Chapter 090

Alvin could only see wildly moving shadows all around him. He seemed to have been trapped, because his way back seemed to be blocked by a wall of flesh. The flesh was squirming, and seemed to be compressing, and pushing him back.

He felt along this wall, and eventually touched the walls of the basement. He decided to go forward slowly.

After walking for a minute, he came across what felt like a door. He was about to push it open, when his intuition triggered. He went to the side of the door and sat down next to it.

He could hear the wall of flesh screeching as it crushed the walls in the way of its compression.

"Evan? Do you hear me?" asked Alvin in the calmest voice possible.

The wailing stopped for a few seconds, then a voice he could barely recognise as Evan's came out.

"Me Hunt? Is that you? I can hear you, but I can't see you" came the voice.

"I am right here behind this door. Evan, can you tell me what's wrong?" asked Alvin.

"I can't see you Mr Hunt! I can't see! I can't see! Waaaaahhh!" the voice sounded shrilly.

"It's all right. I am just behind the door" said Alvin. He noticed that the squirming shadows and wall of flesh were more active due to the instability do whatever was inside, so he cautiously said, "Okay, I am coming out from behind the door. You can see me now"

He realised Evan had somehow turned into a Mythical Form of some pathway, just like the one he saw in Blue Cliff Town. But the creature there was trapped in a weird state, and thus posed no harm unless seen directly, but this Mythical Form was heavily polluting, and Alvin was starting to get a headache from just hearing its voice and being some distance away from it.

But to prevent it from losing control, and to stall, he took a deep breath, closed his eyes shut, and slowly walked through the door.

"I can see you Mr Hunt. I didn't see you since the day you wounded that mean Gregory" said the voice.

Now with an increased headache, and vague signs of losing control, Alvin put his hasty plan into motion.

He pulled out the Self Mirror out from under his jacket, which he had brought it in case he planned to swipe something, and needed to silence someone, and held it up against whatever was in front.

The mirror was collected by an angel family, which showed how valuable it was. If it wasn't for the trapped family not having any other item of the Spectator Pathway to allow their expedition team to blend in, they wouldn't have given it up.

Frederick had found that it could easily hypnotise Sequence 5s when he used it.

Alvin was hoping that it had some effect on whatever state Evan was in too.

"Look into the mirror. You can see yourself in a mirror, and yourself only. There is nothing you need to hide from yourself, and nothing you need be cautious of from yourself" said Alvin in a low voice.

The headaches and signs of losing control due to the Mythical Form in front of him, but he started getting different headaches and signs of losing control from the enormous amount of spirituality he expended, which he wasn't supposed to do with the injury to his spirit body.

Ignoring this growing pain, he continued, "You are Evan Rosier. Son of Stephen Rosier. You live at 9, Forkwood Street, in Cherwood Borough of Backlund. You are a good son, to a great father. You were very concerned about him, because he got mixed with shady characters. Don't you remember?"

A few seconds passed, after which he heard a sobbing sound in front of him. Alvin slowly put down the mirror and stood still. He then sighed with relief, as the pollution from the front stopped, although the after-effects from his use of spirituality were still present.

The Self Mirror would reflect anyone who looked into it, and with the right words, the wielder could hypnotise them into believing that they were all alone in front of a mirror. Then, questions could be asked, and requests could be made, which the person hypnotised would follow, as they would believe that they themselves wanted to do it. Now Alvin had found a new use. Out of control Beyonders could temporarily be restored to sanity. Alvin said temporary because the agitation of the shadows and the flesh wall was still ongoing.

"Evan, what are you doing here?" asked Alvin.

"I was brought here by that guy Brock. I couldn't resist. He trapped me here in the dark. He is a bad man" said the voice.

"What happened then?" asked Alvin.

"I don't know. Those mean people would come by once in and trouble me. They said I took something, and they wanted it back. But I don't remember taking it, or how to give it back" said the voice. It then said, "I heard them say how I took it, but I don't know how to give it back" said Evan.

"What is it?" asked Alvin.

"It's a black blob. My father was tasked to secretly deliver it to Brock. But he lost it. But he didn't lose it. I ate it by mistake. I don't remember it happening" said the voice.

"What is the blob?" asked Alvin.

"I don't know. Brock said I ate his hope for advancement" said the voice.

Alvin was pretty sure he knew what the blob was by now, but he kept his calm and kept talking.

"What happened after we last met?" asked Alvin.

"I remembered my father's instructions. I packed everything, posted all the prepared letters inside the safe, and went into hiding. But they found me. They beat me. I was scared. Then they left me back in my house. That's when I saw the blob. It was inside me. With it, I can listen to everything on the whole street! I can control shadows and my flesh! I can even make people do whatever I want!" said the voice excitedly, as the shadows started thrashing.
