The Underground Market

The building Silver entered was indeed decrepit. Most of the tiles were broken and the paint was peeling off the walls. The building even had it's own musty smell. It was truly an old building.

Silver followed the crowd, most of which wore dark clothes and had some sort of mask or face covering. The wealthier people wore veils that obscured their faces. The crowd continued downwards, towards an amphitheater area deep underground. As Silver suspected, the auction was live. Silver never cared for how much money she had, but she decided to check. She currently had 38 gold and 66 silver. She only spent around two silver for the throwing knives and trinkets in the market earlier. Silver lamented the fact that she didn't have more. She knew things would cost a lot more here.

Silver sat down towards the back of the amphitheater. Most of the front row spots were already taken. She only had to wait for around half an hour before the place was almost full. Sitting next to her was a small framed person. It was difficult to tell if it was male or female. Silver ignored them after glancing at them once. Once everyone was seated, they closed the door and the stage lit up. A gentleman in a full tuxedo announced himself.

"Greetings! I am Angrem, and I'll be the host for our auction. Some of you might have heard what we've brought before you today, but if you haven't. Well, you're in for a real treat. Without further ado, Let's bring out the first item!"

A cart was wheeled out by a voluptuous girl wearing a skimpy dress. The item on the cart was a one handed longsword. It glowed with a holy light, annoying the hell out of Silver. It's light seemed to infuriate her. She avoided looking at it altogether. Angrem continued:

"This is the holy sword Akra. Created by a famous blacksmith for a custom order. It was blessed by it's wielder, who worshipped the God of Craft! Yes folks, it was blessed by Oldir! We'll start the bid at 20 Gold!"

Despite Angrem saying it was blessed by the God, it wasn't. It was, in fact, blessed by it's wielder, a minor champion of Oldir. It's power was far less than he stated, but people still bid on it, rising the price to an astronomical 45 Gold. Angrem smirked as it was sold, he totally ripped the crowd off. Most people would kill him for this kind of lie, but the backer of this auction was no joke.

Silver didn't pay attention to the item much. In fact, she probably couldn't have even bought it if she wanted, it was already annoying her just being this close. When it was finally wheeled away, Silver looked back towards the stage in anticipation, she was hoping to find something interesting.

Angrem continued. "Our second Item of the night, we have a skill tome! This skill is known as Hell's Rain! A fire element skill, exclusive to mages! It summons down a rain of fireballs to destroy any who oppose you! We'll start the bid at 15 Gold!"

Silver chuckled a bit. Angrem was obviously ripping these people off. He made it seem like a master tier skill, but it was maybe an advanced tier skill, which is a far cry from master. Silver did not bother bidding.

The next few items to come out were rare materials. Obsidian, Golden Grass, and other rare crafting materials were brought out, and eventually sold. Silver didn't care much about those, but when she heard the next announcement, she frowned to herself.

"We have a special item next! As part one of our closing items! Let me introduce a slave! Not just any slave, no! It's an Elf!"

A large cage was wheeled out, and a tall Blond Elven Man was inside. Silver frowned and tried to ignore it. Slavery was illegal in the country of Larun. Silver herself didn't like slavery. Taking away freedom, and locking people away to do God knows what had always rubbed her the wrong way. Nonetheless, she could not free him without suffering for it, and she knew that.

The Elven Man had eventually sold for around 30 Gold pieces. The man himself said nothing the whole time, and did not move a single inch.

Angrem yelled out to everyone. "Alright! This is the final item. None of us are actually sure what this is, but let's see who's willing to Buy it! We'll start the bidding at 5 gold!

It was obvious that Angrem and his team could not identify the item whatsoever. They thought about keeping it, but it was as much as risk to keep it as it was to sell it.

Silver's curiosity peaked. She looked towards the stage. All she saw was a small pitch black rock. She had a feeling that she would not regret buying it. Before Silver had realized it, the price rose to ten gold, then 15. Silver bid 16 gold, and someone rose it to 17. This back and forth went on, before Silver got impatient around the 21 gold mark. She hastily called out: "25 Gold!"

Everyone went silent, no one was willing to spend that much on a potential rock.

"Going once, Going Twice. Sold! For 25 gold to the person in the back!" After that finished, a token had appeared in her hand. She surmised that it would be exchanged for her item and twenty five gold.

.....

After the auction, Silver was led to a separate room. A man sat down. The exchange was very brief. Silver handed over the money and token, took the black rock, and left. The first thing she tried to do was put it in her inventory.

"Action is impossible. This Item is alive, and cannot be stored."

Silver decided to head back to her Inn before thinking about this further. Along the way, She had expected to be attacked for her "rock", but no one must have been that keen on it. She had no issues whatsoever getting back to the inn.

When Silver entered her room, she sat down on the bed and held the stone in her hand. Looking at it curiously, she thought to herself. 'The system said the item was alive? So what is it? Some form of Egg? but what creature would an egg this small contain? Forget it. It doesn't matter. I'll just head to sleep for now. I'll deal with it when it comes to that.' After she finished thinking, Silver tried her best to hide the 'egg'. She couldn't think of any amazing ideas, so she put it under the bed, and covered it with some of her clothes, trying to make it look inconspicuous. After that was done, Silver laid down and went to sleep.

Silver woke up to a kitten sized two headed dragon laying on her chest. She stared at it blankly, apparently stunned. The creature made a little "chirp" as it stretched itself. It had just started to wake up.
