A Mother and Her Daughter

Silver didn't "have" to power-level her daughter, but she greatly wanted to. The party system showed Luna at a measly level of 5.

They were preparing to exit the city when she noticed the level difference. Her footsteps stopped, and she turned to her daughter. "How did you get in here? You're supposed to be level 15 before you're even allowed access."

Luna looked a bit embarrassed. "I..uh...charmed a guard to let me in."

Silver's reaction was to laugh. "That easy, huh? Well, we'll meet a friend and get you a pass."

The two of them continued their walk, exiting the capital city, Starhelm, and venturing toward the city of Jinhei.

.....

"Have you done it, Sophie?" Arthur, the man in gilded medieval armor spoke. He was once again at the head of the round table, somewhere he expected to be sitting forever.

Sophie smiled. "It has been done. Lauren Solivar's consciousness has been uploaded to MRA. The integration was seamless."

Arthur nodded. "Good. Have Fal dispose of her body. We don't want her to make an unexpected return. Make sure it is cremated. Sophie, prepare countermeasures to placate her for some time."

Sophie smiled. "It's already been done, sir. I have uploaded one of her daughters. We collected her vampiric core for data analysis. The consciousness itself wasn't being used. She was uploaded a day before Solivar was."

Arthur raised an eyebrow. Sophie wasn't usually this good. Her "experiments" would often leave behind messes. He nodded. "Good work. Does anyone else have any thoughts?"

Silvia and Gawain were surprisingly silent, and Arthur took that as acceptance.

.....

Silver stood in front of a larger dungeon. This one was supposedly a three-man dungeon encounter. The recommended level was around 10-12. Luna stood by her side, but she seemed hesitant.

Silver spoke. "Don't worry, I'm very strong. You needn't worry."

Luna didn't say anything, she just nodded. Hesitation and anxiety were still written across her face.

Silver decided to check her status. It looked something like this:

She placed six points into vitality, and six points into defense. Those were her dump stats, but she still didn't want to entirely neglect them. She knew that it probably wasn't the best move, but she liked seeing the very nearly even numbers.

'There, they're rounded out pretty nicely now' She thought.

Luna saw her fiddling and sidled closer to secretly peek at her system window, but she didn't get to see anything. Silver had noticed her immediately.

She quickly began admonishing her. "Luna. You can't look at other people's system windows. It's a very rude thing to do."

Luna harumphed. "I know. I was just really curious!"

Silver chuckled. "Alright, let's go in."

She walked forward, but a system notification went off with a *DING*. She opened her menu to find a notification:

*DING* "Party Leader's level is much higher than the party member(s). Would you like to decrease your level to match them? WARNING: Declining will forfeit your own XP gains and funnel them to your party member(s).

She quickly declined and strode forward. Luna followed closely behind.

Luna spoke. "So, uhm. What dungeon are we entering..?"

Silver looked at her daughter. "Mmm...It's called Garo Forest. Supposedly it's all orcs and goblins." She paused. "You said your class was 'Dark Priest'? What're your skills and how does it work exactly?"

"Oh..uhm. I have a healing skill that uses my HP and a drain debuff that lets me steal enemy HP when my allies attack." Luna flashed a genuine smile.

Silver nodded and ruffled her hair. "Well, let's get going. I hope this turns out fun." She chuckled and head into the dungeon entrance.

.....

Of course, a few groups were hanging around the entrance. The dungeon had already been cleared before, so there was no reason to wait. They were likely just resting before heading inside.

The area around the entrance and graveyard was akin to a makeshift vagrant camp. There were some players around looking for party members, some of them were offering gold in exchange for hard carries. Hell, some of the players were even selling items.

Silver and Luna had caught a lot of attention. Silver herself wasn't aware of all the commotion she caused. People, specifically Gore Inc, had recorded some of her fights and made them into promotional videos. Her fame in the real world was steadily growing. She knew that she was becoming somewhat famous, but wasn't fully aware of the extent yet.

She and Luna walked through the camp, catching a lot of eyes and quieting most of them down. No one dared to approach. They knew of her temperament and tendency towards violence. The one thought on everyone's mind was: 'Who's the girl with her?'

Silver placed her hand on the dungeon entrance symbol and was teleported away.

.....

The two of them glanced at their surroundings, and Silver kicked the scythe off her back. Luna gripped her simple black and red staff even tighter. She killed some monsters before, but she hadn't experienced a dungeon yet. Her emotions were running high.

Silver pat her on the head and smiled warmly. "Don't worry. I'm here now. There's no need to be afraid."
