Portals, Portals Everywhere

August 31, 2019.

In a certain international space observatory, people were currently going crazy.

"James, did you see what I just saw?"

2 people in astronaut suit could be seen, talking to each other using radios and they had a tacit understanding of what to do. They wouldn't be heard otherwise because of the effects of space.

"Quickly communicate the mission control center, report to the ground team everything, other space observatories like us are probably scrambling to report this as well."

With baited breath, James contacted the ground team and waited for the response. He only hope that the delay of communication would be shorter by even a millisecond, what happened next might affect the survival of the human race after all.

After a few seconds, they were given their response and sighed in acceptance. Their ground team and other places are already undergoing meetings regarding the phenomenon.

As for their lives, they weren't quite sure if they could come back down to earth with it.

-----------------------

"Thrumpy Dumpty, are you telling us to shut up about this situation? Do you not think that our incapability to address the situation will cause people to riot?"

"Even if we do declare a global state of emergency, what even can we do? All that will cause is even more unrest. Rather, we don't even know if that "phenomenon" is dangerous or not."

"We don't know? Isn't it quite obvious that things can only either be dangerous or extremely dangerous."

"I believe it's better if we mobilize our military forces. If any questions prop up, it's better for rumors of a new world war happening to emerge. We just need to not confirm anything, the unrest will be minimal that way."

At this moment, silence ensued the virtual conference. The governments and monarchies have came to a conclusion and the leaders left with some unsureness in their faces.

The prime ministers, and presidents, and queens, and despots held meeting with their advisers and officials as they discussed amongst themselves about what to do.

-----------------------

The starry night was covered by clouds as people continued to busy themselves in New York. Stores began to close as the time was approaching 10pm.

It was about time for those who lived the nightlife and those who didn't to switch places. People were on their way back home as they were tired from work.

The sun sung high in Beijing. It's scorching heat didn't do anything in stopping in stopping people from going on with their lives.

Those who planned to work, worked. Those who planned to studied, studied. Those who planned to play around, played around.

It was just like any other day, the traffic congestion was reaching it's peak and it was a prime time for road rage to occur.

Something that was similar between these places however, was that people continued to talk about the chances of a World War III.

Although they were till rumors and no actual confirmation was given to the press, it was said that conflict started to arise among different countries as they sought to quickly mobilize their military forces.

There were other rumors as well that aliens were gonna invade the earth or that a noodly spaghetti God was descending from heaven and that the governments felt threatened.

Though nobody really took them seriously except for those avid believers and fanatics.

In one of the top floors of a high-risehotel room of a certain 5 star hotel in New York, a man and woman were talking to each other as they looked out the window.

"So Clara, what do you think about New York? I told you it was a good idea to spend our money here. Let's head there to the Statue of Liberty tomorrow."

Pointing at the tall statue with his index finger as he was holding a glass of wine, the man used his other hand to wrap around the woman's waist as she laid her head on his shoulder with a loving expression.

Haha what an easy score! I'll be sure to taste her properly later.

Lovingly looking at the woman, he kissed her left cheek while expecting her to be flustered. She didn't have any reaction however as it looked like she was distracted by something else.

Tracing where her eyes were looking at, the man was surprised and couldn't believe his eyes as he almost dropped his glass of wine. Some wine spilled on his expensive clothes but he couldn't be bothered to nitpick at it.

Outside, he could see a crack quickly appear in the middle of the air as it looked to suck up it's surroundings.

The crack took shape and formed into a red disc-like object that screamed danger as it continued to enlarge until it's height was as tall as the statue of liberty that used to be there.

"A b-bl-black hole? No, no, there's a reason why it's called a black hole to begin with. Even my brain can tell that that thing is completely red."

The man couldn't help but gasp, and this time he couldn't stop himself from letting go of the wine glass.

This same situation occurred across the world. disc-like objects of different sizes started to appear as it occupied different historical and tourist spots.

In a kid's bedroom, 2 figures were looking at the window. One of them with an astronaut suit looked at the other figure with a cowboy suit as he said, "See woody, portals, portals everywhere." (1)

At the sidewalks of a busy street, a ragged-looking man sat on the ground. He crazily laughed as he screamed with conviction towards the passerby, "I knew that the cake wasn't a lie!"(2)

Videos started to circulate around the internet, and for once the whole world was awake as even those who were asleep were woken up by their relatives and other people.

A global state of emergency was issued as leaders from around the world made their own statements regarding the situation. Military forces were on the move, as they were on the way to surround the different portals that appeared out of nowhere.

Other than the initial casualties and damage caused by the portals sucking up it's surroundings, nothing seemed to happen however.

In a street of Beijing, a young man on the other hand narrowed his eyes as he dropped the boba tea that was on his left hand when he saw the portals that were starting to enlarge in the distance.

"This is????"

1- toy story, obviously

2- Portal, obviously
