Chapter 061

While waiting for Ennoru to come back, as Alvin waited in the woods, he saw a line hunter walk into the woods. Wanting to know some information, Alvin snuck up to him.

He pulled out a black hat from the Red Castle and put it on.

The hat was called the Dream World Hat. It was the item he had redeemed from the Nighthawks. It gave him the powers of a Nightmare, to force others to sleep and infiltrate their dreams. The negative effect was that the dream world would distort and corrupt him if he used it for a longer period of time. Also, as long as he held it ok him, there was a chance that he would spontaneous fall asleep and perform whatever task he was in the middle of in his dream only, eventually getting lost if he didn't wake up soon.

Keeping it in the Red Castle and only taking it put when needed was the best solution Alvin could come up with.

He stealthily followed the Hunter, and waited until he stopped for some rest. After that, he used the hat to access his dreams.

As soon as he entered, it seemed he was back in Blue Cliff Village. But now, the whole village looked lovely and bustling, and the guy whose dream he was in was the best hunter of the village, with states of him everywhere.

Alvin spotted the man, and walked up to him, and said, "Hey man!"

"Who are you?" he asked.

"It's me! Your longtime friend Alvin! Don't you remember?" asked Alvin.

The conversation method was a relatively gentle method of infiltrating dreams. You couldn't force what you want to appear from the target's memory, but you could guide them to recall it.

"Oh, Alvin! Of course!" said the man with a sudden look of realisation.

"Nice to see you again. I just came back. And there seem to be lots of familiar faces here. Look, there is Ennoru" said Alvin pointing in a random direction.

Ennoru manifested on the spot as the hunter focused there thinking of him.

"Ugh. I hate him. Look at that smug face. I still don't get why the elders put up with him" said the Hunter.

"Well, he is the Lucky Hero. He shares a lot of food with the villagers right?" asked Alvin.

"Some hero. He terrorises us, and throws a few pieces of meat every now and then. The village elders for some baffling reason allow him to do as he pleases, and even forbid us from revealing anything to outsiders" said the hunter angrily

"What did he do?" asked Alvin.

"Well, you know. Luring some kids that were mean to him into the woods, and coming out and claiming that they ran away. Killing that poor woman so horrifically because she refused to marry him. And bludgeoning his own father to death because he reprimanded him in public. Those old fools are just scared of that weird luck and strange powers that guy has. And whenever he comes by, Ennoru goes deep into the moors and gets that weird plant that let them live on. Hence they tolerate him" said the hunter disdainfully.

"Speaking of, there is poor Jimmy. Such a tragedy what happened to him. No wonder he hates Ennoru so much" said Alvin.

The face of the person who guided him here manifested nearby.

"Indeed. Poor Jimmy. What happened to his sister should not have happened to anyone. He swore that he would kill Ennoru at that time. But unfortunately, we can't do anything. His luck and power are way too strange. Jimmy was warned not to cause trouble try to involve the police, or that his parents would suffer" said the hunter regretfully.

After finding some more information about Ennoru and the village elders, and then left the dream.

He redeposited the hat into the Red Castle.

He then went to the side to analyse what he heard.

Ennoru was born strangely lucky, and could do many unimaginable things with his luck. But he was an absolutely horrible person, relishing in vices, and treating everyone poorly. He terrorised the whole village, and caused them suffering.

Alvin theorised that he had an item that could bring him luck, but the side effect was the lessening or loss of restraint. Any bad thought he had, he did it because of the negative effects of this item. He relied on his luck to get by.

One smart thing he had done was discover some plant deep in the moor that could delay ageing, and let the dying elders of the village become healthier. No one but him knew the location of the plant, nor could they go deep into the moor and get it like him.

Using this, he maintained control and power in the village, by keeping the elders firmly on his side, who tolerated anything he did within the village.

Alvin suspected the reason he still maintained ties with the village was due to the fact he needed a foothold to access the Extraordinary Characteristics like that of the Midnight Poet he had sold earlier. So he suspected that the location of the treasure was somewhere deep in the moor. Nevertheless, the moor was simply enormous. Hence, he waited if Ennoru to lead him to that place instead.

As he waited, he snuck into the elders' house and entered their dreams, to confirm that there wasn't any other Beyonder in the village, or any other thing that could be a problem later on. He found nothing. The elders did not seem weird, corrupted or mutated, so Alvin ruled out the plant being some mutated corruption. He also found the patents of Jimmy in the village, and learnt that they had been secretly warned by Jimmy to run to a place if there was trouble in the village, where he would be waiting with a carriage.

After that, he went back to his vantage point and started lazing around.

He waited till dusk after which he spotted a sneaky figure walking into the village. Alvin gave a smile, as he saw who it was.

It was Ennoru! The prey was approaching the trap!
