Chapter 062

Ennoru went into the village, seemingly visiting the elders who were his supporters. Alvin did not get close, but he did use the Ear of the Crazed to spy on their conversations.

The situation was as he had expected. Ennoru used the lure of the age halting plants and the threat of luring predators to the village to ensure that no one talked about it, and to make sure no outsider could get a foothold in the village. After a brief conversation with a few of the elders, Ennoru walked into the moor.

Alvin hung much father behind, and started following.

Ennoru had rich experience in the wilderness, and left few obvious tracks as he moved along. But Alvin was much more skilled, and could track him with what was left. Alvin also saw the luck of Ennoru, as he walked straight without any obstruction. But Alvin, who wished ill to Ennoru, suffered quite a bit. He frequently tripped over some hidden root, got stuck in unexpected bogs twice, was attacked by a few boars, and even suffered a small wound on his leg as a sneaky fox for some reason bit him. But thankfully, he managed to keep himself from making an obvious disturbance each time. And due to the fact that he stayed far away from Ennoru, coupled with his lack of awareness, owing to his overconfidence probably, Ennoru did not detect him.

Alvin thus followed behind Ennoru, deep into the moor.

After half a day of walking, they were in a vast rocky valley, with a bunch of dry plants growing all around. Ennoru, now much slower than before, walked into the valley.

Sensing his change of pace, Alvin quickly wore the Cloak of Forgetfulness, which he took out from the Red Castle, and wore it and approached closer to Ennoru.

The non-alert Ennoru was completely oblivious to Alvin who had worn the Cloak of Forgetfulness, which was not surprising, because Alvin had once walked past a group of Nighthawks using it.

Ennoru slowly crept towards the interior of the valley, where there were multiple rocky outcrops. He touched them with his hands, and felt along them, until he reached a particular spot. He then heaved there, causing a portion of the rock to be lifted. He then slipped into the gap, leaving the rock in the position as it was before. Alvin couldn't lift the rock himself right after, as even with the cloaking effect of the Cloak of Forgetfulness and the lack of awareness on the part of Ennoru, a rock being lifted up would be pretty obvious to anyone.

Instead, he used the Ear of the Crazed to listen to him, and determined the distance and the direction he had gone in.

After 2 minutes, Alvin decided he had gone far enough, and lifted the rock and went in.

Sure enough, the place below was a mess, extending in several directions. As Alvin had listened and was still listening to the sound of the footsteps of Ennoru, Alvin was able to quickly follow him.

While doing so, he looked around at the tunnel. It seemed to be naturally made, but with the existence of Beyonder powers it wasn't out if there's of possibility that it was artificially made. And it seemed to lead right into the centre of the base of the mountain.

Alvin went deeper and deeper, until he almost caught up with Ennoru. But he didn't slow down , and kept walking. He then stayed a few steps behind Ennoru, and walked behind him.

Along the way, he saw a few plants growing, which seemed to be the same plants he saw hidden in stashed in some of the elder's houses, and the ones he saw in their dreams when asking about Ennoru. They were the age halting herbs that enabled him to have such an influence in the village.

Alvin decided to take a few plants back to Naomi, to see if she could do something about it. Age halting plants had tremendous value, and if properly capitalised upon could make a fortune. It would also help him get influence quickly among the nobles when he reclaimed his title, which he intended to do when he was at least Sequence 5.

Ennoru was either dumb or smart in this regard. He didn't foolishly expose these magical plants, in which case he would be devoured alive within minutes. He also didn't capitalise on it, by selling it in small quantities in select Beyonder gatherings, rather using it to bribe a few ordinary people fearing death. Although to be fair, if he did so, Alvin wouldn't be the first one to follow him back to his apartment from the gathering and make his life hell.

After walking through a complicated set of tunnels, Ennoru finally stopped beside a large stone, which was blocking the way further. He did not move it, and instead sat down in a relatively flat and wide pocket in the tunnel, just before the large stone. It looked like a rest stop he had prepared, because there were a few beddings, bottles of water, and some blankets in that place. Ennuro sat down in the place he prepared, and started to sleep.

Not being a Beyonder with an enhanced constitution, he was tired from the half day trek and probably wanted to get some rest and recover both his physical state and mental state, before going in and confronting whatever was in there.

Alvin put on the Dream World Hat, and used its powers to ensure that he would remain in a deep sleep. Just as he was about to go into his dream world to understand everything he had experienced, he decided to first see what was behind the stone rock. So, leaving Ennoru who was fast asleep, Alvin went up to the rock and slowly moved it.

He did not intend to enter, as it was very unwise to go unprepared. He just wanted to have a peek, and see what was in there.

As soon as he took a place inside, horror. Panicked, he immediately removed the strength he was applying, and allowed the stone to fall back into place. He then clutched his head, and screamed in agony. He could feel all kinds of things coursing through his mind, and rapidly left him on the brink of losing control. Thinking of a valid countermeasure, he wrenched open the Red Castle and dived into it.

The sleeping Ennoru and the Red Box beside him were all that was left in the cave for a while.
