Chapter 8

We stepped into the breakfast place and god it was fancy. Matt approached the waiter and told him we had a reservation at 10. I was standing there in my boyish t-shirt and my old jeans staring at him like a total idiot. I mean, I knew there are reservations for dinner or maybe lunch reservations, but breakfast reservations, what the …!

The waiter showed us to our table and we sat down.

'You really should have told me, we're going to a fancy place like this. I've worn a dress or something. I feel like a dork lol.'

'I am sorry, but it was a surprise and you can't tell what the surprise is in the advance, that's the thing about surprises. Do you know what a surprise means, don't you? And besides, I think you look stunning in this t-shirt and the jeans. It's kind of bohemian.'

'Did I tell you that you are so sweet?'

'Maybe, but you can say it again, I like it.' He looked down at the table so I couldn't see how he flushed.

'You are sweet' I said again smiling at him…I was in love.

I ordered basic English breakfast and after that some strawberry pancakes.

'I see you have a good appetite. And yet you are so thin, what is your secret?' Matt ate just some bacon and eggs plus black tea with milk and then he was just watching me how I was eating. He wasn't a big eater, which was great, more food for me.

'I don't have a secret, I eat whatever I want whenever I want, no diets. I just do basic work out every day and I go jogging every second day. Except for Sundays. Sunday is a day for relaxation and good food. Haha.' I explained my workout routine with my mouth full of pancakes. Matt laughed and leaned over the table. He grabbed a tissue and wiped sugar away from my cheek. I turned red.

'You look cute red. You know that red is one of my favorite colors?' he was being very funny.

'You don't have to make fun of me, I saw how you flushed when I called you sweet. But really, you like red? So do I. And yellow and blue and green and … I basically like all the colors except purple. Purple has weird vibes.'

'I figured.' he smiled.

After I finished my food we stayed at the table and we were just talking about everything and anything. Then I looked at my phone and it was almost 11:30. Matt noticed I checked my phone and so he checked his as well.

'It's almost half-past eleven, we should probably get going.'

'Yes, probably.' He called the waiter over and paid, then we got up and left the place. The weather was beautiful and the world seemed completely fine. It was one of the best days of my entire life.

'I think I'll walk you home now. Do you want me to?' he was looking sad and I didn't even want to go home.

'No, I don't want you to walk me home.' I said confidently, even though I was feeling confident at all. I was afraid of his reaction. I didn't know what to expect. It was all so new to me.

'Oh,…'

'Because I don't want to go home. I want to spend this day with you.'

'Oh my god, thank goodness. I was afraid you didn't like me for a moment. And what do you want to do?' I saw the relief in his brown eyes. It made me a bit more sure.

'Well, I wasn't in London for quite some time so we could like do sightseeing. You know or just walk and talk and watch the world. Listen to the birds singing and enjoy life.'

'I love…this idea of yours, let's do it.'

'Okay, nice, you choose where we start.' my heart was so happy, but my mind was saying, 'Don't get too attached or he will hurt you and you will never love again.' At that moment I had to shut my mind off and let my heart be in charge.

'Hmmm, let me think, Buckingham palace is near. I say let's start there and then we will figure out the rest together.'

And so we went to Buckingham Palace. We arrived at the Victoria memorial in front of Buckingham Palace. There were tons of tourists there, it was kind of crowded actually. I don't mind crowds but at the same time, I don't like them a lot. I started to feel a bit anxious.

'Are you okay Lily? You haven't said anything for like five minutes, luckily it's not the embarrassing silence anymore, this is more like a comfortable silence, but I like talking to you.' I felt like I heard someone talking to me so I left my thoughts and turned to Matt. He was looking at me with expectation in his beautiful brownish eyes. I was sure he asked me something, but I wasn't listening I was too closed off in my own thoughts.

'Hmm, yes.' I said worried about what I was responding to.

'Good so you're okay, why you haven't spoken then?'

'Hmm, can we go somewhere else? I don't really fancy big crowds of people. I don't feel comfortable being here.'

'Oh, of course, you should have said that. I was worried I said something wrong.'

'You did the exact opposite, you do everything right.' He flushed and looked into my eyes.

'You know we only spent the morning together today and it's already the best day of my life.' I kissed him and then we continued.

Our next stop was Westminster Abbey. That is one of my favorite places in London. It is so enormous and magnificent. I won't lie to, but there were crowds as well. However, this time Matt knew I wasn't a big fan of tons of people in one place at the same time and so he put his arm around my waist to be closer to him and he kissed my forehead. Then he whispered to my ear.

