Chapter 2

Joon:11.21.15

I watched her as she pouted at her friend again and couldn’t help but chuckle, I ignored the looks I got from my teammates and tried to put my attention back on the game. We scored another point against Nazarene, If I’m being honest this was going to be an easy win because they didn’t have a really good season last year and history tends to repeat itself. Their season before this is was tragic as well.

We were up by five now and the game was starting to bore me so I glanced around the arena and my eyes landed on her again. It wasn’t hard to spot her in a crowd, especially with her dark curly afro that shaped around her face, her skin that reminded me of freshly poured pecan syrup. Up close, she was more attractive than I thought and that’s a lot coming from me. Me finding her attractive through me off because it was rare for me to be attracted to anyone, especially sex wise. I’m still confused by it but she did something to me. I don’t know but I think it’s the way she carries herself is to why she has my attention. So she was the one that's going to help me figure this whole mess out.

I've seen her around campus before and we even shared a class together, I doubt she even knows it because she's off in her own world. Every time I attempt to talk to her, someone else would get her attention or someone stops me and before I know it she’s long gone.

“Kim” I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at the coach “Rice, get in for Phillips!” He ordered.

I nodded as I stood up and peeled off my sweatshirt, I ignored the crowd behind me and glanced at the scoreboard, we were down my seven and had 8 minutes remaining. I was staring at her for that long?? Creepy. I ran my hand through my hair as I walked to the scores table where they already had two other players from the Trevecca waiting and squat by Don, I couldn’t help but glance back at her only to see that she was already looking at me. Surprised, I wiped the look off my face and raised an eyebrow at her. She smiled and gave me a wink before looking back at the court. I ignored the the way my face got hot and decided to watch the game. It didn’t take me that long to notice that we were being care-free about them, if we kept that up we might lose the game in all.

The referee blew his whistle and pointed to the four of us, we all stood up and made our way onto the court. I pointed to Josh then tucked my shirt in, he pointed to number 11 and I nodded as I made my way to him.

I posted up on the player and glanced around to see if we were playing man or not.

-after the game-

I followed the rest of the team into the locker room and watch them celebrate the win. I frowned slightly as I thought back to the second quarter when I saw her leave, I thought she was going to come back but she never did. I walked to my locker and opened it, I checked my phone to see if I had some messages. All I had were notifications from instagram and congratulations text from the Korean Association that I’m in. I reluctantly opened the instagram app to ignore all the inappropriate or ‘thirsty’ comments under my picture. After scrolling through my notifications I went back to the homepage only to see a picture of Trey and Leo to pop up, I hit like and was about to scroll up until I saw the location say the university. I hit the link and it took me to the university tag, I scroll through it and I felt my heartbeat, I saw her picture. I clicked on it quickly then quickly clicked on the user. All of her pictures popped up and I nearly died. She had 475 post, 2894 make it 5 followers, and she was following 408 people. I skimmed her bio for the details I need. Ahh, so her name is Yandy and she’s 23 meaning that she’s in her last year. I started scrolling through her feed, the more I scrolled the more-

“Who insta are you on?” I heard Jay ask me. Jay Mather was a senior like me he’s also the first person I met when I attended this school, the first thing I learned about Jay was that he couldn’t keep his mouth shut about anything. Wait a minute. I glanced at him then back at her page, thinking that I could put my plan into motion with Jay.

I gave him a genuine smile “My girlfriend.” I lied.

His eye widen in shock and I rolled my eyes inwardly. I’ve heard the rumors about me and it didn’t bother me at first but ever since Mike challenged girls to ‘woo’ me or as he said a ‘hit’ on me it has been annoying. I didn't need any distractions and that's all that they were, annoying distractions. I wasn't attracted to any of them physically or romantically so I declined their offers but they wouldn't take no for an answer so I had to be mean in my rejections.

“Let me see.” He demanded as he held his hand out. I lazily gave him my phone and stood up to get dressed. I heard some of the other guys come in from the showers and waited.

"What's wrong with Jay?" I heard John ask.

"Iono." I heard Trey respond. I put my shirt on and looked over at a shocked Jay, John and Trey was behind him looking at my screen.

Trey furrowed his eyebrows "Why you lurking on Yandy insta?" He asked.

John smirked "Tryna get in them DM's?" He teased.

Jay shook his head and handed me my phone back "Nah, that's Joon girl.”

I pocketed my phone as they looked at me in surprised, once again I rolled my eyes internally.

“You dating Yandy?” John sputtered in disbelief “Yandy Brown?”

So that’s her last name.

I felt slightly offended “Yes.” I answered coldly.

He raised his hands in defense “I didn’t mean it like that J-Dog.” He laughed nervously “I’m proud of you, we got tired of seeing you alone.” He admitted.

Really? I thought dryly as I picked my bag up and sat it on the bench, “Well” I faked a smile “You all can stop worrying.” I said before turning to Trey and staring at him "How do you know Yandy, Trey?" I asked nonchalantly but I was really curious.

He smiled at me "We went to the same high school, I hanged with her brother so I know how she can be." He explained before grabbing my shoulder "Good luck because she is wild." He laughed and walked away.

I furrowed my eyebrows wild? I looked back at her picture she didn't seem that wild. From a young age I learned that looks are deceiving but I have bigger problems and my gut told me Yandy was the key.

"Don't tell anyone though, she doesn't want that much attention." I lied with mock sheepishness. They all promised but I knew they would slip up. The 'Unattainable' finally has a girlfriend, no way they were going to keep that to themselves.

I smiled deviously as we left the gym, Get ready Yandy, you’re in for a treat.
