Nyxie walked into the waiting room for about an hour after her father had fallen asleep. Her face was clean of tears, eyes still rosy, as were her cheeks, and hands buried deep into her pockets.

Half of the many chairs in the large room were occupied by people waiting for their appointments, or, as she and her family were, simply spending their time in the hospital while waiting for the next news about the patient they were there for. Garciela was sitting on one of the chairs, one leg crossed over the other, and looking amused while listening to Nyxie’s brothers. Her mom had an expression of utmost delight on her face as she as well listened to her sons' talking.
