Kathy's POV
I rolled my eyes immediately and it made Jack stiff.
What a piece of walking rock he is.
Oh wait... A brick.
"I didn't really expect this to happened Mr. Bonneville." I said, "Please sit down so I'll discuss the problem property," He look at the chair in front of me and sat elegantly in manly way.
"Troubles can happened no matter how confident you are with your plan Ms. Hutton." He said and crossed his legs. He rested his clasp hands on his knees, slowly swinging his right leg comfortably. "Now, pray tell what happened?"
My stomach begin to rumble and I tried my very best to utter some respectable words but I was too nervous to say it.
God, I hate it.
"Five machines went down on our manufacturing company. My manager in China called and told me that maybe it'll take five months to fix or I don't know Mr. Bonneville maybe even a year." I couldn't even look up to see his face, "I just don't understand, we bought the machine 3 years ago it's very new, how can such thing happened."
"You bought the machine 3 years ago?"
"Yes." Still not looking at him.
"That's very impossible, Ms. Hutton." He said and uncross his legs down, "A machine with good quality lasts more than five years even. How many brand new machines you bought Ms. Hutton?"
"About 7, Mr. Bonneville." I finally looked at him and his eyes seem to be confused though his face doesn't show it but his eyes certainly do. "Is there a problem Mr. Bonneville?" I asked.
He tore his gaze away from me and looked at my glass window, blankly. The silence make me feel uncomfortable because it seems like he knows something that I don't. After another couple of seconds he finally spoke.
"How much did it cost?"
"Excuse me?"
"How much did the 7 machine cost when you bought it?"
"I bought it in Japan—"
"How much did it cost?"
His steal voice make me shudder, slouching in defeat, I said, "In about 2 million, Mr. Bonneville."
"Japan?"
"Yes, Sir."
Jack cleared his throat and lean on his chair, "As I expected. How can you throw away such money on a second hand machine, Kathy."
I wince a little when he say my name, it's been five years since I heard him say it. Though he called me by name on our first meeting but today is different, it feels like I failed him again and didn't do well enough. I can feel the disappointment through the tone of his voice.
I gulped and said, "T-those were not second hand machine Mr. Bonneville." I defened, "It was brand new when we went to Japan and it was in good condition before we bought it—"
"Second hands are supposed to look in good conditions, Ms. Hutton." He but in and looked at me, "How can't you not see that it was a second hand machine? Just because it's shiny and glossy that doesn't mean it's new, try looking at some specific details like labels that are over printed, Machine sounds and bolts, did you even try to look and check it? I bet not." He said disappointingly, "Woman and machine does not always fit right. I don't know how you got the position as a CEO in this company, which supposed to be a fitted work for a man. Who's the previous owner of this company? How can they let them handle you such thing? You can't even keep your workers that work under you some proper wages and now that this has happened, I believe that you'll find it extra hard to get them payed. What—"
A loud slap echoed across the room and I can feel the itchy sting on my hand slowly turns into pain. I glared at him and a very red hand shape mark started to visible on his face, which he freaking deserve. He clenched his jaw and slowly looked at me but I didn't care, I was too furious at him.
"How dare you look down on me just because I'm a woman. I became the CEO of this company because I climb my way here through my sweat, blood and tears and I didn't ask anyone for help. I did it all by myself, Mr. Bonneville." I growled, "And my secretary called you to come in today because I want your help on this problem since you told me if anything happens to the manufacturing company, you're just a call away but I was wrong. You didn't change, you're just the same old Jack Bonneville I meet five years ago. A heartless, walking peice of stone who only think of nothing else but himself."
He was speechless, he just looked at me. The other side of his face was getting more red and it didn't seem to bother him at all. Well of course it won't bother him, He's an emotionless bloke, what do you expect?
A pool of tear starting to build in my eyes but I tried my best to stop them, there is no use crying. It won't help me deal with my problem now that I don't have anyone to help me with, Jack was my only option but there's no doubt that he'll help me now that I have slapped him across the face. Even though I needed his help, I don't want anyone to stepped on me all over again.
"Please, leave." My voice quivered. Oh heck, I failed. "Jack, please leave." A tear started to fall on my cheek but I tried to suck it in. "Forget that I needed your help, I'll—"
Suddenly, a warm lips smash with mine, making me shut up. I widen my eyes in shock, Jack was kissing me a little rough but was gentle enough to make me feel comfortable under his touch. He inserted his tongue to my mouth making my legs wiggle uncontrollably, he's probably trying to reach out with me but my desk was too wide for him to reach.
He did the impossible and grab me by my butt and hoist me up, dragging me across the table to him. I didn't even know what I was doing but I grab his collar and kissed him senselessly. Our tongues was dancing with glee, he cupped my cheeks and tilted his head making our kiss deepen, dragons begin to burst fires inside my stomach and they were soaring high everywhere. A moan escape my lips and that made him bit my bottom lip.
I wanted to stop but I can't, we both know we can't.
