She knocked before opening the door.
"Marido?" She closed the door and walked to her usual seat and positioned the torch to its place.
She wasn't carrying any book as of now so she looked somewhere in the darkness to make a request.
"Can you read me a book, querido?" Her eyes were sparkling while clasping her fingers.
"I want to hear you read once again, can I?" Now she made an ear to ear smile and then she heard a 'tsk' from him.
"por favor?"
She heard another click of tongue.
"Love Before Duty: The Story of Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson"
She clapped her hands and giggled her shoulders after hearing him speak. His voice was clearly annoyed but still, he read for her.
"You're unbelievable, woman." She heard from the darkness and she could imagine his face palming, and it made her smile widened.
"Come on, querido. Tell me the story of King Edward VIII." She requested and now giggling her toes.
Deep in the darkness, shaking his head, he turned to the first page of the book to read for her. He looked at her beaming beautiful face before looking at the words in the books he was holding.
"When Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, it was the biggest constitutional crisis for the crown in the 20th century. His obsession with the divorced American actress set him on a collision course with the government, his brother and the wider British public."
He continued reading one page to another. He would look at her after a sentence and then look at the words. He would sometimes elaborate to her some minor details that weren’t clearly explained in the book. From minute to 40 minutes, he stopped reading and watched this yawning woman in her seat.
"Bed." He spoke.
She looked at him innocently, with no idea what he meant.
"Lay in my bed."
There he saw her eyes widening and cheeks started flushing. She can't hide it and he can spot it in one second.
"I... I'm not s-sleepy. Go. Go on! I just look sleepy. I'm listenin-
"Lay in my bed."
She stood dumb and found herself doing what he said. Her heart was going crazy and couldn't think properly just imagining herself lying in his bed. She saw a small fire growing in the left side of his large room and she saw his legs walking away in a second, again.
It wasn't like the first time she saw it, he was wearing black pants. His bed slowly becomes visible in her eyes. She couldn't see it all but she knows it's wide, it's a King sized bed covered with thick champagne manta, and the golden carats in its coffee headboard is a bit sparkling from the light. His bed is pretty clean and smooth in the eyes. And she was there standing like a statue unable to move her feet. Is she really going to... lay there?
"Go."
She was startled by his command and started walking to the bed. The view of carats is getting clear in her eyes, making her more nervous about the fact that 1 carat there will be worth a lot. If there is only a thief who can raid his room, the thief will surely be wealthy in a snap. She just stood on the bed side looking somewhere in the dark right side where he could be staying.
"I... I can't.."
She couldn't compose her words. This was like the feeling when she first came into her room. And just imagining herself lying in his bed...
Her cheeks flushed. What would happen? Will they sleep together? If not, where will he sleep?
"Lay."
She woke up from his other command and forced herself to lift up his champagne manta and touch her right knee to his malleable bed and slowly climb her left knee and crawl near the pillow and covered half of her body while sitting.
"Is... Is this right?" She mumbled worried and couldn't control her toes from smashing each other.
"Sí. You are mí marida." [Yes, you are my wife.]
She bit her lips feeling her cheeks burning, twirling her toes and gripping the manta tight. This is her first time to hear his voice in a close distance and she can say he was just in her dark right side.
"Am I going to sleep here?"
He hummed, making her stomach twitch and heart pounding.
"Together?" She asks one more to make sure if they are really going to sleep together.
Honestly, she is nervous just by thinking about it and she could clearly remember what he said on her first day in the castle.
I am in my bed desiring to touch you all over and make you scream all 15 days.
15 days. She will die.
There was a deafening silence. It was long, which is unusual. Did she say something wrong? Did she upset him?
"I can't touch you."
She frowned in confusion before slowly realizing what he meant, making her eyes wide.
"Stay there, you won't disappear."
So he was maintaining the distance to protect her? Damn, how foolish she is to forget that... he is...
She looked somewhere in the darkness. She wanted to speak but thought about him getting the wrong idea. He is a descendant of... the King of the Demons. He is... el demonio maldito.
And he had been alone in the darkness since he was born. He cannot see the sunlight... and he doesn't want anyone to see his appearance...
