Hermit shattered after they summoned them to the castle for the first time. Does that mean that the mark that establishes by connection to the Sefirah Castle also sunk into the back of my hand?" wondered Alvin.

After thinking it a while, he shook his head, deciding to leave it for later.

"Alvin, are you all right? You seem quiet. Is it about that dresser?" asked Barford.

"No. I was thinking about something else. Anyway, we were leaving I believe?" asked Alvin.

"Indeed. The items seem amazing only for the first time I suppose. Now we should go. I will take you to meet a big person" said Bradford.

Alvin nodded and followed Bradford out.

The carriage stopped in front of a manor with a spacious backyard. Bradford asked Alvin to wait in the backyard while he brought the person over.

Alvin, who was extremely familiar with the locations of the manors in the Empress Borough knew that this belonged to Earl Hall, and his previous speculation that the person he was going to meet would be Miss Justice, Audrey Hall was correct.

Wanting to impress her, he began looking around for something to dazzle her by.

"Audrey, this is my good friend, Alvin Hans. He belonged to Hans family in East Chester County. But, unfortunately, the family declined in the past year, and Alvin came to the heart of Loen seeking opportunities" said Bradford, leading a young woman with long blonde hair and emerald eyes inside.

Alvin observed the Gem of Backlund, the future Miss Justice, as he gave a formal curtsy, "It is my pleasure to meet you, Miss Hall"

"Bradford tells me you are a Beyonder. Is that so?" she asked with shining eyes.

"Indeed. A few months ago, I was lucky enough to have the chance to become a part of the Extraordinary world" said Alvin humbly.

"Can you show me?" she asked expectantly.

"I am afraid the Pathway I took does not have any manifest able specialities" said Alvin.

"However, I can try and show off some skill" said Alvin.

He then went up to the nearby grass, and pulled put a few tufts of it, and with the help of a few twigs, he made a rather good looking net.

"That is amazing? Bradford told me your Sequence was named Hunter? Is the ability to make traps part of its abilities?" asked Audrey.

"Yes" said Alvin, as he heated a smooth pebble. After a few moments, he turned around and flung it towards a tree. A young squeak could be heard, as something fell down. Alvin flung the net towards the falling figure. The net smoothly caught the figure, and engaged itself in one of the branches.

Alvin then went over, picked up the net and handed it over to Audrey. She took apart the net to see an adorable brown squirrel .

"Wow! This is a squirrel! They are rare in Backlund and notoriously difficult to catch" exclaimed Bradford.

"Actually, a skilled non-extraordinary Hunter could do the same thing, but he would need at least 10 years of practice and experience to do so. But since I took the potion, I learnt such things in an accelerated timeframe" explained.

"Is the squirrel dead?" asked Audrey.

"Not at all. I just knocked it out. Actually, squirrels are quite friendly. If you give him food and water when he walked up, even if he takes off, he will come back to you afterwards" said Alvin.

Audrey thanked Alvin, and ran inside to ask a make to fetch some nuts and water.

"Wow! A gift at the first meeting? How come you didn't show off your skills and gift me a squirrel the previous time huh?" asked Bradford sourly.

"You know, if you do become an Apothecary, the next stage is Beast Tamer. That involves taming and deploying all kinds of animals. If you do reach that stage, I promise I will hunt animals for you" said Alvin.

"Alright then. It's a deal" said Bradford, as they both sat down and waited for the excited Audrey Hall to return.
