Chapter 089

Gordon led the charge into the now flaming warehouse, with Rico and Raleigh following close behind. Hannah and Alvin hung back a little, while Donald burst into flame as he dematerialised, probably already in the flaming warehouse somewhere.

As soon as they charged in, he heard a loud yell, as multiple shadow spears pierced towards the group. Gordon pulled out a charm and tossed it, yelling "Light" in ancient Hermes, upon which a dazzling light dissolved all the shadow spears. He then leapt up and pounced towards the source of shadows.

He collided with a burly man, after which he activated a small slate he was holding, upon which both of them vanished.

"In there" said Rico pointing at the place the man had just emerged from. All of them ran in, and saw a man in front of them.

Alvin recognised him as Lyod, and instantly sprung to action, launching himself forward, kicking off the wall to gain height and momentum, and dropkicked his face.

While he made contact, he was a bit confused as he could see weariness on his face.

Rico and Raleigh immediately put the fallen Lyod into a deep sleep, and tossed him to the side.

They then advanced, and came across the two suspected Shadow Ascetics, Gregory and Lillard. The group immediately and tacitly spilt up, with Rico and Raleigh pouncing on their opponents, while Hannah and Alvin hung back and prepare to assist.

The Shadow Ascetic's dissolved into shadows, and Alvin immediately threw a few small cans of gas he had in his pocket and shot them. While there were still shadows, these small fires greatly restricted their opponents.

Hannah and Alvin focused on Lillard, and gradually started to corner him. Hannah finally managed to have one of her spirits ensnare him, after which a barre of bullets from both Rico and Alvin hit him.

Now confident that Lillard would soon be trounced, Alvin sprinted towards Raleigh who was blocking Gregory. He threw another flaming can to harras him as he charged.

Suddenly, Donald manifested put from the flames and heavily collided against Gregory's back. He was sent flying to the side, whereupon Alvin drew the Sword of Culling and swiftly beheaded him.

Alvin looked over to Lillard who was also now dead, and asked, "Wasnt that too easy? I mean I know we had the numbers advantage and ambushed them, but this guy put up more of a fight when I clashed with him. And plus, they didn't use any shadow manifestations at all" said Alvin.

"Indeed. This was too easy for us to be able to kill 2 Beyonders of this pathway in under a minute" agreed Rico.

"Do you think they were exhausted by something?" asked Alvin, looking deeper into the warehouse.

"Let's proceed very carefully" said Rico, after which the 5 of them walked forward.

Soon, they came across an entrance to a tunnel. But in front of the tunnel were two grotesque monsters, and a bunch of corpses.

"Beyonders who lost control" said Donald instantly. He then took another look and said, "Seems to be Mallory and Shaun, the Listeners. I roughly scouted everywhere else, and did not find any Beyonders. This is where they went apparently"

After some fighting, they killed both then monsters. Alvin then went to check on the copses, and said, "All dead. No visible injuries though. And they all have that shiny stuff that comes out of Beyonders shortly after they die next to them" said Alvin.

"That's Beyonder characteristics, equivalent to the main ingredients of the potion" informed Rico, to which Alvin secretly smiled.

"So, do we go in there?" asked Alvin regarding the tunnel.

"I think we should wait for the captain" said Hannah, to which the others all unanimously agreed.

So they stood in silence, dragging the corpses to the side, and collecting all the extraordinary characteristics spawned.

After a while, footsteps could be heard from behind them, as Gordon came up to them.

With one hand, he was dragging the unconscious burly man they saw earlier, and with the other he was dragging the unconscious Lyod.

"Well done. It seems like we finished off every known member with no casualties and injuries" he said. He then looked around and asked, "Is there a problem?"

"Captain, the Lyod, Gregory, and Lillard all seemed exhausted and were easily taken down, and the two Listeners had lost control and were standing here with all these dead Beyonders. We suspect that they were trying to seal something, which left them all exhausted" reported Alvin.

"Now that you mention it, this Brock guy, who I confirmed is an Oracle, was too easy to take down. I mean I was fully prepared for fighting a Shepard, with plenty of trump cards, but he crumbled very shortly after I attacked him, and his grazed souls were weak. I had chalked it off to his incompetence, but it may be something else" said Gordon thoughtfully.

"Should we enter?" asked Donald.

"We can try. But maybe we should hold on. It doesn't seem to be an immediate problem. And I want to get these two to the church before anything can happen" said Gordon.

He then said, "All of you stay here. I will transport these two back to the Saint Samuel Cathedral call some reinforcements to deal with whatever this is. Try to gather information, and prevent others in this warehouse from leaving. I will be back shortly" and then he pulled put a dark cloak, and draped it around himself, after which he slowly started leivating, and them flew off, still carrying the two unconscious people.

Donald, Rico, and Raleigh and Hannah went to interrogate and control to all the people in the warehouse. Alvin, not having any means to do so on his own, stood by the tunnel just in case.

"I wonder what's in there that the Aurora Order was sealing?" wondered Alvin as he took a small peek.

Suddenly, be started hearing wails and screams from inside.

"Was it that kid Evan?" wondered Alvin as rapidly retreated.

But whatever was down there seemed to have been provoked, as all the shadows in the vicinity started moving wildly. Then, a blanket of what looked to be flesh, with blood still flowing through it started wrapping around the basement, and it pushed Alvin who was near the entrance into the blanket.
