Chapter 18

Detective Choi looks stunned. He sits motionless for a few seconds and then looks around the room at the 9 faces all eagerly waiting to hear his thoughts. "Do you seriously expect me to consider this?" He shakes his head and a little chuckle of disbelief leaves his mouth. "There is no way that this would work. These women are not going to come back if you leave, they are punishing all of you because they feel unloved. With all due respect Aimee, you going still doesn't get rid of Lori, and do you not think that they would expect to be arrested as soon as they come back? They know full well now that there is no chance for them with Yoongi and Namjoon after doing this. Why do you think they have hidden themselves so well?"

Hearing his viewpoint on this idea has made me realise just how ludicrous it was, how Lori and I am so desperate for our babies back that we really have lost it, coming up with far fetched plans and what is worse is that we have managed to get 7 sane men to think it was a good idea too.

"What else are we supposed to do then?" I implore of him. "It's been days now that they have been gone, and you are no closer to finding them! You have no new leads, no credible sightings and even Ahnjong's ex husbands intel didn't pan out. I need my baby back Detective Choi, and I am willing to try anything even the totally absurd in case it has a tiny chance of working".

He clears his throat, obviously stung by my words at his lack of progress. I didn't mean it to sound so personal, I know he has been covering every angle possible and putting all the resources available to him to work. These women are clearly clever and have managed to completely disappear. "I think it might be a good idea to do a press conference. Let's try to appeal to their humanity and their love for Yoongi and Namjoon. Lets make them see what they are doing to the men they apparently love. We can tell them that if they come forward and return the children that we will work out a better sentence for them than if they wait for us to find them, that could be just enough encouragement" he suggests.

"You mean a press conference with just Yoongi and Namjoon appearing?" I ask. He nods his head. "I don't think seeing either you or Lori on screen with them will help. I think it will work better if it's just the men that appear, perhaps the whole band." I can see his point. I look to Namjoon to see how he feels about it. He stands up and simply says "let's do this".

The following day it is all set up. Lori and I will stay at the house, all 7 of the boys will leave together and go to the Big Hit offices. Their management have arranged with KBS for a TV crew to come in and film a live interview with them, during this Yoongi and Namjoon will attempt to talk directly to Nari and Ahnjong and also ask for the help of every resident in South Korea in trying to locate their children and help bring them home safely. Detective Choi will be there in the background as a police presence and the rest of the band will be support and put across their feelings around the whole situation too if needed.

It comes to the time that they need to leave, all 7 of them have dressed well, smart trousers and shirts, and Yoongi has Yeong's favourite teddy bear with him, Namjoon has the first photo of him taken with Jangmi when she was born. Lori and I hug our husbands and wish them luck. "Don't forget, this isn't a usual BTS interview Joonie, you don't need to perform as RM, just be yourself and speak from the heart honestly. If that means you show vulnerability and emotion so be it" I say trying to be supportive but instantly feeling like I have just spoken to him like he is a little boy that needs coaching.

"It's ok Aimee, I know what you mean" he says to me clearly picking up the doubt I have had in my own words. He kisses me and pulls my hands up to his chest, his heart is thumping. He lets out a long slow breath like he is trying to calm his nerves. "I've got this" he says to himself like an affirmation. He turns and follows the rest of them out to the cars where they are quickly ushered in and driven off through the mass of photographers at the end of the drive.
