Chapter 23 - Late

Kathy's Pov

*Ring! *Ring!

I gently rub my eyes, trying to clear my blurry vision. I reach out my hand on the side table and turned off the alarm clock.

Damn, I slept late last night.

I mean... Who would love to sleep early at night when I slept all day on the plane.

Stretching myself, I release a big sigh and look at the window, the sun was out and what time is it?

I stood up from the bed and yawned, I look at my phone and there was a note tape to it saying:

"*********** That's my number, call me when you wake up, I have somewhere to be first. I want you to be in Grace Hotel before 9 am, I'll meet you there. David, one of my drivers will drive you to the Hotel. We'll meet someone very important there. Do not disappoint me."

I widen my eyes and look at the time with my phone, it's already 8:30 am. I don't have much time to get ready. Blood rush to my brain and I hurriedly went to the bathroom and wash myself.

"F*ck, F*ck, F*ck." I mumble, "Damn it, Kathy. Why did you slept late last night. Oh, mighty mighty mighty god, kill me now, Why do I have to mess up on the first day."

I pat on my make up and I heard a soft knock on my door, "Yes?"

"I'm David Ms. Hutton, I want to remind you that we'll take off any minute now. I'm sorry but I don't want to see Mr. Bonneville Mad." He said.

Oh goddamn sh*t, that make me even more nervous and how fucked up, I am. "I'm almost done." I said, and put on my lipstick and went out the bathroom, all dressed up. David was already out and just by the sound of his shoes clicking outside the door makes me even more nervous. I hurriedly grab all my stuff.

"Let's go!" I exclaimed and we ran like maniacs to the car.

The travel felt like hours, I kept on tapping my fingers on my lap hoping we'll be there soon. This is all my fault, what if David will loss his job because of me?

I bit my bottom lip and glance at my watch and it's 8:56, David was tapping the steering wheel too, making me gulp. "Will we make it in time, David?"

David didn't even bother looking at me and said, "I don't know Ms. Hutton but I'll try my best to be there as soon as possible."

Worry plaster all over my face, "Will Jack fire you if we end up late?"

"I hope not, Ma'am." He said and continued driving a bit faster.

Hell, I know Jack was my client but I can't disappoint him like this, I owe him a lot for this and why in the hell do I have to be late on the first day.

An audible groan escape my lips, "If he woke me up, this wouldn't happened." I said and look at David who's eye focus on the road, "If we end up late, do not worry, I'll talk to Jack."

David glance at me through the mirror and said, "Are you and Mr. Bonneville close, Ms. Hutton?"

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Well we were before but we treat each like normal acquaintances today. We were much closer before."

Why is he asking me this?

And

Why did I answered it.

"Then I'm afraid talking won't do much of it, Ms. Hutton. But don't worry we are almost there, in about 2 minutes."

8:58

Tapping my foot, David turn on the right and we arrived at the front of the Hotel building, large font displayed above saying "Grace Hotel." My mouth hung open watching the label above, I never knew Grace Hotel would be this big.

"Let's hurry, Ms. Hutton. We don't want Mr. Bonneville waiting."

David and I ran inside the Hotel, people were busy packing their bags and busy talking to the receptionist at the front but my eyes was searching for Jack.

"There he is, Ms. Hutton." David pointed at a Man who was peacefully sitting at the waiting area with two guards beside him.

I ran fast and went to him and I ran out of breath already.

Gosh, I need to freaking exercise.

"Mr—" I gasped, "Mr— Bonneville. I'm here." I said still gasping for air.

Jack look at me like he's trying not to choke me to death right here. He clench his jaw and said, "You are late."

Three words

But I feel like I just died, my heart stop for a millisecond.

I looked at my wrist watch and it was 8:59, a smile spread across my lips, "It's 8:59 I'm not yet late."

Jack stood up from his chair, eyes glaring at me."Grace is waiting for us in at the restaurant, do you have any decency left on you?" His voice like ice travelling down to my body, so this is what David meant when he doesn't like Mr. Bonneville angry.

He is very angry, I can tell. I swear.

"I'm not technically late, you said before 9, I am here at 9. You should have said, 8:30 or something so I would have arrived early." I said, "And took all the blame on me, it's not David's fault."

"I know. David never ever comes in late. He never disappoints me when it comes to time management, ever heard of it? Because you need it." He said.

Oh hell, he is so pissed.

I didn't even bother talking back because. I just look down and held my bag tightly. "You should have wake me up."

"I did." He snapped, "You're dead as a rock, You won't even budge." He looked at me up and down.

"Spray me water then?" I recommended.

"I don't want to pay another sheet for a hotel room."

I raised my eyebrows and said, "Isn't that free though?"

He clicked his tongue and said, "Let's go. We're late."
