I was so close to doing it.

Then I remembered the other Ruvelia. I shouldn't make rash decisions. That fraction in me called me a coward for that.

I looked at Derek's face, the injuries had clotted and the blood was dry. His face remained blotched with black and blue spots. It was because of them.

"They've been following us."

"They look drained," I scorned at them.

"They were probably brainwashed to do this. That's one of the Shrull's common tricks."

"Are they not going to stop until we're dead?"

"I guess so."

"You can't fight them off?"

"Do you really want to see me sonic booming into the ground again?"

I didn't respond to that, unimpressed. "Can you lose them?"

His tone changes, "I've been using up my energy all this time, Ruvelia."

"Why are you so calm about this?!"

"They can't kill us anyway."

"How are we getting out of this?"

"I don't know, should we jump off the cliff?"