'I've got you. There is nothing to worry about.' My heart melted entirely. I've only known him for let's say two days and I already couldn't imagine my life without him. How was it even possible. I've always known I fall in love quite easily, but this wasn't just love. I felt something I've never experienced in my life. It was much more than love. It was total dedication and admiration for one person.

He was holding me around my waist and we were just enjoying our presence while watching the commotion in front of the Abbey.

'Where do we want to go next?' I asked Matt.

'Wherever you'd like to go, my lady.' I liked how he called me, his lady, it was cute and so hot at the same time. Although he lived in London for three years back then, he still had a strong American accent, which made him even sexier. He sounded, I would say a bit exotic.

'I am thinking we could go and walk along the river. No more sightseeing.'

'Excellent plan, darling, let's go. Shall we?' This time he tried to do an English accent. I think it didn't go as well as he planned. We just both laughed it off and headed to Themes.

We came to the river. It was around three o'clock in the afternoon. The sun was still shining. We had a lucky day because in London it rains a lot, but not a single drop fell today. We didn't cross the bridge and we continued along the river, in the Hungerford bridge's direction. After a minute we stopped and sat down on a bench.

'I don't want to continue, I am hungry and tired. I am tired because I am hungry. I need food, a refill.' I desperately said to Matt and he started to laugh.

'What? You are hungry? Are you joking? What you ate for the breakfast would be enough for me for the entire day. Wait, you really are hungry, aren't you?'

'Yes, I really am.' I did my puppy eyes at him.

'Okay, okay. We need to get some food. What would you like?'

'Anything will do.'

'Hmm, we could go to Delfino's and get a pizza. At least you could meet my friends.'

'It's too far.'

'We can call a taxi, or I can carry you if you want me to.'

'Taxi will be fine. Okay, I want to meet your friends, but more I want the pizza.'

'Yes, I know.'

Matt hailed a taxi and we went to Delfino's. When we arrived in front of the building, Matt hopped out of the car, ran around it to the other side, and quickly opened the door for me. I got off the car and we entered the place.

'Hey mates, how is the work going today?'

'Oh hey, Matt, you little bastard. You rather spend your day with a girl than by working your ass off.'

I was shocked, is this how they're talking to each other. Are they even friends, I wondered. Matt noticed my confused expression.

'Oh, Lily, this is Adam, don't worry about him, he is just my idiot friend. Haha. And Adam I want to introduce you to my girlfriend, Lily Williams.' Did he say, girlfriend? Okay, I guess I'd call him my boyfriend as well.

'Nice to meet you, Lily. No wonder you like Matt, he is such a nice guy. If I was a girl, I'd marry him.'

'Oh Adam, stop it, you are making me flush.' Then they laughed and it sounded like two elephants trumpeting or whatever sound the elephant does. They were grunting and I could die because it was too funny.

Then another guy came from the kitchen. It was the boy that was here yesterday when I came to pick up Matt.

'And this is Zack, you two already met so I don't have to introduce you. Good, now Adam can you make a pizza for us?'

'Sure, which one?'

'Make my favorite.' Matt winked at Adam. I didn't know what it meant. It confused me.

'Sure thing, bro.'

We waited for like 10 minutes and then Adam gave us our pizza. Matt handed him the money, but he didn't accept it.

'Today, it's on me. Bon appetite.' He said winking at Matt. Again, the level of my confusion increased, but I was hungry and I finally had the pizza so I didn't care. 'Okay, thanks, mate. See you later.'

Outside I grabbed the pizza box and opened it because I was curious what pizza we had. It was Matt's favorite, but what kind was that.

'Your favorite pizza is capricciosa too?' what a surprise.

'Exactly. C'mon, let's go sit down somewhere and eat it.'

I found the nearest bench possible, sat down, and started to eat.

'Wow, you must be very hungry.'

'You bet I am.' I said with my mount full. Then we were quietly enjoying the pizza.

When we finished eating, Matt threw out the box.

'What shall we do next?' he asked me.

'I've actually got an idea while we were eating.'

'Tell me.'

'I know it might be soon, but do you want to meet my parents?' I knew it was hasty, I was sure they would love to see him though. Plus I wanted to go home and still be with him.

'I would love to. And I don't think it's soon. I think we really hit it off, don't you think?'

'We did. Okay, I'll call mom if they're at home and we can go.'

'Sure.' he kissed my cheek.

My mom said they were at home, so we stood up and went there. I haven't told her about Matt yet, it was supposed to be a surprise. I knew what a surprise is.

We came in front of the house.

'So you didn't tell your mom about me, did you?'

'No, I didn't, I want it to be a surprise. You like surprises, don't you.'

'Love them.'

'See.' I opened the door and we went to our appartement.
