Behind The Door

Thud.

"This is???"

With a thud, his boba tea fell on the ground. A few dozen meters away in front of Chen Heng, a crack appeared in the air, or more appropriately called the void.

"Hey, get out of there and come here quickly!"

He saw a boy just a few meters apart from the crack .His backs were facing the crack so Chen Heng waved at the teen and shouted for him to run before running away. Wearing casual clothes and headphones, the teen was staring at his phone.

Not hearing Chen Heng's words, he was slightly startled and confused seeing someone wave at him. He didn't bother too much however as he continued to walk slowly while scrolling at his phone.

He was probably waving someone behind me anyway!

It ended up being the cause of his death however as the cracks rapidly grew, enveloping the boy as well. When the cracks reached him, he stopped abruptly as the cracks continued to expand until it formed a disc-like shape in the air.

Its ends was 20 meters with the origin of the crack being the center.

Once the cracks stopped expanding, it started to form more like webs as more miniature and refined cracks appeared in that radius.

After a few seconds everything inside that radius compressed, including the boy. All that was left was a gray colored disc, the boy and everything else was a gone. Hell, even the ground wasn't spared as a crater formed.

Everything that was outside was unaffected however, as if what happened was a dream.

Chen Heng wasn't the only one in the vicinity, others also tried to call out to the boy and others kept their distance from the cracks.

Seeing this scene, the people ran for their lives after seeing someone die in front of them in such a strange way. Chen Heng on the other hand was kneeling on one knee, not budging.

It wasn't that he was scared witless that his brain and feet couldn't even function but that several memories that were supposed to be blurred became clearer. Faced with the amount of information resurfacing in his mind, Chen Heng couldn't help but feel dizzy.

Standing up and moving away from the scene like the others, Chen Heng headed straight back to his apartment. He hoped that none of those things ended up appearing there.

On his way, he saw numerous people panicking and running. Chen Heng even saw 2 cars on the road that get into an accident, luckily no one was hurt.

Some were on their way to the supermarket and other stores to buy food while prices haven't been affected yet. Others were calling their family and all their friends.

Chen Heng even saw a few more of those discs.

After 10 minutes of walking, Chen Heng finally arrived in front of the apartment building and heaved a sigh of relief.

'It seems like I'll still have a roof to stay under for today.'

Finding his way to his room, Chen Heng didn't see anyone else as he quickly entered and locked his room. With a thump he fell face flat on the bed with an incredibly tired expression.

He already had some grasp regarding the matter of those discs and knew that nothing crazy would happen again anytime soon.

Calling his parents to see if they're fine, Chen Heng was relieved to know that everything was ok. Telling them to stay safe once again, he hang up the call. After setting an alarm for 2 hours from now, Chen Heng went to sleep.

......

"See look at all of these things inside the room, and not a trace of any ancient beasts in it."

"There's nothing to be afraid of with our lineup anyway"

Looking at his team members, Chen Heng smiled as his eyes started to shine. Other than the ominous looking porcelain bottle in the middle of the room, the inside was more or less occupied by different mythical-grade spirit herbs.

Those were things that even those at the peak of this realm would scramble about just to get a sniff of.

With excited expressions, they looted the place and placed the herbs inside the storage spaces of their transportation beasts. Although this realm didn't have any storage rings, it was possible to achieve the same effect by using several means and beasts.

Of course although they were all incredibly greedy, nobody messed with the porcelain bottle on the ground in the middle of the room. Even a kid could tell that it was something not to be messed with.

Sadly, it seemed like one of their team members scored a number that only required 2 hands to count in an IQ test. The team member not only picked up the porcelain bottle but also opened the lid, while trying to sniff for any pill or herb fragrance.

That choice was what caused for everyone but Chen Heng to most likely die in the end.

After opening the lid, dense black smoke poured out of the bubble until it encompassed at least a few kilometers. The smoke then took the form and shape of a shadowy huge dragon.

With a smile, the dragon restrained everyones' bodies and limbs.

"Otn isth neo."

"Peno otn ouy ereith."

"Otn enev seclo."

Stopping one by one in front of everyone, the dragon would stare at each person for a good minute before saying the same thing and then snapping their already restrained bodies and limbs.

Using an illusory hand, it would pass through the person's body and take out their heart before thoroughly crushing it.

Chen Heng was the last person at the right, and the dragon started inspecting people from the left. Slowly but surely, his turn got closer as more team members that he knew for quite some time ended up dying.

After it was finally his turn, Chen Heng was already ready to accept his death as he closed his eyes.

"Ah, I lyfinal ndfou het gnki."

Even though Chen Heng couldn't quite understand what it was saying, he noticed that it's tone was quite different from back then and that the words were different from the ones it said last time.

Seeing as he wasn't dead yet, Chen Heng decided to man up and open his eyes.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

"Mmmmmm...."

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Picking up his phone and getting out of bed, Chen Heng stopped the alarm while still feeling slightly drowsy. Getting his laptop sleeve, he took out his laptop and placed it on his study table as he turned it on.

Looking at the old 2014 model, Chen Heng knew that it would take some time before the laptop would start up. Sitting down on a blue stool, he went into deep thought.

By now the information in his mind had more or settled down.
