Chapter 23

We walk in to a large room, it has a table and 4 chairs in the centre and a 3 seater sofa at the rear. There are books and toys all along one wall and colourful artwork all over the adjacent. Above the sofa is a large window with wooden slatted blinds pulled down to keep the bright sunshine that billows in at bay. We have been escorted here by the desk sergeant, who advises the children are just being checked over by a doctor and as soon as they have finished they will come in here to us. Due to Jangmi's age there will be no further action needed with her, but Yeong will be spoken to by a psychiatrist who will try to eke out any pertinent information about the last 7 days and see if he can help them identify where the children have been held or if he knows anything about the women's plans now.

We wait for what seems like forever until both the children are brought in. Yeong runs to his parents happy to see them, desperate to tell them about his adventure. Clearly they have been well cared for. Yeong is clean and tidy, in well fitting clothes although they are not his own and looks as though he has been fed well.

Jangmi is so big, she has changed so much, but looks happy. She too is wearing clean clothes. "Is she ok?" I ask the doctor as he approaches me. "Absolutely fine, her weight is ideal and her tummy button is all healed". I hold my arms out to take my Daughter and I cannot describe the feeling I get. My emotions flood out of me and I want to squeeze her so hard, but obviously I don't. Her little face has changed, she has chubbier cheeks now, and her eyes look a darker brown than I remember.

Namjoon leans over and strokes her face, she still has a mass of black hair and she really does look like her Daddy. I put my hand up to his face and say "I can't tell you how happy I am we have her back. We can be a little family now". I lean forward and kiss her cheeks, then her forehead then her Little hands and realise I don't ever want to let her go again!

I know I have to let Joonie have a cuddle but letting her leave my arms after only just getting her back is tough. I pass her to him and decide to take a photo of them back together. Yeong is still telling Lori and Yoongi about everything he has done and it sounds like he had a great time. I'm so glad, I didn't want him to be traumatised by any of this, and it seems Ahnjong has made it like a little holiday for him. "We played games, and made a fort, we drew pictures and watched you sing Daddy" I over hear him say.

I look at Lori who is beaming at having her boy back and her and Yoongi are holding hands, looking at each other with total relief on their faces at how happy he is and how well cared for he has been. It's a very strange feeling to be mad at someone for taking your child but also thankful to them for keeping them safe. A total contradiction in emotions.

Yoongi and Lori ask if we can all leave and if they can bring Yeong back in a couple of days time, but they ask for them to stay so they can talk to him whilst it is all fresh in his mind. "You 2 go and take the car, we will get a taxi home when we are done here, it seems stupid for you to hang around. Finally take little miss home and get her settled" Lori says to me. I ask her if she is sure and she nods. I hug her, Yoongi and Yeong and tell them we will see them later, a sigh of relief leaves my mouth. The last 7 days has been torture, and now it's all over.