Come to think of it, she saw it, she saw his arm and leg. And she couldn't imagine how he would look just by seeing his hairy skin and long nails.
"querida."
She was startled by his call and reddened because of how he addressed an endearment.
"Lay. I will read the book."
She was silenced for a second hoping she could see him, wishing she could hug him, and dreaming she could make him feel better.
After looking somewhere she suspects he could be sitting, she withdraws herself in the bed and covers her body with the manta. Looking straight at the ceiling, she started to feel warmth in his bed and his smell... She knows that this is his smell, a perfect perfume to smell for everyday life.
She silently sniffed the manta trying not to get noticed then she felt the reddening of her face and burning of her body. Her hypothalamus is telling her to sniff more... more... and more...
"You like it that much?"
She stiffened, butterflies fighting in her stomach.
A small shit for getting caught.
"s-sí.", She mumbled as low as possible wishing he couldn't hear it but she heard him chuckled, sending the burn on her face down her body. She bit her lips and silently listened to his chuckle that had been making her ears attentive.
He started reading and it's a miracle, she's attentive because she was also curious about how King Edward VIII chose Wallis over his throne. While he is reading and she is attentively listening, after 30 minutes, her eyes give up and then she falls asleep.
THE next morning, she got awakened by a ray of light in the sun. She felt so comfortable and so good to stay in bed. The pillow, the manta, and the bed smell so goo-- gaping, she opened her eyes and got up to see a very unfamiliar room.
The curtains were open, sending sunlight to the room. The chandeliers were open and the room was so huge, twice as wide as her room. She covered her mouth to stop dropping her jaw after realizing who's room she is in. She directly looked for his sign and he wasn't there. A flash of memory came into her mind making her panic, nervous and worried.
He cannot see the sunlight.
She has no time to admire the whole room as she gets out of bed, wears her slippers, and runs to the curtains to close it.
"Marido?" She looked around the dark, panting and breathing heavily. Her eyes is about to tear up while hoping to hear his voice.
"Marido? Querido? Where are you?" She started to sob.
"I'm sorry." She bent down on her knees, sat on the floor, and hugged herself.
"Where are you...” She sniffed, pouring down all the tears she had. There is no way he disappeared right? There is no way he's gonna leave her right? No, no, he can't just disappear! If he wants to disappear, might as well he just kill her!
Upon her momentum of remorse, she stopped as she heard the clicking of the door making her stand hoping it was him.
"Milady."
She stormed to Gael and gripped his shirt.
"Where is the King?" She asked, wanting a direct answer.
Confused, Gael examined her face before speaking.
"My King was downstairs, milady." He was looking at her misty beautiful eyes but saw the remorse changed into... ease as he answered what she asked. She almost fell down after feeling at ease and Gael caught her.
"Milady? I will call a doctor-
"I'm fine. He is fine." She stood properly, inhaled and exhaled.
She takes a look at the whole room with only the same two chandler lights and Beil Molten Lava lights on her room. The same materials with her room, he had a huge wardrobe with his wine collections in the left side. There were two Pulman 003 on its both sides, probably to have a clearer vision of his wine. Beside the wardrobe, there are two doors, one is a bathroom and the other one is maybe a walk-in closet.
Her eyes got stuck in the huge king-sized bed with a breech wood headboard designed with carats. The bed will be proof enough that the King is tall. She looked at the right side near the windows where a cross-feet breech wood thin table paired with the same material-chair is located. She is sure that this is where the King is sitting when he is reading her a book.
Beside where she is standing, this is where the huge bookshelf is located, with another two Pulman 003 at its sides and then the mini sofa, where she usually sits. They are tender with a malleable cushion made up of gold material.
His room's main color is champagne, then coffee for the main furniture materials which is the breech wood and the curtains, and lastly, carats and gold. It is now clear that he doesn't like too much color.
She sighed and started walking to the bed to fix it, making Gael panic.
"Milady-
He was supposed to stop her but when he saw the sign in her hands, she raised it. And it means stop.
He sighed knowing what will happen next. Since his milady is serious, he cannot stop her.
Looks like I will lose limbs.
