Chapter 28: past tense

Whilst walking back home from the store I was greeted by the company of strangeness, the breeze grew cold and the hairs on my arms stood up like thorns. My mouth had turned completely dry like a oasis in ruins, a primitive instinct was now gnawing at my consciousness like a beast released from it's shackles of time. Panic began to settle within me and a tempest of alien emotions drowned out my thoughts, I couldn't think clearly. my mind was consumed by a strange mist that had descended, chaos seamed to be the only existence clear within me. Life felt meaningless, like time had become still and the universe had become nothing but a lifeless mass of matter while death smiled from a distance.

*Ring, Ring*

My mind began to settle back into my reality as everything started regain meaning and purpose, silence finally began to take root within my being. As I began to look at the number on the phone I saw something odd, a number I had never seen before was now pulling the silence out of me and weeding out all rational thinking. Although I had never seen this number before my subconscious recognized it with a burning passion of hatred and despair, as I picked up the call I heard a new voice that brought words of misfortune with his husky tone.

Words were like daggers digging their way into my heart, the animal finally broke free from it's cage. Fear had taken over and he was a wreck, all logic failed and inside the medium sized car my life was but a mere shield to for very few to use. As I got to the Hell I had dreaded for years and hoped I would never have to see or hear of for years until I was nearing my end. Over by the centre of the small room I ran hoping not to see the two names I knew as well as my own, alas they were there in sharp black biro 'Scarlet Davids' and 'Mia Meadows'.

Instinct ran through my blood and he made my blood boil, every blood vessel and every muscle screamed for salvation of movement... but none came. The tower that had stood tall since the beginning had finally fallen into the abyss called guilt. Blame: Sorrow, guilt... all watching. Fate was a cruel mistress at that moment, my legs became a burden to my body.

As I pulled myself together like a magnetic doll, all time and space felt endless and vague. Everything I knew crumbled apart as if it was shortbread, all broken apart by a drunken reality. A single man could stand at the top of a mountain but would eventually fall by choice or force in the end. Every story has a beginning and an end but there is always the chance for your story to be continued in a sequel, your story will always cross with another. But even then your story will always do what every other does... end.
