Facing the music

Waiting anxiously in her room, Eires felt that 3pm couldn't come fast enough. She needed to set everything back to the way it was. Pulling her phone that she claimed to have lost from out of her pocket, Eires set her phone to airplane mode before making her way to parking lot behind the omega quarters. The quarters were unusually quiet -safe for a few people who were getting ready for patrol duty, but she supposed mostly everyone was probably getting ready for the main event happening tonight.

Randomly pointing the car keys at the line of trucks, Eires kept pressing the unlock button until she found the one that responded. Upon seeing the truck that Cole had randomly given her, Eires felt that running would have been a faster option. The truck looked ancient and she was sure it had seen better days. 'No matter' Eires thought to herself, if the truck just so happened to die whilst she was in town she could always just run home.

The journey was uneventful despite her going 5 miles under the speed limit, she managed to get to the hotel with time to spare. The feelings of nervousness, excitement and dread were all tumbling around in the pit of her stomach as checked her appearance in the rear view mirror one last time before jumping out of the truck. She had never been dumped before in her life, but she assumed that if she was going to be breaking up with her mate she believed she should not let him know that it had affected her at all.

Entering the hotel through the employee's entrance, Eires immediately could tell that Jason was somewhere in the building. She couldn't explain it but it felt like her feet had somehow known exactly where she needed to be. Walking almost like a daydream from the elevator past the many different rooms on the floor, Eires finally snapped out of her daydream when she arrived at room 506. She could feel him on the other side of the door, contemplating her next move Eires felt her heartbeat come to a crescendo. Quickly knocking on the door before she chickened out, Eires waited patiently for Jason to come to the door.

However after about five minutes and still no response, Eires bit the bottom of her lips. Was she really in a rush to end this? Looking at the time displayed on her phone, she had about half an hour left before she had to clock in. Letting out a sigh, Eires supposed she had better get this done and over with. Looking down the corridors to make sure that no one was around, Eires had to concentrate really hard as she willed her form to dissolve into the shadows and travel pass the opening underneath the door of Jason's hotel room. Once in the room, Eires saw Jason pacing the room whilst on the phone with someone.

"Hopefully I won't take too long to get it settled so you should be able to expect us back for dinner tomorrow, but let's hold off on all the festivities until after we're settled..... Alright I will see you soon, I love you."

Leaning against the door frame, Eires pulled back the shadows and waited for Jason to turn around. Eires could see he was staring at his phone for a long while before placing it on the nightstand beside his bed and running his hands through his hair.

'I've just got to find her.' Eires heard him think.

'Not unless she finds you first' Eires said through their link.

Seeing him jump and face her, she then heard him think 'Am I hallucinating? Are you really here?'

"Yeah it's me, I thought we had some unfinished business and it would be best if we met in private to have it settled." Eires said nervously.

As soon as she confirmed that she was real and before Eires could blink, Jason ran towards her and engulfed her into the warmest and most comforting hug she had ever felt in her life. Letting herself savor the hug, Eires let out a sad resigned sigh know that this was going to be the last few minutes that they would spend together.

"Thank God you're alright." He breathed after he pulled away from their hug. "But what do you mean this would be the last few minutes that we would spend together?" Jason asked his face full of worry.

"Let's get real Jason, after you reject me I don't see a reason why we would still be in each other lives." Eires said as she tried to keep her tears at bay. She didn't cry when she went from being her pack's most beloved wolf to a pariah, she definitely wasn't going to cry now.

"Reject you? Why would I reject you?" Jason asked visibly confused.

"I wouldn't blame you. There is no shame in admitting that you made a mistake. Everything my sister said to you last night was true. I've never shifted in my life, I'm tainted." Eires said trying to comfort him into what would be the hardest thing they both had to do in a long time.

Slowly guiding her to the bed, Jason very gently said. "We've had a few cases of stray pups that we've adopted into our pack whom were raised by rogue parents and they too had problems shifting. Our pack physicians theorized that because they had faced some kind of great trauma either mentally or physically, and this incident was what was preventing them from shifting."

"I may be overstepping, but I think you witnessing your mother take her life had caused you great distress and it is preventing you from shifting. You're not tainted you just haven't healed from that." Jason continued as he meaningfully looking into her eyes.

Eires could feel that he truly cared about her and he really needed to believe that she wasn't tainted. Not wanting to correct him about the real reason her mother decided to leave her, Eires decided in that moment that she was going to do her best to keep the dark part of her from him for as long as possible. If she truly was going to be with Jason and that means being Luna of his pack someday she would need to learn how to not only hide her thoughts from her mate but also control her emotions better.

Giving him a bright smile, Eires playfullly said "I guess I'm stuck with you now. So.. what now?"
