"If what?" Erik said from the doorway.
She got up in a blue and he just stood there staring at her.
"Umm...I'm gonna go now." She ducked out of the room fast.
"If I could get out of this room for a bit? It's stuffy in here and I swear I won't do anything stupid." I looked at him trying to be my strong normal self.
"No" he said all too fast. He walked to the dresser and went through his clothes. I stood up and took a few steps toward him.
"Please Erik. Let me out of this room to move around so I don't crumple up and get weak." I beg.
"No. You can move around in here, stretch, exercise or whatever. There's plenty of room. In here. Strictly." He was trying to scare me. I was tired, no I was exhausted and done with his attitude, so I snapped.
"Excuse me. I'm here for you to protect me, right? I agreed to cooperate with you because I don't want to die. The least you could do is let me move around somewhere besides this room." I stood my ground and locked my gaze to his.
"And as your protector, you need guidelines." He glared back.
"So give them but beyond this room" I said. Being exhausted I did the one thing I normally don't do when I'm arguing, I broke down. Tears started to run down my face and I lowered my head to hide them. This caught his attention and he was lost.
"Oh don't do that. Women do that to weasel out of things." He rolled his eyes.
"I'm not weaseling out of things! I am exhausted! In case you don't remember what you pulled me away from last night! It was the most traumatic thing I've ever been through!" I yelled and got in his face. He was surprised for a split second and then he snapped back to himself.
"Why are you exhausted? You should have slept. I do remember! I was this close to ripping their throats out for what they did to you!" He said sternly. I let his words sink in for a second and I was shocked. He cared but was all rude and bossy. Now I'm thoroughly confused.
"What is your problem? You're a complete jerk one minute and then trying to be nice the next." I asked in a soft voice.
"It's none of your business." He looked away.
Suddenly I felt light headed and dizzy, I stepped back trying to balance myself. But my knees have out and Erik caught me. I blinked a few times trying to force away the fuzz when I looked up his face was inches away from mine. His eyes locked on mine, I couldn't look away. He stood me up while not breaking that gaze and for a moment just stood there. Then he sat me on the bed and stepped away.
"Be careful" he snapped with a glare.
"Sorry, I told you I was exhausted, I guess it got the better of me." I looked down and closed my eyes for a second.
"Eat something"
"I'm not hungry. Is this your room?" Switching subjects quickly to get his attention off me. I was nervous and kind of scared but I wasn't going to let him know that.
"Yes it is but doe now you will stay here." He replied.
"Where will you sleep?" I looked at him with curiosity.
"In the guest bedroom downstairs. I am getting some clean clothes first." He grabbed some more clothes.
"Why did you save me?" I almost whispered.
That made him stop and for a minute he was still. Then he closed the drawer and looked at me.
"Does it matter?" He said harshly and walked out of the room.
