Kane had trouble breathing through his nose. He didn't have room to stretch his legs. His hands were cuffed behind him. He could see and hear nothing. There was nothing to keep him comfortable or entertained. For 5 months they kept him in those conditions, only letting him out to use the bathroom once in a while.
And yet, he held on with no problem.
Why?
The handcuffs had reached their capacity a few weeks ago, Kane was now full of mana.
He could easily make the time pass quickly by altering his very mind, and with such a fortified body, being stuck in a cramped position for weeks was nothing.
Kane didn't feel sad about his dad dying, or worried about Cassandra.
Mana could be used to forcefully dull his emotions. And while that had been a helpful crutch until now, he overdid it this time.
He couldn't help but think keeping out all emotion was pretty nice. That was probably just because the alternative was too painful.
Kane would just bide his time. He could hear the guards discussing his release tomorrow. Kane was about to go to trial.
Thankfully, the guards who were supposed to bring him over didn't realize his mouth was covered in something nearly impossible to take off.
When it was ripped off with no injury to Kane's face, not a single eye was batted.
------------------
An old man stood at the podium, speaking a bunch of nonsense about Rick and the District Commanders.
Kane was so sick of wasting all his time. All he could do was give the man a smile, and teleport away.
He broke off his handcuffs and immediately made his way into the sky.
Kane scanned out the location of the base he was being held in and forced his way through.
He wanted to go see Cassandra first, but meeting her would be impossible without overthrowing the entire military first.
If they got her because she was close to him, it was already too late. If they didn't because she wasn't quite close enough, then going out to see her would just put a target on her back that didn't exist before.
They could always use her to threaten him though. Kane was at a dead end.
Such thoughts were running through his head as he tore through regular soldiers, Manalites, and concrete walls alike.
Finally, Kane found what he was looking for, a map of the world.
Such a thing was forbidden from the public, and kept in a room even Kane wasn't allowed to access.
The first thing he noticed was the direction he had flown out from previously was West, while the continent was much closer east.
Examining the map closely, he noticed a small island out in what he remembered to be his flight path.
He couldn't help but nod his head and laugh.
"Those fuckers really got me good. My dad's dead because I'm an idiot. If I hadn't hidden my strength they wouldn't have overestimated those cuffs, and I'd be screwed."
Kane made his way over to the real Treychla to meet with his allies.
